The guys is holding his own in High A (small sample size but same with low A) and he's younger than Micker! He started the year at 19! The K rate is good for his age and he's got some pop.
He really doesn't need to walk at all to be valuable as middle infielder if he plays plus defense and flashes power. Plenty of guys in that mold.
If the power continues to progress or he learns some semblance of plate discipline then you have a very intriguing prospect.

Yeah it's easy to forget the kid is 22. Plus the Nationals really set him back last year.
If he's still struggling 2nd half next year I think it's time to really worry. But even then he'd only be 23! If he hits his ceiling at 24/25 that's still so young.

Man if the K rate keeps creeping down for Micker I'm gonna be so pumped. It's already insane how much progress he's made in one year.

Probably not a coincidence that Swarzak, Kahnle, and Robertson all pitched despite us being down. There were like 15 scouts and the game and they were definitely at least scouting DRob.

Yeah was hoping we'd be that 2 for 1 reliever team. At least that takes 2 guys off the market.
Luckily the Dodgers, Diamondbacks, Astros, Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, Rangers, Rockies, Cardinals, and Astros all looking for relievers. There will definitely be a market.

Edit: OR the sox are taking back a bad contract (or part of a bad contract).

Already said this once, but doesn't Rodon 5th seem weird? Hopefully just resting his arm but he's barley pitched this year, has expressed a desire to get into a rhythm, and we're coming out of the all star break.

The fact that it's not done yet makes me wonder whether it's more complex than being reported - some sort of Reliever + Frazier package or something similar?
Red Sox have a 4:05 game against the Yankees (so important), so you would think they would've wanted it done last night if possible.

Am I the only one weirded out by Rodon being slotted as the 5th starter?
I'm guessing it's just to get him rest after the early season arm troubles, but coming out of the all star break it seems a little odd.

He had Moncada at like 17 in the offseason. He doesn't view him as having regressed, probably stationary with the graduations.

Some guy connected to the Red Sox leaked the Sale package exactly, about 5 hours before it happened. I couldn't believe my eyes. Ever since then I get roped in so easily.

^ guys, you gotta remember Duke was actually making a lot of cash for a solid reliever ($7 million a year I think). Swarzak's lack of years might actually be superior to that.

Yeah this isn't just extended rest, it's 7 full days in between. Very odd - though could be simply because the rotation ended on Rodon right before the break.

Charlotte hasn't released their rotation either.....once again probably nothing but an interesting coincidence.

Man if we can honestly just got one of Andujar/Fowler/Mateo it'd be a coup. I'm skeptical we get more than that unless it's a Kahnle package.
But seriously guys that'd be a good return. Each one of those guys has a pretty good chance at being an above average regular.
Andujar would be my pick based on how he looked during that call-up and our lack of 3B options. He's probably blocked unless Torres ends up in the middle infield.
