Phillies going with a 4 man rotation and Blanton to start game 4. That means Lee only will start in game 5 and won't be available for more than a few innings if it goes 7. Huge advantage to the Yankees. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 10:19 PM) Like one poster said a while back, it seems like every call always goes to the Yankees. It's been like that for years in the postseason. Meh the Yankees had a call against them tonight that might have cost them runs. That line drive definitely wasn't caught by Howard. -

And Utley was safe on the double play turned by the Yankees. At least the missed calls tonight have been close. -

Another missed call by the umpires but at least that was close. It is time for instant replay in baseball. Although I'm not sure how replay would handle those types of plays since how the defense continues the play is determined by the initial call. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 03:18 PM) Chase and Pay Brian Kelly. No way the athletic department thinks that big unfortunately. And even if they did I doubt he would come here right now. -

What the f*** was Jeter doing? Trying to bunt with two strikes and I really dislike calling for him to bunt in that situation in the first place. -

Pedro and Cliff Lee have been terrific in this series but it amazes me how much the Yankees have expanded their strike zone in these first two games. They look like the White Sox right now, taking fast balls right down the pipe and then swinging at breaking balls outside of the zone. Now obviously the pitching has a lot to do with that but that isn't typical for this Yankees lineup. And as I type this Matsui hits a Yankee stadium HR and the Yanks lead 2-1. -
QUOTE (T R U @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 02:55 AM) Wrong, you can waste all of those kids at that town that is run by all kids. Either way, I didn't mean kill kids in fable, I just meant that you could kill civilians.. If you did bad things in fable, you became a bad person that was a thing IN the game. So stealing from and killing innocent people was somewhat promoted and I know thats the way I went with it. Either way, I doubt youre killing kids in MW2 and were on the same page here anyways. And anyway you wanna look at it, the terrorists get killed and good wins in the end anyways. Do you have a mod, because you aren't supposed to be able to directly kill any kids in Fallout 3 (though I've read you could actually kill kids in the previous Fallout games).

QUOTE (T R U @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 11:58 PM) How could you possibly be disappointed that this is in the game? Aside from the fact that the bad guys in the game are terrorists, its a flippin video game. Ever play Grand Theft Auto? Hell, the TITLE of the game alone is enough right there. How about any racing game that has other cars on the road that can be slammed into and wrecked, what about those poor people? In Fallout 3 you can kill ANYONE. Kids, women, old people. Same with Fable. There are plenty of games where civilians can be killed. The main thing here is its a fake video game. I don't see a problem. People are acting like there is a mission where you fly a plane into a building, come on. The game hasn't gone far at all, its a game about terrorism and that particular mission is suppose to enhance the superb storyline that this game has. Thats it. I agree with your point but you can't kill kids in Fable or Fallout. You can kill anyone else however, and in Fallout you can .

I watch a ton of Jazz games and the more I watch Boozer the more I hate him as a basketball player. The Jazz are lucky they have the Knicks first round pick in this upcoming draft. Maybe they can finally get Deron Williams a real supporting cast. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 11:04 PM) And they got to keep the prospects they really wanted to keep. The Phillies aren't going anywhere for a while. On the other hand it has to really suck to be an Indians fan and watch Lee and Sabathia dominate the postseason when you got little in return for the two of them. -

Yankees bullpen outside of Rivera has really struggled this postseason. What looked like a big edge they had going into the WS could actually turn out to be a weakness. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 10:08 PM) Just this postseason. He's just seemed much more hittable overall, and looked worse tonight too (though he only gave up the 2 homers). The Yankees never really had a chance to score, and the Phils had atleast the one chance. And, though barely, the numbers do back it up. Sabathia has been fantastic and is a fantastic pitcher, I just think Lee is the superior pitcher at this point in time. Lee has been better but saying that Sabathia is not nearly as good implies Lee is much better and that just isn't the case. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 09:58 PM) I think the Phillies are a bit underrated again. It's going to be interesting to see what Pedro does tomorrow, but with Cliff Lee on their side, and Sabathia quite honestly not nearly as good as Lee is, they have a chance to take all 3 of those. It's only one game, but the Phillies chances of winning got astronomically better (assuming whoever comes in to pitch the 9th can hold a 4-run lead). How is Sabathia not nearly as good as Lee? I'd like to hear this. -

Hung the curveball and Ibanez gets the base hit. This Phillies lineup just kills you if you make mistakes. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 09:40 PM) The other side of that is that Marte got some great calls against Utley. I thought strike 1 was a ball, and strike 2 was clearly a ball. Agreed. Weird strike zone today. -

Is it just me or is Phil Hughes having to throw to a smaller strike zone than Sabathia and Lee? Every pitch to Victorino has looked good to me. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 08:46 PM) That one, on the other hand, is gone in most parks. That ball was killed, CC has missed his spots badly a few times tonight and Utley has taken advantage when he has. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 01:46 PM) Yes, I think he has an NBA future. i see you looked up his soph year stats, I am not basing it on his stats. He had an NBA body as a soph in really his second year of serious basketbal development. I see him as an NBA ready guy in two years. Lighty did not play last year FYI, he was a med redshirt. I have never seen anything from Lauderdale that indicates he has an NBA future but I guess we'll see. If you are counting him as an NBA prospect than there are an unbelievable amount of NBA prospects in college basketball. The guy has shown no offensive ability to speak of, has had bad rebounding numbers, is really small for an NBA center and doesn't show the skill that the NBA looks for out of NBA PF. He also isn't a great athlete. He could make a huge jump and be an NBA player but the same could be said about any number of college basketball players. Quick edit, sure he could be an NBA guy in 2 years but generally when college fans talk about their team having a certain amount of NBA players they are talking about guys that are no doubters (ex. Buford, Turner) if you are going to define Lauderdale as a potential NBA guy then I could see that. Just that if you argue it that way than a ton of teams have a bunch of "NBA" guys. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 01:02 PM) Figgins is no savior; just as Pods is no savior. But Pods arguably was better than Figgo this season; Pods was better than a lot of players. If people watched all players as closely as they do the Sox they'd see it. That said ... the Yankees' dominance in the playoffs shows it truly was their year. Pods was not arguably better than Figgins this season. Pods was also worse than the vast majority of players around baseball and was generally better only than guys who are bad players. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 12:13 PM) Pretty good prediction IMO. The league is going to beat up on itself however and i think that will hurt the overall records, but they will surprise some people in the tourney. On OSU, you are right, they have had some trouble reloading under Matta so far, but they do have 2 NBA players this year, 3 if Lauderdale wasnt hurt. However I am still not sold on Matta developing these young players. Dallas Lauderdale to the NBA really? A guy who had terrible rebounding numbers and has shown no offensive ability? Do you mean David Lighty? Because he hasn't shown anything in his first three years injury or not which would lead one to believe he is heading to the NBA. He had a lofty ranking coming out of HS and he certainly could have a huge SR year but his production to this point has been extremely mediocre. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 12:53 PM) I like Clay a lot, but I'd agree that there aren't many game-changers on the offensive side of the football. Clay is solid, as is Royster from PSU actually, but those guys really aren't difference makers at RB. The Big 10 really needs to improve their recruiting at the skill positions. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 12:39 PM) I agree. I said as much in my most recent post. I was rather stating that I don't think the SEC is greater than some other conferences. For example, I think the Pac 10 could argue that they are the best conference in college football this year. Mainly because I buy into USC and Oregon both being top tier schools, Arizona is very good, Stanford is good, Cal is solid (tons of talent...two beatdowns but to the two top-tier teams i mentioned). UCLA is solid (they beat Tenn, not that I think UCLA would beat them if they played again this year). Washington is a solid poor football team (Locker is legit, they beat USC and played with LSU). Oregon State has a legit RB and could make some noise. WSU is just terrible though. Out of the Big 5 conferences I agree that the Pac 10 and SEC are both very good and the best two conferences. The ACC is actually a solid conference this year. The Big 12 and Big 10 both suck. And the reason the Big 10 is so bad is on the offensive side of the ball is because as I've stated before the QB play in the conference is horrendous but there really just aren't very many play makers on the offensive side of the ball. Arguably the best two WRs on the conference are Decker and Benn and they both play have bad QBs and in Benn's case one of the worst offensive lines in the country so that lessens their impact (although Decker still is putting up huge numbers). I could be blanking on someone but there isn't a single game changing RB in the conference. A few solid guys but no Mendenhall, Beanie Wells caliber guys that change games. There are some solid defenses in the conference but I don't see an offense in the conference that can put up points against an elite team.
