Rios is a beast
-
It is absolutely amazing that a team can have 3 guys producing at the level of Jones, Konerko and Rios and still have such a s***ty offense.
-
Rios is looking damn good and if he continues to play like this he is worth every penny of that contract.

Carlos Boozer sucks. He is completely incompetent defensively and doesn't finish worth a damn against good interior defenders. -
Why do people still dive into first base? So freaking stupid

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 8, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) They're actually 22-7. And what's an even scarier proposition for the rest of the AL is that other than Crawford and Longoria, there's nobody in their everyday lineup that you can say is playing up to their full capabilities. In fact, a couple of their key guys (mainly Zobrist) are underachieving. Of course, when your starting rotation is a combined 18-3 with a 2.41 ERA you don't need that much offense. And the Yankees are pretty much in the same boat. 20-8 overall, 19-4 in games not started by Vazquez, getting great starting pitching besides Vazquez and scoring runs despite Teixeira not hitting at all, Nick Johnson not hitting at all, Granderson struggling and ARod hitting well below his capabilities. Those two teams are by far and away the class of the AL.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2010 -> 07:50 PM) It's remarkable how similar the tenor of this thread seems to the tenor of it last year, when the Cubs weren't nearly as bad as the Sox. I don't disagree that the Cubs suck. You have to be pretty awful to have a losing record when most of your games have come against the Brewers, Astros, Pirates, and Reds.
-
The Castro love is going to get out of control. Also, do the Cubs ever have to face a team that doesn't suck. Granted there are maybe two teams in the NL that would have a chance at the playoffs in the AL but still.

Butler's chances of making a repeat type run next year just ended, Hayward staying in the draft. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 5, 2010 -> 03:43 PM) Offensively? You're right. They've got more firepower. But pitching dominates October. And I don't care what Rauch is doing right now. I would be scared out of my mind as a Twins fan if Rauch is called upon to protect a 1-run lead against offensive juggernauts like the Yankees and Rays. I agree with this and more importantly for the Twins is they just don't have anywhere near the starting pitching of the Yanks or Rays. Except for maybe Liriano (but lets see if he stays healthy and holds up over the course of the year) they have a bunch of average starters. But against the Yanks you have to face Sabathia, Burnett, Pettitte and Phil Hughes is looking awesome so far this year. And the Rays entire rotation is filled with guys who are big time talents and can dominate you on any night. Granted I would expect at least one or two of those guys to fall off but they still are more impressive than Baker, Slowey, Blackburn and Pavano.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 5, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) Never said it's the same, but it's similiar. It's closer to Princeton then it is D'Antoni, but it has a lot of the same elements and pace. Ultimatley, most offensive basketball strategies do. "Memphis' coach talks Suns Is Memphis' up-tempo offense similar to what the Suns run? Tigers coach John Calipari was asked that during Sunday's media session for the NCAA championship game in San Antonio. Here's his answer: "If I had Steve Nash, we'd be playing like the Phoenix Suns. "The offense is geared to all four perimeter guys being able to start the offense, and some of it is scripted. That's why I say it's like Princeton on steroids. It's just faster. . . . We pitch, we drive, boom, we stop in a certain area - that means he's going to the basket. I know Princeton does it with a spin. We just do it different, but it's the same." http://www.azcentral.com/sports/colleges/a...406ncaaadv.html But it isn't similar in pace. Calipari's teams have consistently been slightly above average in terms of possessions per game whereas the Suns have consistently played at one of the highest possessions per game in the NBA. And nothing Calipari says in that entire answer makes any sense. The Princeton offense is based on spacing, back door cuts, and using passing to get open shots. Calipari's system is based on the dribble drive and guys attacking one on one.
