  1. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Mar 13, 2014 -> 11:55 AM) That's Abrams even more than Bertrand at times. Abrams is much for fitting of that description. Abrams makes some bad decisions but most of his issues as a basketball player are as simple as he just can't shoot.
  2. Yogi Ferrell flops more than a European soccer player.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 13, 2014 -> 11:39 AM) Like I said before, he makes a great move, looks really athletic, but then the ball leaves his hand. Shooting isn't even his problem. He can't dribble and literally has the worst court vision of any guard I've ever seen. He is also bad defensively.
  4. Bertrand is awful. Every time he comes it is basically and automatic run for the other team.
  5. So after being destroyed by the Kings last night the 76ers streak as 18 games and their next 8 are vs Indiana, vs Memphis, at Indiana, vs Chicago, vs New York, at Chicago, at San Antonio, and at Houston. They are in decent shape to tie the Cavs 26 game losing streak with that schedule. A home game against Detroit would be for magic #27 if they do lose those 8.
  6. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 11, 2014 -> 09:41 AM) I think the Illini get in if we can win three games. Obviously a lot, lot easier said then done when you might not win one. But I'm going to go and get ahead of myself anyways. Right now Illinois is 18-13 with a rpi of 62 and sos of 33. I would imagine going 3-1 in the Big Ten tournament would bump those computer numbers up to 50ish and late 20s. The record would be 21-14. They would also have road/neutral wins vs Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan State, Nebraska, Missouri, Michigan, and Ohio State or Nebraska again. I doubt any bubble team would be able to come close to those wins. Last ten does not factor in which hurts us, though neither does conference record which helps. I think 2 puts Illinois squarely on the bubble but likely just out of the tourney and 3 puts them in. That almost certainly isn't happening but its fun to think about because a few weeks ago this team needed a miracle to even be talked about as a potential tourney team.
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 12, 2014 -> 07:31 PM) And Simeon up 6 at half. I'll shut up DJ Williams was awesome for Simeon yesterday. And man do I wish Morrow was taller because I love his motor and he can play but at 6'5/6'6 he just doesn't have the skill set to be a great player at a high major. Okafor was ultimately just too big for Simeon yesterday and when Morrow got in foul trouble they were screwed.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 12, 2014 -> 03:32 PM) Of course, but Simeon barely beat Lane Tech and Stagg while Young is killing people. I love the fans crying that they're playing in sectionals and not down state. The schools are 10 miles apart and folks think ihsa should separate them in different regions just cuz? This Simeon team seems to play to their opponents level a lot. They played a couple of really entertaining against Curie this year and beat some great teams. They did have way too many close games against inferior opponents though.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 11, 2014 -> 09:48 PM) St Rita could beat Young Friday. I'd love to see a 4A Final Four without a Public League team. Crowds would rock. I think it is far from guaranteed that Young beats Simeon tonight.
  10. QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 12, 2014 -> 01:03 PM) I'm guessing MD Jennings is far from the presumptive starter, just a cheap value with experience to add some competition He is awful but as long as he is just signed for depth I don't have a problem with it.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 12, 2014 -> 09:14 AM) Maybe I'll just delete that one from the DVR. Just an absolutely brutal episode. The only thing you need to know if you don't watch
  12. Holy crap was HIMYM awful last night. I'm so happy there is only 3 episodes left.
  13. Over under 1 win for the 76ers for the remainder of the season?
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 10, 2014 -> 03:46 PM) Illinois-Wisky in 2008. He also didn't make it his first year at OSU but they weren't eligible to play in the tournament that year. Interestingly, OSU has only missed the Big 10 championship game 3 times since 2002 and all 3 times the ended up being Wisconsin v. Illinois.
  15. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Mar 10, 2014 -> 08:20 AM) ya, their relationship was great. I guess season 2 is supposed to have a female lead. The show was incredibly well acted and I enjoyed it but as a character study it isn't particularly compelling. Marty is basically as cliche of a character as there is. A cop who cheats on his wife and isn't there for his family? That's never been done before. I just don't find him interesting as a character although Harrelson did a great job in that role.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 8, 2014 -> 10:44 PM) Agreed, there's no excuse for that team to play as awful defensively as they have. They play like they've never practiced against a pick and roll. He obviously has a solid eye for talent (although Marble was already committed to Iowa when he got the job IIRC) but there is simply no excuse for that team to have finished 9-9 in the Big 10 and a team with that amount of size should never be this awful defensively. They aren't overly athletic but it isn't like they have a bunch of stiff out there.
  17. Fran McCaffery has done a really awful job with this Iowa team this year.
  18. What a shot by Ekey. Great win and close to the season.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 7, 2014 -> 01:04 PM) Anyone believe him? No
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 5, 2014 -> 08:24 AM) Ya, that's what I got out of it. It wasn't just that part, it was also the mother saying something to the effect that she didn't want Ted to only live in his stories and that life moves forward.
  21. So for those still watching HIMYM, the obvious implication of last night's episode is that the mother is dead at the time Ted is telling his kids about how he met her right? That just makes the entire premise of the show so freaking strange.
  22. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 4, 2014 -> 02:07 PM) I think the story of his daughter will be resolved in the final episode. They spent an awful lot of time on Marty's relationship with his family if none of that really matters to the plot. I get that it was necessary for his character development but it would be a very odd choice to devote that much time to his family life in an 8 episode series if none of that really mattered much to the plot.
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 1, 2014 -> 06:25 PM) Beating three straight ranked teams to end it would definitely strengthen our chances. I still don't like the odds though. The odds are still really bad that they beat both Michigan and Iowa but if they did they would be in good shape to make the NCAA tourney by simply winning their first game in the Big 10 tournament.
  24. Also, Illinois' defense has been absolutely spectacular lately. Hill and Nunn has helped on offense but we are actually a much better defensive team since they have moved into the starting lineup.
  25. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 1, 2014 -> 05:59 PM) What was that about? Illinois was bricking FTs. Yeah, that made no sense. I mean their chances of winning there were incredibly small but you should always extend the game if you have a chance at all.
