I agree with you but we are underestimating the franchise's ability to f*** up.

Here's a few ways it can get worse. Players were largely left alone for a couple seasons are suddenly being scrutinized and someone is demanding better production. That could piss off a few players who chaff under the new leadership. They liked having a manager asleep in the dugout.

We think guys will play better while relearning to play their "natural" position. Maybe not.

Another year older will be great for some, not so great for others.

    Pitching still matters.

Once injured - twice shy or something like that.

But more likely, they will find a new, even more spectacular way to be worse.

    BINGO

I went through the terrible years of 68, 69 and 70 plus of course the rebuild years but I’ve seen things this year by this team that I’ve never seen before, they play a game that I’m not familiar with. With an off day tomorrow it will be a good time to start retooling, first with the firing of Hahn, let KW take over for the rest of the year. The next step is to fire Grifol, the man doesn’t have a clue. I would really like to see AJ become the new manager. The guy is a winner and as a former catcher knows the game. It will be up to KW to make the trades that have to be made but the new GM whoever it may be is going to have monumental job in cleaning up this mess both at the Major and Minor League levels.

since the entire player developement staff will have to be replaced, the GM hire will be the most important, keep Kenny as far away from that as possible, he's just as responsible for this s%*# show as Hahn

Making a bloated by greed 12 team playoffs (4 of every 10 teams) is a garbage metric, especially when they have advanced three times in six generations, only one of which anyone on Earth can remember (1906, 1917 and 2005).

Americans 6 1/2 years old or older (all women) to possibly remember the 1917 World Series.

    1. Edie Ceccarelli (Born February 5, 1908)
    2. Elizabeth Francis (Born July 25, 1909)
    3. Pearl Berg (Born October 1, 1909)
    4. Naomi Whitehead (Born September 26, 1910)
    5. Louise Levy (Born November 1, 1910)
    6. Clarabell Demers (Born November 3, 1910)
    7. Herida Senhouse (Born February 28, 1911)
    8. Lillian Moran (Born May 1, 1911)

saddest part is that they all remember the Titanic disaster as well

All I'm saying is that the stat-line scouting of collective numbers like you mentioned points out obvious flaws, of which I'm not disputing. But strictly looking at those and basing an opinion on that doesn't take into account the context of said numbers or the individual output of certain players vs journeyman gas-cans and roster fillers. It's important to dive into the individuals that are most likely to help the club, and I believe there are a fair amount of interesting options that are in the lower minors.

considering the Sox recent history of development, how interesting will they be when they reach MLB status

Both teams on the road next week, Minnesota traveling to Atlanta (.649) and Baltimore (.618) for six games in which they may only win 1 or 2.

Meanwhile the Sox look to have a solid chance of winning 4 or 5, and an outside chance at winning 6.

    Realistic best case scenario: Sox 5-2 Twins 1-5 = Minnesota 41-44 & Chicago 39-47 2 1/2 GB

    Crazy best case scenario: Sox 6-1 Twins 0-6 = Minnesota 40-45 & Chicago 40-46 1/2 GB

    Anaheim

    • RHP Dylan Cease (3-3 4.22) vs. LHP Reid Detmers (1-5 4.02): Chatham native Reid's first start against the White Sox, hoping the Sox can pounce the LHS.
    • RHP Michael Kopech (3-6 4.06) vs. RHP Shohei Ohtani (6-3 3.13): Shohei's chance to impress White Sox brass for his upcoming Free Agency. All kidding aside, Sox need to be patient and extend pitch counts to hopefully get at their bullpen. Touki will likely be the pairing after 4-5 innings.
    • RHP Lucas Giolito (5-5 3.41) vs. RHP Jamie Barria (2-2 2.14). This is a winnable game with Lucas on the mound. Barria pitched the Sox tough in May, but again working counts and getting to the bullpen a key to this one.
    • RHP Lance Lynn (4-8 6.40) vs. LHP Patrick Sandoval (4-6 4.16). Lynn pitched awful in his May start, but looks to have turning things around this month. The Sox are 2-0 vs. Patrick, hoping success against LH starters continue to close out the series.

    Oakland

    • Friday LHP Tanner Banks (0-2 4.50) & RHP Jesse Scholtens (1-2 2.31); Saturday RHP Dylan Cease & Sunday Michael Kopech: 3-0 needs to be the target, 2-1 worst case scenario, for the Sox to return home within a few games of first place in the American League Central. Oakland has gone 1-9 in their last 10 games, and hopefully are spent after their mini June rally around the boycott game.

    Let's Do This!

afraid not, problem with these optomist threads is ignoring the fact that this team sucks

I think that is a trade that really could make sense and help the sox the next 4-5 years.

Foscue is a second and third Baseman in the rangers org. He is a below average defender but offensively he has everything the sox are lacking at 2b, he walks a lot, doesn't strike out much and has power. Also he is pretty blocked in Texas who have semien, Jung and seager locked in for the next couple years.

Foscue is a 2020 first round pick and at 24 he is mlb ready, his line in AAA so far is 277/405/488 with 8 homers, a 14% walk rate and an 11% K rate.

As I said the defense is below average but he could give the sox a high OBP slugger for the next 5-6 years.

I would give the rangers giolito plus a reliever for him unless the sox are really back in the race at the Deadline (which still could happen).

great, lets add lousy defense to an already horrible defensive ballclub to hopefully add a bat

What really matters is what the players feel. They can come out of this series with confidence and keep building series wins and a solid stretch leading to the All Star Break.

They need to keep winning through their toughest slate of the season, three each at Atlanta, New York Mets and Minnesota after the All Star Break.

A sell off / White Flag 2.0 would crater long term fan support and any remaining cohesiveness in that clubhouse if they are in first or within a couple games of first, especially with their soft schedule the final several weeks of the season.

"Keep Hope Alive" and "Don't Give Up, Don't Ever Give Up". Win it for and with Liam!

a white flag move would be  admitting that this team sucks , and that moving on will best serve them moving forward

Yeah it seemed a little more honest than I expected. I was expecting more putting makeup on a pig and claiming it's a supermodel.

Still, if there really is gonna be accountability it needs to happen and fast and the replacements can't be the same in house crap as usual.

Im sure rheir is someone on the KC staff looking for a promotion
