It is also pointless to discuss personnel until Nagy and Pace are gone and you have someone new coming in. Not much to discuss about this team, the personnel isn’t good and the coaching is bad. Fields has mostly looked awful but can’t draw any conclusions since we have 4 years of data that shows Nagy is a shit offensive coach. Basically take out the first 8 or 9 games of year 1 and from the moment teams scouted what he was doing and made adjustments the Bears have been trash on offense unless they are facing a defense without a pulse.

The Rams have won because they have true impact players. If Quinn and Mack and Hicks are gone the Bears have one on defense and they have young olinemen but none have shown they are particularly good yet. Kmet is extremely mediocre and while Montgomery and Herbert are good, major meh there since they aren't impact players and RBs are incredibly fungible. Fields would need to be a legit star for them to be a contender. He has played one good game so let's see if he can even move up into the good or solid category before we talk about the Bears being a contender with the rest of this roster being mediocre at best going forward.

The Dodgers are actually incredibly well run. They spend but the vast majority of their players are home grown (Buehler, Urias, Seager, Will Smith, etc) or guys that they got off the scrap heap and did an awesome job developing (Justin Turner and Max Muncy). The other big names they got through trades by building a strong farm system and yes, that is where money was helpful to bring on Betts and Price salary but the only relatively big free agent in their lineup is Pollock.

The better answer is to get rid of divisions. The Dodgers were the best team in baseball and won 106 games. They are more deserving of a playoff spot and championship than a team that wins 88 games but won their division. The 2006 Cardinals got in because of winning a garbage division, ever weren’t a wild card.
