  1. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 10:40 PM) I'm gonna hate the Kobe/MJ comparisons from people (especially if he gets 5 rings now) but I hate Rondo and Boston so much, I can care less about it. Allen might be gone, Thibs is comming here, etc... I hope Boston falls and stays down. If anyone makes the comparison after that garbage ass performance tonight they should be punched in the face. He has done nothing to deserve this win.
  2. That Pierce block had way less contact than Gasol's "block" on Garnett earlier.
  3. That last call against Garnett was awful. Don't bail out Gasol with that type of bulls*** call.
  4. Pathetic performance by Ray Allen on the offensive end tonight.
  5. Bulls*** officiating right now. Garnett gets fouled by Gasol after beating him off the dribble with no call and then a clean steal by Wallace called a foul.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 08:41 PM) Thibodeau! After first thinking that I don't care who wins, I have decided that I really don't want Artest winning a title. If he does, ESPN will think his craziness and stupidity is cute and funny. I'm rooting for Boston to win an ugly game in which Kobe goes about 3-20.
  7. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) Animation movies always get positive reviews. Not true at all. Pixar movies on the other hand always get positive reviews.
  8. Currently 56 reviews up for Toy Story 3 on rottentomatoes and everyone of them is positive.
  9. The early reviews for Toy Story 3 are not surprisingly fantastic. Pixar is amazing.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 14, 2010 -> 07:14 PM) Pierre is now batting .248 with 25 stolen bases and 6 CS (which leads the league), his batting average has been going up starting around mid may after a completely brutal start that had me wanting Pierre dumped for a bag of balls. Pods is batting .282 with 18 stolen bases and 6 CS, and his batting average has been going down after having a torrid start which had his average above .300 until late may when he started coming back to his normal numbers. Lets stop acting like Pods would be saving our season right now if he was leading off. Pierre is the same player with a little bit better instincts on the basepaths, better defense, and less power. Pods also only has a .333 OBP which is terrible for a guy who has no power at all and doesn't play good defense. He isn't a good baseball player. Why anyone would want him on the White Sox is beyond me.
  11. Nice bricks down the stretch Kobe. Hell yes Boston, one more.
  12. Absolutely pathetic at bats by Ramirez and Konerko.
  13. Pods is down to a .332 OBP and .671 OPS. Where did all his supporters go?
  14. Good win, Jenks continues to be scary but at least he isn't blowing games I guess.
  15. Nice job by Putz. Hopefully we can get a few insurance runs before Jenks gets out there.
  16. It is embarrassing that Randy Williams is still a member of this team.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 04:46 PM) I'm sorry, but academics has nothing to do with these decisions It isn't the biggest factor but academics is certainly a factor for the Big 10 to take a school. There are several SEC schools the Big 10 wouldn't take from an academic perspective even though they would be good for the conference athletically. The Big 10 and other conferences aren't making these decisions based on the academics of the schools they are inviting but I can basically guarantee the Big 10 is looking at the academic reputation and has some minimum standards for the schools they are inviting.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 09:52 AM) The 2008 AL Central doesn't count? Not to mention that the 2006 team won 90 games and would have been in the playoffs easily if Contreras didn't hurt his back, Buehrle wasn't a below average starting pitcher, and the pitching staff as a whole didn't tank after 2005. Thome was a stud his first two years for the Sox and then still a well above average hitter for his last two. He has also been very good for the Twins this year. What's not to like? A lot of people on this board love Pods who in his best year can't put up an OBP as high as Thome in his worst year, yet people hate on Thome all the time.
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) Big 10 tried (or is trying) to get Texas. (depending on who you believe) Im not sure that Iowa State, Baylor or Colorado are that much superior to Nebraska academics to off set Nebraska's superior brand and reputation. One of those teams fills an 80k+ stadium every year, the other 3 dont. If academics are close, you look for the marquee brand. I guess I dont consider Colorado, Baylor, or ISU as academic schools that "the big 10 would be falling over for." They are solid schools, but Im pretty sure that they would be in the lower half of the Big 10 in academics. Its just not a really big selling point (imo). The Big 10 is absolutely still trying to get Texas and there is a report (of course who knows if it is true) that is saying Texas and Texas A&M have petitioned the Big 10 for membership. And I am in complete agreement about Baylor, Colorado, and Iowa St. Going off of the US News Rankings, which are far from perfect but still, each of those schools is ranked lower than every current Big 10 school and while they are higher than Nebraska it isn't a substantial different. This is about the major sports men's basketball and men's football. Iowa St. fails miserably in both areas, doesn't bring in any new markets, and doesn't have a national following at all. They would be a terrible addition.
  20. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 11:34 AM) Now the other shoe is about to drop. Colorado is leaving for the Pac-10 and the Texas and Oklahoma teams will follow. Four 16 team Super Conferences is now looking like a certainty. Big 10 adds Iowa St,Missouri,Notre Dame and Pitt SEC adds Kansas,Kansas St,Louisville, takes Clemson from ACC ACC adds West Virginia, South Florida, UCONN, Syracuse and Rutgers The Big 10 will not add Iowa St. They aren't even on the radar.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 06:13 PM) You racist asshole Yeah pretty much. Wasn't really watching and looked up and saw the breaking balls, didn't really even pay attention to who was up.
  22. QUOTE (The Beast @ Jun 3, 2010 -> 02:24 PM) Nope, I have sympathy for Joyce. I didn't for West, but Joyce just blew a call at the wrong time. It is the human element of the game that makes me love baseball, unlike football where you can get away with some bulls*** because of a replay. The day they start inserting instant replay in the MLB is the day that I want instant replay in little league, high school, college, and the minor leagues, or I will advocate for a system where there are no human umpires, and just a computer for the manager to beat the s*** out when he's either dead wrong or just being a f***ing son of a b****. Overturn the last out, and give Joyce props for admitting he had done something wrong, unlike that fat f*** West who just sat there and shot fighting words back at Buehrle and Guillen. So to open up a new can of worms, we can't hate the Cubs or their fans? Their stupid fans really have issues with any negative comment that I direct towards them this year, and it is becoming ridiculous. I don't give two s***s about teams other than the White Sox, and I certainly don't think that Joyce should be suspended for this, just because of the high profile nature of this call that he blew at the wrong time. I am the first to say that while I don't love baseball, I am an umpire. An IHSA patched official, and each day, I learn something new about the game. So I suggest that Hawk (screw you Hawk, I can't stand your b****ing during the broadcasts) and the rest of those morons who b**** about balks at the game maybe read what the rules are in baseball or put the pads on and umpire a game yourself. Seriesly. What the hell are you talking about in this post. "unlike football where you can get away with some bulls*** because of replay"? What does that it even mean? And I will never understand why people find it preferable to have a human element to officiating in sports and have officials consistently get calls wrong. With that said baseball umpires for the most part do a very good job and I really don't think replay in baseball is practical. If a ball is called foul when it was really fair what do you determine the result to be? Do you give them a base hit automatically, is it the umps judgment call, etc? Even worse would be close plays involving whether a ball is caught or not, the umps call completely changes how those plays play out and replay doesn't solve this problem.
  23. This is the least shocking news ever. But I'm sure Calipari and ESPN will just pass this off as beyond his control since ESPN refuses to criticize him. I'm sure its just coincidence that he has had two final fours vacated and is now looking at a 30+ win season and an elite 8 being vacated.
