  1. You make no sense and having said that, I will no longer respond to your chiding, juvenile, asinine posts.
  2. Eloy is not going to be easy to replace, especially on a team that doesn't have too many guys that can hit.
  3. You should Google some on recurrent hamstring injuries for athletes. I think you might change your perspective.
  4. LOL. Eloy's OPS is 1 1/000th less than .800. Vaughn's OPS this season is .725. He is a butcher at 1B and a tank on the bases. Or Bennintendi. .540 OPS to go along with a .201 BA this season. 9 year average .752 OPS. and his arm is not strong enough for any outfield position. Cherry picking baseball stats to make a point is a fool's mission.
  5. Recurrent hamstring injuries make re-injury exponentially more likely and all but inevitable at some point. "Many people make the mistake of getting past the initial recovery period, and then going back to the same activities that caused the original damage. It does not end well." Realistically, Eloy is done this season and given the hamstring surgery and recurring injuries, maybe with his career. I hate to see a guy with his talent and love for the game constantly hampered by injury. That is particularly hard to take with a player like Eloy who has such a love for the game and for the fans. The Sox can find another DH but likely will never replace the spirit he had on and off the field. I will never forget some of those games against the cubs. Thanks Eloy.
  6. Thorpe's approach is to try to stay away from the center of the plate and get swings on pitches that are not strikes.
  7. Need bullpen arms a couple of hitters and a new Manager and the Sox could conceivably get back into the mix in the Central next season instead of last place.
  8. Mays passing was a sad day for Major League baseball. He was a trailblazer in so many ways and a sports hero to many. That basket catch in the 1954 World Series announced by the great Jack Brickhouse will forever be part of baseball lore. It was a privilege for those of us that got to see him play.
  9. or bring up Quero from Birmingham.
  10. 100% ! Cub fans always want the Sox to trade their best talent and tank. Oh sure, just wallow in perpetual rebuilding mode with a bevy of prospects, most of whom will never pan out. It's such a foolish short-sighted strategy, especially with the change in the Draft protocol. No need to continually kick the can down the road and depress the fan base with promises made that cannot ever be kept. The chance of having numerous prospects from trades blossom in a crescendo that results is a WS championship is a fool's mission. There are 30 teams all trying to get better every year. For the WSox, the focus should be on improving year after year in order to stay competitive. When and if the team becomes good enough to contend for a WS championship, then it's time to salt the roster with a few players to help get there, like the White Sox did in 2005.
  11. If you want to blame Yoan and Eloy for being injured and being unable to play, OK, but Kopech isn't in that "mix", he is just no good.
  12. We are seeing a potential rotation begin to form with Crochet, Thorpe, Cannon and the possibility of a few more from the minors. We need a bullpen and that is easier said than done. I would not trade any of the premier talent we have in the line-up (Robert, Eloy, Moncada, Vaughn, Lee), unless the return includes major league ready players that are proven hitters. No more trades for "prospects" that you wait years to develop and never pan out. Open the wallet and pay to keep most of the talent we have...then add to it. I'm just not in favor of tanking and just getting rid of players we may not like but are not easily replaced.
  13. Eloy's hamstring injuries are not "legit?" That is shear nonsense. It is a fact that athletes who have had hamstring injuries and or hamstring surgery face a high probability of recurrent injury. I understand there are reasons, legitimate or otherwise, to dislike Eloy, but his hamstring issues are no fault of his. Unfortunately the likelihood of recurrence diminishes any trade value he might have.
  14. I think Kopech and Maldonado have to go via DFA. I prefer Bran Ramos over Sosa at third. Robert and Eloy are hitters with HR power which this team needs regardless if we like or not like them.
  15. We almost never hang on to win these close games. s%*# bullpen.
  16. Hawk always favored the change-up as a pitch to get batters out. If the Hawk is watching, I bet he has enjoyed the stuff Thorpe has. Contrast Kopech losing yesterday and taken deep in the cub game primarily relying on a big fastball (that is straight as an arrow).
  17. Thorpe has to be nervous as hell. Let's not judge him by his first game here. Good luck young man.
  18. I should have said that I heard someone say that but I have not found anything that would confirm that. Nonetheless, Thorpe looks like he going to be a great pitcher.
