  1. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Nov 9, 2013 -> 06:10 PM) They get an average defense they can be... The offense is disgusting and loses one starter... That's the problem though. This Illinois offense is average at absolute best and they have looked like world beaters today. They made a Michigan offense that is really pedestrian look like Baylor against a sisters of the poor school. I'm actually happy that IU is pulling away now, going 0-8 and forcing Thomas to have no choice but to fire Beckman is best possible scenario for Illinois at this point.
  2. These IU and Illinois defenses are jokes. Both would struggle to stop a good high school team.
  3. I would have fired Beckman on the spot for punting on 4th and 3 from IU's 33. Any coach who punts in that situation is a f***ing idiot.
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 9, 2013 -> 11:43 AM) True. I'm just saying there's nothing to draw from that one game. Love him or hate him, Weber is a flawed coached who has had some awesome successes as a basketball coach. It isn't just one game. It is a terrible loss where immediately throws his older players under the boss and follows two years of terrible recruiting and their best player transferring because he didn't want to play for Weber.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 8, 2013 -> 11:34 PM) Kansas State lost at home to Northern Colorado. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! It is insane how much money Bruce Weber is going to end up making as a high major basketball coach and ruin basketball programs. He is recruiting really poorly to KSU so just a matter of time before it doesn't work out there. I wonder what his buyout situation is at KSU. No way he gets fired this year but I could see him getting fired next year if they miss the tourney this year and next and he would still have 2 or 3 years left on his deal. Could be another situation where he is getting paid for 2 years not to coach basketball for a school.
  6. Every time I watch James Harden play it makes me sad as a basketball fan that we didn't get to see 10 years of Westbrook, Harden and Durant teaming up. They legitimately could have had a 90s Bulls type run.
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 8, 2013 -> 12:01 AM) Might as well get the onside kick. Pretty damn close. Everyone should start doing onside kicks like that.
  8. Star Wars VII to be released on December 18, 2015.
  9. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 7, 2013 -> 12:55 PM) That "trade" will come in the form of Derrick Rose and Jo to be completely honest. Dunleavy will also start hitting shot at some point. I'm frustrated but not worried at all If Noah is ever 100% healthy that is.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 7, 2013 -> 12:31 PM) If he chooses Illinois, Illini Nation better show up to that Chicago Elite Classic and show some love. I'm already planning on heading to that if Cliff picks Illinois. Between Cliff, DJ Williams (plus Coupet and Norvell who Illinois will have a great shot at if they want them), and Charles Matthews it will be a pretty fun event for Illinois fans. Plus, it will actually be fun to see Okafor, Ulis and the out of state kids as well.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 6, 2013 -> 11:17 AM) I've got it on DVR. If I hadn't have come this far, I would have been done with the show. Same. I stopped truly enjoying the show about 2 years ago but I can put up with 20 minutes a week to see how it ends since I don't watch a ton of TV shows anyways.
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 5, 2013 -> 12:02 PM) But I was told KU had no connection to Cliff!! Charles Mathews is a stud. He and Brunson are my favorite juniors in Illinois. I'd be surprised if Matthews doesn't up an Illini. Feel really good about our chances there.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 5, 2013 -> 09:53 AM) Groce on a roll with 3 top 50 kids in less than 2 months. Williams is the first Simeon kid to EVER commit before his senior season. That is so huge for future recruiting at the best school in the state. I also love this: http://www.news-gazette.com/sports/illini-...s-illinois.html That isn't entirely true. Nunn actually committed to Texas A&M before his senior year. Of course he didn't end up there but still.
  14. Nice win. Holy crap is Seneca Wallace is awful. So nice to actually have a competent backup for a change.
  15. Well thank you for Green Bay for not challenging that.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 4, 2013 -> 09:36 PM) This shows how much better the offensive coaching is with this staff. Having a legitimate NFL offensive line helps as well.
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 4, 2013 -> 09:13 PM) Conte is awful. Just absolutely terrible. And the rookie linebackers aren't close to being ready to play. They are almost never in the right position.
  18. This defense is so f***ing terrible and lol at Conte. That guy is a joke.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 4, 2013 -> 09:07 PM) Peppers! This Bears D has a lot of issues with big RBs. The second level can't finish tackles. This Bears D has issues with everything.
  20. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 2, 2013 -> 03:07 PM) I'm down with Babers. He's likely a complete disaster, which is to say he's not any worse than what we have now. And if he does end up successful, I think it would be in a very big way. Some would view it as a risky hire but is there really such thing as a risky hire when your program is this bad? Take a chance on a guy who brings in a great offensive system and who could potentially do a great job here.
  21. The other thing to consider is Mike Thomas has made 5 hires at the BCS level. Mick Cronin, Brian Kelly, Butch Jones, John Groce and Beckman. It is early with Groce but he clearly looks like at least a solid hire and that was a potential home run. Brian Kelly and Butch Jones were obviously grand slam hires for Cincinnati. Cronin has been solid. He clearly knows how to hire successful coaches and just happened to blow it with Beckman after his top choice fell through. It happens.
  22. QUOTE (gatnom @ Nov 2, 2013 -> 02:47 PM) I wouldn't be entirely opposed to getting another coach. I just wonder who would want to take on an all but shattered program, and perhaps more importantly would I even want them as a head coach? I mean we're definitely not in better shape than we were last coaching search, and we didn't exactly get our pick of the litter. I think Beckman can get us to mediocre, or at least on the path to it, given one more year. Tons of coaches at the FCS level would take this job. You think guys like the North Dakota St. coach who has built a dominant program at that level are going to pass up 4 or 5 times their current salary? Sure, you might have someone do that but you offer a guy making $200 OR $300 1.5 million and they are going to take it. How about Dino Babers from Eastern Illinois? He is black which would take care of the issue that Illinois has never had a black head coach for football and basketball, he coached under Art Briles at Baylor and his offense is scoring an incredible amount of points right now. Illinois' best bet is to find an innovative offensive mind. You don't need to hire a guy who is currently a head coach at the FBS level to find that guy.
  23. QUOTE (gatnom @ Nov 2, 2013 -> 02:36 PM) Abysmal play calling and game management after that PSU fumble. Still think firing Beckman is a bad idea right now even if he isn't the answer long term. Classic Scheelhaase. Again, once you know you have the wrong coach get rid of him as quick as possible. There are good coaches all over the place, go out and find one. And you don't have to look in traditional places. Go find the most innovative offensive coach in FCS and bring him in.
