  1. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 12:49 AM) Does "Cars" really count? In my mind it's the only one that just didn't work. IMO, given the standard set by it's Pixar brethren "Cars" is actually a pretty mediocre film. I agree with that, even though I though Cars was a good movie it is definitely not at the level of Pixar's other films.
  2. An unfinished version of Toy Story 3 was screened today and there has been nothing but absolutely glowing reports about it. Not that I'm surprised but it looks like Pixar's streak of making incredible films will continue. http://jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jim_hill/arc...t-in-tears.aspx
  3. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 16, 2010 -> 11:15 PM) It can be the greatest finale in the history of television, tying the 2 time-lines together with a brilliant twist that no one saw coming and sadly that still wouldn't be nearly enough to make up for my having been bored to tears for half of each episode so far this season. These flash sideways or whatever the f*** they are have been unbearable. This season has been terrible. Even the stuff on the island hasn't been that good for the most part.
  4. QUOTE (Reddy @ Mar 16, 2010 -> 08:37 PM) why is this show not LEADING to anything??? nothing seems connected, every episode seems like it's own little vignette that isn't tied to the others. so f***ing frustrating. I'm preparing myself to be incredibly disappointed and pissed off at the ending of Lost.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 16, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) Hewitt's had one above .500 record in the ACC during his ten years in Atlanta. He's been a debacle, and he owes Jarrett Jack and Will Bynum millions of dollars for one tournament run. Can you imagine Hewitt coaching without elite talent. That would be an epic disaster.
  6. My view on the NIT is that I'm not going to really care if Illinois loses or wins the whole thing but if Illinois is playing in basketball or football I will be watching and hoping they win.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 15, 2010 -> 11:25 AM) Still trying to find someone on the internet upset about the starters staying in until 2 min left. So far, nobody but Felix. Wait, actually on about the 5th message board I searched I did find about 4 people. So at least there is SOME company. I don't have a problem with it but I do think it is stupid to have those guys in the game with that little time left when really only bad things can happen for OSU. Diebler almost got injured in a similar situation at Illinois earlier this year.
  8. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Mar 15, 2010 -> 12:46 PM) Getting to 20 wins was the dealbreaker there. I would have liked miss st. over florida or illinois personally. When I said that I was only thinking more about UTEP and Utah State. I forgot he even mentioned florida. Last post on this subject but Miss St. had a worse resume than Florida or Illinois. They had more bad losses than either Illinois or Florida. Lost a 11 games which isn't out of line with Illinois and Florida and they had less top 50 wins than both. The only reason they had a decent SEC record is because they were in the SEC west. They were 0-4 against Florida, Tennessee, Vandy, and Kentucky during the regular season.
  9. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Mar 15, 2010 -> 12:13 PM) Every team you named, minus possibly minnesota, had a significantly better season than illinois. Florida, Utah St. and UTEP certainly didn't have significantly better seasons than Illinois. Illinois: Overall: 19-14 Conference: 10-8 Top 50: 5-9 51-100: 1-1 101-200: 5-4 200+: 8-0 Florida: Overall: 21-12 Conference: 9-7 Top 50: 3-8 51-100: 4-2 101-200: 8-1 200+: 6-1 Please tell me how Florida had the clearly better season? Florida's good wins were a home game against Florida St., a home game against Tenn, and a neutral court against MSU. Illinois beat Wisconsin on a neutral court, MSU at home, won at Wisconsin, at Clemson and home against Vanderbilt. Illinois's wins are much more impressive. Florida basically had one less bad loss than Illinois although their loss to South Alabama at home is significantly worse than any loss Illinois had. I'm not saying Illinois should definitely have been in but people acting like these other teams had clearly better seasons is just as laughable as an Illinois fan saying they certainly should have been in.
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 09:08 PM) Cause it's pretty much impossible for a team like Utah State to schedule tough opponents. If I were a Illinois fan, I'd actually have more beef with UTEP getting in. I honestly believe that UTEP is the best team out of all the bubble teams, however, they had the worst resume imo. Utah State at least had a great win against BYU, UTEP has absolutely nothing. I have a problem with both getting in based on their resumes, but I've settled down now after I was initially pissed off. I think it is absurd that Utah St. gets in without scheduling a single BCS conference team and UTEP gets in without beating a single at large team all year (and actually losing 2 out of 3 to Houston)
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 09:06 PM) ODU and Siena are two pretty solid ooc wins. And no matter how you feel about the Valley, it's still the 9th ranked conference this year and they absolutely destroyed everyone in the regular season and won the conference tournament. They also have the 17th rpi and are 4 and 1 against the top 50. They deserved a 7 seed. That being said, they got a terrible matchup in the first round. The one thing that UNI doesn't have is athletic guards and that's exactly what UNLV does have. UNLV is absolutely fantastic guarding the perimeter and with their length and quickness, I think they're going to give UNI fits. UNI has the advantage in the post but overall I think UNLV is just going to be too tough, I do think it's going to be a fantastic game though. They definitely deserved a higher seed than freaking California.
  12. Lol of course Duke is the #1 seed that gets Purdue as their 4 seed.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 06:02 PM) Illinois playing in this will be the biggest embarrassment for the program in a very long time outside of the Eric Gordon fiasco. A rare really bad/unlucky/whatever season like 2008 happens, but two times in three years, and now in the NIT? What a hard pill to swallow. I can't wait for the first round NIT loss. I don't see any way with the personality of the players on this team that they show up for this game. Mike Davis shouldn't even get off the bus because you know he won't be showing up. Well maybe this will teach him (because he is by far the biggest culprit) to take every game seriously.
  14. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 05:53 PM) Two missed tournaments in three years. No NCAA Tournament wins since 2006, only one since the magical run of 2005. We can point to recruiting trail victories that have occured in recent years all we want, but the results say Bruce Weber is doing an awful job, and has taken a program he inherited in top 20 (at least) position nationally and brought it down to mediocrity since Bill Self's players left. They should be a lot better next year, but they better be, or else Weber's job should be looked at VERY closely. I've been saying for a while they need to be at least a 4 or 5 seed next year with a legit shot at a deep tourney run (similar to 03-04 or 05-06) or he should be gone. And I am largely a Weber supporter.
  15. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 05:44 PM) You guys took care of business, did what you had to do to get in. Illinois burst their own bubble. Meh, they beat an MSU team without Allen a terrible Purdue team and got waxed by OSU. They got in because they beat Illinois at Illinois so I don't have a problem with it though.
  16. QUOTE (danman31 @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 05:42 PM) Yeah, I don't think there should be an outcry. The bubble got tight on Saturday and that cost Illinois. Utah St. has no business being in the tourney based on what they played and who they scheduled this year. They didn't schedule a single BCS conference team. That is absurd and I can't believe that got rewarded. Hell I would be less pissed if Virginia Tech got in over Illinois.
  17. QUOTE (zenryan @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 05:40 PM) You cant complain about being snubbed when you lose 6 of your final 8. You might have played tougher games but you still need to win some of those. Lol, of course nobody points out that we played nothing but legit top 15 teams except for Minny and Michigan in that stretch. Lost 3 times to OSU, once to Wisconsin and once at Purdue when they had Hummel. Illinois had more top 25 wins than Cal, Utah St. and UTEP combined.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 05:39 PM) I would hope they decline the NIT bid, but they won't. Maybe next year, Illinois will actually try in all of its games. They probably deserved to be in, but that's life on the bubble. Somebody always gets the shaft, and that's why you need to just take care of business. I seriously wouldn't be that pissed if Utah St. wasn't in, but them being in is laughable. That team played nobody all year long. There isn't a major conference bubble team that wouldn't have raped that schedule.
  19. Wow we got f***ed in the ass. Utah St. is f***ing garbage. That is the one team that is inexcusable to be in over Illinois. Why even bother playing anyone good. Just beat a bunch of s*** teams and get in.
  20. QUOTE (zenryan @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 05:29 PM) I dont see how Florida's resume is worse than Illinois'. No quality road wins, same amount of neutral court wins. They have 2 (really 3 bad losses South Carolina is no different than Bradley or NW in terms of quality), Illinois has 4 bad losses. Illinois had two really good road wins at Wisconsin and at Clemson. Had good home wins against Vandy and MSU and a neutral court win against Wisconsin. Florida lost to South Alabama which is dramatically worse than any losses Illinois had.
  21. QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 05:25 PM) I'm shocked they're a better seed than the Gophers. I don't get that at all. Their resume is worse than both Illinois and Minnesota.
  22. QUOTE (zenryan @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 05:23 PM) What is Seth Davis smoking. He said Florida has been playing well down the stretch but they have lost 4 of their last 5 games. Florida is lucky to be in the tourney. A 10 seed is a freaking joke.
  23. Congrats Felix. If you guys are an 11 we certainly should be in but I'm feeling Illinois will be out right now.
  24. With OSU and Michigan St. both in the Midwest it is almost certain that the Big 10 is getting at least 5 teams.
