  1. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 06:59 PM) I'm missing something, did Wisconsin win? Big 12 has 3 sweet 16 teams as well. Kansas' and A&M's losses were bad, but the Big Ten has just played to seed. Can't say by far the best. Big 12 has 2 don't they? Kansas St. and Baylor are all that is left.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 06:59 PM) Kentucky, Cornell, and Duke were clearly the 3 most impressive teams this weekend. I love the line by draftexpress about how it's the battle of the future lottery picks against their future financial consultants. With the game being in Syracuse, everyone besides Kentucky fans will be cheering for Cornell. Syracuse has looked awesome.
  3. Absolutely pathetic performance by the Big East. 6 out of their 8 teams are gone even though they had 5 top 3 seeds plus two 6 seeds.
  4. Gigantic comeback for Maryland and they actually lead by 1 with 31 seconds to go. MSU has the ball though.
  5. Northern Iowa getting screwed by the refs a bit right now. That foul call on Morris's shot was absurdly late and I don't think there was a foul on that play and then the UNI guard got pushed out on that last turnover.
  6. Reynolds is trying his hardest to lose this game for Nova. Nova within one so he takes back to back contested jump shots that he bricks.
  7. It is amazing how much Scottie Reynolds has sucked in this tournament.
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 12:33 PM) I was one of these people who was very wrong. Now that I think about it, it wasn't like Hummel carried the team every single game, they do have tons ofother talent. I think the really putrid showing vs. Minnesota, combined with the mid-major hype machine towards Siena threw me off. Tons of other talent is an over statement. They have 2 other great college players and a bunch of role players, most of whom aren't very good.
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 08:54 AM) It was one of many awful calls that went against Waukegan. I've been coming down here to Peoria a long time and can't remember when I saw such a poorly officiated game at state. Should of been 1.9 on the clock. Refs didn't even look at the monitor to try and get it right. Just threw up .5 secs. It's only a state semifinal game. AGreed with fathom on Sam Thompson. He doesn't have many offensive skills. Starks will be very good at Oregon State. The suntimes article makes it seem that Thompson shut Richmond down, but Jereme missed the entired 2nd quarter with 3 fouls, two of them were terrible calls, than they forget he scored 8 points in the 3rd, to finish with 12. Richmond needed another big man to help board this season and it caught up with them. I'm obviously biased but I thought Richmond got completely screwed by the refs as well. That game probably goes very differently if isn't for the early terrible foul calls.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 10:29 PM) That game was the best basketball game of the day, tournament included. Starks was phenomenal. Fantastic ball handling by him in such an up tempo game. Why is Sam Thompson so highly regarded by Illini fans? That guy seems terrible every game I watch him. I haven't seen him play well either but Thompson's potential is extraordinarily high with his athleticism. But at some point you need to actually produce and while he has had a decent season his production doesn't come close to matching the hype. He certainly is not anywhere near the player of guys like Richmond or Blackshear but that is the group he is mentioned with.
  11. Whitney Young won on a game winning shot by Ahmad Starks. I hate that the clock doesn't stop after a made bucket in HS. Ruined really any chance that Waukegan would have had to answer.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 09:05 PM) Jereme Richmond had an amazing dunk that was called a charge tonight against Whitney Young. Terrible call
  13. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 06:17 PM) Losing a game these teams were supposed to lose proves they didn't belong in the tournament? I'm calling bulls***. Neither was competitive.
  14. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 05:43 PM) Turner was a backup plan. Just because you get an early offer (and junior year is practically a late offer nowadays) doesn't mean you are particularly wanted. I am not as knowledgable about the Moore situation though, so I'll take your word for it there. I usually refer to him more in the form of hearsay I heard because it's nice fodder to rip on Bruce. Turner wasn't a backup plan, they had 5 scholarships in that class and he was their top target at the SF position. He might not have gotten the love that Gordon and Rose got but they wanted him badly.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 05:24 PM) Illinois was the last school to offer him, he was waiting. Ryan was by far the leader for his services until Thad snatched him up. The father stuff isnt true though. His mother LOVES Thad, and she's the king in that family. http://www.cleveland.com/osu/index.ssf/201...d_a_buckey.html http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/sport...at=&sid=101 Turner said Illinois was his leader and that if he was going to commit early it would be to Illinois. A couple weeks later he committed to OSU. Ryan wasn't before the leader for his services.
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 05:34 PM) Yeah Illinois' interest in Turner was lukewarm at best, as it was in E'Twaun Moore. They would have been in good shape with both of them had they wanted to be. Oops. You are simply incorrect on this. Moore didn't want to play with Gordon but Illinois recruited him hard. And Illinois recruited Turner very hard. He got an offer early in his junior year when he visited with Peoples (who is at ND).
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 04:35 PM) They played well against the Illini in Champaign this year, losing by only 5 or 7, although we all know games vs. NIT teams dont count. Illinois beat them by 14
  18. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) Agree, but he still had that s***ty grin like he just made the guy his b**** or something. Can't stand him. I love when bad basketball players are cocky as hell. Also, Purdue is really lucky the game is being reffed the way it is. Their foul on every single possession of the game defense is working beautifully.
  19. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Mar 18, 2010 -> 11:34 AM) Just use the Oklahoma recruiting strategy, pay players. OU cheating yet again. They already tried that when Pat Kennedy was there and while he got talent they still didn't really win.
  20. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) DMac's defense is one of the reasons it's hard to believe next year's team will be much better. A starting 5 of MD-DMac-DJ-Tis-Richmond is not likely to be a good defensive team. And turnovers will probably still be a problem, too. They *really* could use another point guard. Turnovers haven't been that big of a problem this year. Paul and DJ are likely to really improve their ball handling and that is a strength of Richmond's game. Richmond is also really good defensively when he wants to be and Paul should be a really good defender by next year. DMac has to at least become mediocre on that end though. His defense is embarrassing.
  21. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 08:16 PM) I've tried to refrain from internet flaming questioning people's intensity, but this is ridiculous. Illinois clearly thinks they are too good to be playing Stonybrook and so are getting their asses handed to them. I hope they lose by 40. Something is wrong with a team and a coach that doesn't understand what this game was going to be like. DMac and Davis are such talented players but Davis has an incredible amount of mental lapses and DMac is among the worst defensive players I have ever seen. And when those guys are your team leaders it leads to a lot of inconsistency.
  22. I'm shocked that Davis and DMac are off to terrible starts. I never saw that coming.
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 07:20 AM) I think that Pixar has been good enough about releasing original films in a timely manner that they can be afforded a sequel to a franchise. Lets be honest, Toy Story as of right now is the only movie they have done a sequel for, and even though you percieve it as a somewhat cheap knockoff of the original, it could of stood alone and would have been just as successful(IMO). we just had another movie to compare it to. Pixar also has been somewhat vocal in being against the Disney-ification of their originals into sequels, and I think that was one of the main rifts that they had when Disney and Pixar briefly went their seperate ways. There are a few movies that i think they could make into franchise vehicles that could be fun and not watered down(The Incredibles, for one), but I think they will maintain their stance on sequels for the foreseeable future. They are also making a Cars 2 (coming out next year) which is the first Pixar movie I'm not really looking forward to. But they are also releasing an original movie in December of next year as well.
