  1. What is wrong with you all? The state giving us fans a beautiful new stadium is probably the best outcome we can hope for! I couldn't be happier with this proposed stadium. The renderings, the location, its all good. The state of Illinois has wasted so much money on things that are far, far more worthless than a beautiful new baseball cathedral. Don't all start acting like you're fiscal watchdogs.
  2. Yeah but my point is the team wasn't opening the rooftop even when it cooled down. It became an issue in the playoffs where the League had to force them to open it up, because otherwise they never would have. It was not 100 degrees by then. Somebody ran the numbers and they only played with the roof open a handful of times the entire summer despite the heat often being well below scorching. The exact circumstances won't be the same in Chicago but my point is retractable roofs are often closed too often when its unnecessary. I think thats bad for baseball.
  3. My problem with a retractable roof is that it'll end up being closed the vast majority of the time. The home team always prefers to play in a climate-controlled, perfectly comfortable environment. I read that this happened in Texas after they built their new stadium. The slightest deviation from perfect weather and they will keep it closed. Not good for the fans and people who enjoy outdoor baseball.
  4. And no jokes either. I prefer the angry silence of Hawk.
  5. If he’s going to go on and on about statistics and computers like Jason, hard pass. We don’t need that.
  6. It sounds like everyone wants this to happen - from the mayor to the aldermen from both the new and old locations. I am shocked Ald. Lee supports them moving out of Bridgeport but I think that just speaks to the realization that they are moving no matter what so keeping them in the city is preferable. If this all works out they should name it Reinsdorf Park!
  7. They wouldn’t. You’re not a real fan if you want them to move.
  8. Nobody will miss Benetti. Hopefully they bring Hawk back, or somebody of similar caliber.
  9. Its sad to think that if this was even a mediocre franchise we wouldn’t have to worry about them potentially relocating. The fan support would be there and the MLB would never allow it. But this is probably the worst franchise in professional sports, not even close to mediocrity.
  10. Our Chuck is right. TA has got to go.
  11. Sox should sign Bauer. He did nothing wrong as far as I can tell.
  12. They need to hire either Ron Washington or Jim Leyland this offseason. They will enforce discipline.
  13. You just pulled the bolded text straight out of your ass. Please provide some evidence that they hired Getz because he was white, passing up more qualified black candidates. Put up, or shut up because you're acting outlandish (and racist, frankly). There are so many reasons to dislike the Getz hire, I have no clue why you would choose to make his skin color the focus of your ire. Race baiting is tiresome.
  14. Dollar dog night… oh wait, nope… Dippin’ dots and good craft beers. Just don’t pay attention to the product on the field.
  15. Why would you openly wave the white flag and say we’re not going to try and land big free agents??? Who is going to want to play for this team? Even if you’re not going to spend money, just lie and pretend! The MLB needs to do something and take this away from Renisdorf. He’s openly sabotaging this storied franchise.
  16. They could get lucky, like in 2005. Thats literally thr best we can expect under this ownership. Rebuilding, developing talent- forget it!
  17. The sox can’t develop talent, so I agree with Jerry: WIN NOW! Rebuilding is pointless for this org.
  18. Thats being kind. Jerry said “open up the portholes, let the water in!”
  19. If they move to the suburbs they're going to completely cede any relevance they have with young-ish Chicagoans to the Cubs. There are hundreds if not thousands of White Sox fans living on the north side who take the red line to the game on a regular basis. They're not going to drive out to Naperville. If they really must move though, they should go to Orland Park (or Crestwood like I said before). I believe the former site of the massive Andrew Corporation headquarters in Orland is still sitting vacant after 20 or so years.
  20. It was definitely shot outside the stadium, as crazy as that sounds. There's no way a gun went off in the park and not a single person has come forward claiming they heard it. I'm glad everyone is going to be okay. Not a good look! Maybe they should reconsider their movie where they proudly link the team to the ghetto.
