  1. Except for that one throw, Cutler has been terrific today. And wow is this Seattle defense just awful. Don't get me wrong, the Bears offense is playing well but Seattle hasn't been able to tackle all year and they are terrible in coverage.
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 16, 2011 -> 12:15 PM) Chris Bosh is such a p****. Jeez. And people said Boozer was soft...Bosh seems to be on another level. I'm actually glad the Bulls didn't get Bosh after hearing what he's said. The guy is worse than LeBron when it comes to public comments. Boozer isn't soft but he is very injury prone and one of the worst defenders in the NBA. However, his rebounding and offensive skills outweigh his defensive limitations against almost all teams.
  3. Wow Jay Cutler just got insanely lucky. That was probably a pick 6 and would have completely changed the game.
  4. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Jan 15, 2011 -> 05:57 PM) That's true, but his overall game has regressed since joining UI. While his outside shooting is admittedly better than in HS/prep, he's much worse handling the ball now than 2 years ago -- I don't know how that can happen but it has. He can't get to the hole anymore and even his on-the-ball defense is worse now. I don't know what you can blame other than coaching, as Richardson is regarded as a hard worker... How the f*** could a coach make a player a worse ball handler? That makes absolutely no sense.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 15, 2011 -> 05:42 PM) They are also just sophmomores. And Paul is actually starting to play really good basketball the last couple of games. Paul was pretty raw coming in which was obvious last year. His jump shot was inconsistent because his form was inconsistent and he has improved a lot from last year to this year in that area but he has made a giant leap in his ball handling and decision making. As for DJ, I don't think anyone ever thought he was anything other than a 4 year college player (albeit a very very good one).
  6. Awesome, Bo Ryan and the Illinois coaching staff talking to each other about how awful the refs were both ways today in the postgame handshake.
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 15, 2011 -> 05:14 PM) Tisdale has been playing like he is 6'4 this year at times His rebounding has been a lot better, but unfortunately Mike Davis has just stopped rebounding altogether lately. But he still goes up softly way too often and rushes shots around the rim when he really doesn't need to.
  8. Also, Mike Davis and Mike Tisdale are the most maddening players ever. Both are capable of terrific performances but for the most part they both just disappoint and they each absolutely killed Illinois's momentum today. Tisdale missed a layup when Illinois had a chance to get the lead down to 4 and then he commits a stupid offensive foul on the next possession. And then later in the game Davis misses yet another 2 foot shot because he is a p**** when a make there cuts the lead to 6. Also, only one rebound by Davis today, nice job. I can't wait for him to graduate.
  9. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 15, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) Refs have ruined this game. Going to call 3-4 touch fouls against Illini now because of all the fouls theyve called on Wisconsin. Id rather just watch 2 teams play, because the refs are just so inconsistent and killing this game (for both teams). They have been truly awful. I would have liked to have actually seen a basketball game today.
  10. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jan 15, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) Jim Jackson said his sources have told him Richmond is transfering. Jim Jackson also said Jereme Richmond wasn't at the game so he is also a dumbass and doesn't watch his own network. Richmond has been cheering the team on the entire game and I've seen him talking to the coaches a lot as well. Would be strange behavior for a guy who is going to transfer right now.
  11. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 11:03 PM) I would say that was a fairly obvious travel, I don't really give a f*** because the team is pathetic regardless 0-4 in close games now. Well I guess Maryland ended up close but that was more a game Illinois was in complete control of and then they just missed some free throws to make it close. When they are clicking they are great but I have no confidence in this team in close games. And that was a no doubt travel (plus a nice push off by Battle there as well) he took 3 steps which generally gets called at the college level. But refs are p*****s so I wouldn't expect that to get called either.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 11:01 PM) Watched the play closely 3 times now, and it doesn't look like an obvious travel. Heck, when Cole bobbled that ball under the hoop to tie it, I was expecting the ref to call a travel. He picks it up and takes 3 steps. That is a travel if you aren't playing in the NBA.
  13. Again lol at the refs not calling Battle for that walk, picks it up and takes at least 3 steps before throwing the ball at the rim.
  14. Battle traveled badly on that last play and of course because Tisdale has to come over PSU gets a put back
  15. Taylor Battle is just tossing up garbage and it is going in tonight.
  16. Ugh, Mike Davis has missed two wide open 4 footers in the 2nd half. How about taking a dribble and dunking when you are 6'9 and athletic? No lets flip up a one handed shot. I give up, I just do
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 09:47 PM) In the end no matter what I think of the refs all Wisconsin had to do was hold the ball instead of attacking the basket at 135 left. Rob Wilson just made a mistake there and he will never hear the end of it. Before this game started I said that it wouldnt be worse than the football loss to MSU, but I dont know this was just terrible. The good news is they appear to be a tournament team, just I think this game was the difference between a shot at the Big 10 title. Wisconsin is a tournament lock but I just don't think this team is as talented as Bo's past teams. I like Taylor and Leuer a lot but the rest of that team is just incredibly mediocre at best. But when you basically never turn the ball over and play solid defense you will be in just about every single game.
  18. Great D down the stretch and Mike Davis decided to actually get closer to the basket on offense and made a couple of nice moves.
  19. So typical out of this senior class against a lesser opponent. Just a complete no show again today. Mike Davis being Mike Davis today.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 09:18 PM) Should Bill Cole really be starting over Richmond? Cole has been playing great basketball of late so yes. And Richmond is still getting just as many minutes as him anyways.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 03:34 PM) Defenses that can make open field tackles defeat the spread offenses. The read option which Oregon runs in their "go-go" is primarily a running offense designed to beat team that overpursue. However it is weak against stronger teams and teams that tackle in space. Oregon's offense has looked more than pedestrian in their last two bowl games scoring 17 and 19 points yet tearing up the Pac-10 year in and year out. I still favor the more conventional pro offense, which spread is more focused on passing. I think it also helped both OSU and Auburn that they had over a month to prepare for Oregon's offense. If you have to face them with only a weak to prepare those games might go differently. I don't think Oregon score at will, but I doubt they get held to 17 or 19 pts which is one of the major problems with the BCS.
  22. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 12:31 AM) I love the college game but I always feel robbed of something after the National Championship game to be honest. Yes, the regular season is fantastic but I'm so f***in over the BCS. It is ridiculous to decide the national championship with just one game like this and even more ridiculous to do it over a month after both teams finished their regular seasons. This isn't the same game and these really aren't the same teams we would have seen if the game was played a month ago. Until the NCAA adopts a playoff frankly the championship isn't completely legit.
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 12:23 AM) He personally bores the hell out of me. I can't get enough of him. Over the top indeed but I love it. At the end of close games or during tournament time I like Gus Johnson, the rest of the time I just find him irritating.
  24. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 11, 2011 -> 12:18 AM) I cant listen to Gus Johnson anymore because of Madden (he is one of the announcers). I can only listen to Gus Johnson in small doses, otherwise he just drives me nuts.
