  1. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 09:08 AM) That's actually the exact opposite of the current UNC situation. The Wear twins and Henson are playing the best basketball on the team, along with Dexter Strickland. The freshmen are playing at a high level, and the seniors are playing some horrendous basketball. Yet Roy continues to stick with the seniors and UNC gets their ass handed to them. UNC's frontcourt outside of the Wear twins is really, really soft. Ginyard is worse than Jordan at Illinois offensively, he just can't do anything, even layups are a tremendous struggle. Ginyard's surgery last year also killed his quickness and he's now an average defender. I'll put it this way, Ginyard is 6-28 in his last 6 games, yet he continues to get 30 minutes a game. Henson plays some tremendous defense and provides rebounding. There's young talent on this roster, but Roy just won't play it. He's too stubborn. If Roy finally gives in and lets the freshmen have the minutes, UNC will finish the season as a dangerous team in the ACC tourney. But I'm not holding my breath. Ginyard is bad I'll give you that. I still think Thompson is a much better player than the Wear twins or Henson at this point but I could also see UNC surpassing him if given enough minutes. Also Ginyard is a much better offensive player than Jordan. Jordan is a low major division one basketball player who has an incredibly high turnover rate despite never attacking, who can't shoot and has about the most incredible negative impact on a team I have ever seen. He is -66 in Big 10 play. The majority of the team is positive and the next worse number is Keller at -16. That is staggering.
  2. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jan 31, 2010 -> 09:43 PM) LOL, UNC is about to lose at home by around 15 to the consensus last place team in the pre-season ACC pick Virginia Cavaliers. Reminds me of the 02-03 dark days. This team doesn't have much talent, and Roy won't play the talent in favor of the s***ty seniors marcus ginyard and deon thompson. Seven McDonald's All Americans isn't a lot of talent? Granted the Wear twins and Drew were laughable selections but still. And I haven't watched as much UNC as you obviously but Thompson is a hell of a lot better option than the Wear twins and John Henson. And he is having a great season statistically.
  3. Demarcus Cousins, Calipari and Kentucky are everything that is wrong with college basketball.
  4. God I wish Porter had returned that for a TD. That would have been amazing if the Vikings would have lost on a Favre pick 6.
  5. The most boring post season ever continues. Hopefully the NFC title game or Super Bowl will actually be good.
  6. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 10:14 PM) Jordan gives the team nothing. Cole actually does provide lock down D. It's time to play the freshman and let them gain as much experience as possible. A tourney bid is pretty unrealisic without 2-3 upsets. LOl, Cole's D is average at best. He had a good game on D against Hummel that is it. He helps constantly when there is no need to which leads to wide open 3s consistently including Shurna's dagger today. He also can't stop dribble penetration against smaller players. The tourney is still alive because every bubble team has such an underwhelming resume right now and the Pac 10 sucks so much it is a legit possibility they only get one team. Illinois has to win the next 3 and then go 4-4 in their last 8 (which will be tough if they don't pick it up) and that probably gets them in.
  7. 0 pts and 2 boards for Mike Davis. Way to come to play. I really can't stand him right now. Somebody needs to do a man check to make sure he didn't lose his balls. Also, Cole and Jordan suck, it really sucks that Bertrand got hurt and Legion was such a bad basketball player that those two have to play.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 10:00 PM) Jordan maybe able to play some defense but too bad he can't box out He can't even play D. There isn't a single thing he does well on the basketball court.
  9. QUOTE (SnB @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 09:46 PM) illini offense just looks completely lost. Mccamey trying to do everything and I really can't blame him. The stretch that killed them was when they had multiple fast breaks and turned the ball over each team. They convert those plays and go up digits and win going away. Instead they have two turnovers, then Paul decides to take a stupid contested 3 and NW gets momentum.
  10. Mike Davis returns to his disappearing act after one good half against Purdue.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 23, 2010 -> 05:11 PM) It's embarrassing that some of these tv guys are ignoring Caliparri's past. Guy on CBS says he is doing the best job this year of any coach. He should never even be mentioned in that category. Just like Vitale ripping on all the guys who used steroids while praising Calipari constantly when he was doing a Kentucky game. What a joke.
  12. Not that I've watched ESPN that much this year, but I do find it funny that when the Big 10 is down you hear about it non stop but this year's Pac 10 is quite possibly the worst major conference in basketball ever and I haven't heard them take near the abuse the Big 10 does in a down year and the Big 10 has never been even close to this bad. I don't think the Pac 10 deserves a single at large team.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 10:30 AM) To be fair, the Winter Olympics don't really matter... The Summer is definitely the bigger and better event, but I love the Winter Olympics as well. Skiing, the sled, and speed skating are all fun to watch and I love Olympic Hockey. I also developed an interest in curling when I was up at 3 am and nothing else was on during the last Olympics.
  14. What an unbelievably terrible show Heroes has become. Why do I bother? I really wish I wasn't borderline OCD and could stop watching shows when they become this awful.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 09:36 PM) What happened to Purdue? They have no confidence in their game at all. Just a few weeks ago, they looked amazing against WVU. Seems like some really bad recruiting for Purdue since the outstanding junior class. Purdue is done once those JRs leave. And Painter flat out quit on the 2012 class from Indiana which is loaded. Their recruiting is going really poorly.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 19, 2010 -> 11:00 PM) It's a one man team right now. McCamey is really having a great junior season. Davis looks to have found a little confidence in his game, at least. When you're down 8 against a tournament team and have Jordan, Griffey, and Cole on the court...you know recruiting misses over the last few years are killing you. FT shooting killed Illinois today. I was happy to see Davis finally play well, we need him if we are going to have a chance to make the tourney. Next two are must wins and if they win those they will be 8-2 in Big 10 play going into the final 8 (I'm just going to assume wins at home against IU and on the road against Iowa). Griffey has actually played well the last two games and will be a really good player. But I agree the 2006 and 2008 recruiting classes are killing this team. That and Bertrand's injury and Legion sucking leads to way too many minutes for Jordan and Cole. But at least Cole did a great job on Hummel tonight. I f'ing hate Jordan. I know we don't have depth but i still would cut his minutes. He doesn't handle the ball that well, he can't shoot, and he is an average defender at best. I really don't get the way refs have officiated Tisdale the last two games. MSU and Purdue's strategy has been to do nothing but push and shove him and none of it is called yet he gets called for all and any contact. I'm not saying he isn't fouling but he should be drawing way more fouls as well. But the bad thing is he is becoming Randlesque at disappearing once he gets in foul trouble. He needs to learn to play through it. Also, Purdue commits fouls on literally every possession of every game they play (and it is even more obvious in person). What a complete bulls*** style of defense. They definitely subscribe to the theory that if you foul on every possession refs won't call a lot of it so you get the advantage. And there may not be a more overrated defender in Big 10 history than Kramer. If it wasn't for the holding and grabbing he would get torched consistently. And the short ref tonight should lose his job. That guy was clueless.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 11:26 PM) Yep, one of the most annoying games I've ever seen. Give credit to Kansas State crowd, as they've been the only redeeming aspect of this game. As I said the other day, this might be the worst basketball season in a long time with regards to talent level. Tons of turnovers and terrible shooting. If these are two top 10 teams than this is likely going to be a tournament similar to Florida's first title where there were tons of upsets and a really surprising final 4.
  18. The Texas/KSU game has been a terribly played basketball game.
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 07:06 PM) I remember about 10 years or so ago when the Olympics used to be about everyone getting together in the spirit of competition and watching the United States win everything Yeah but that has always only been the Summer Olympics. The Winter Olympics the US is solid bot not dominant.
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 11:07 PM) How the hell does Avatar win best picture? How the hell did Titanic win best picture? James Cameron has a magical ability to make people love mediocre films.
  21. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 16, 2010 -> 01:43 AM) That was another one I had heard was a good adaptation, forgot about that. The fighting games are a lost cause. There just isnt enough substance to do anything with them. Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Dragon Ball Z, now Tekken. Crap Another name for the Sinestro character, Mark Strong Dragonball Z is based on a manga/anime and there is plenty of material there to make a good movie. Also, the Book of Eli was an absolutely horrible movie.
  22. Conan continues to be outstanding and Ricky Gervais is hilarious.
  23. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 10:55 PM) He's lucky they didnt lose cuz of that. I despise him. This team is such an enigma. Tisdale and Demetri seem to be getting it and DJ is solid. We really need Paul to get going again or we are going to struggle against good teams. Cole and Jordan suck. And Davis needs to get his head back into the game.
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 10:53 PM) Why didn't Jordan grab that ball after the block? He just let it go out of bounds! He could of easily snatched it. Yep I hate him more than just about any player that has played for Illinois. Pathetic.
