  1. 5 second call was an embarrasment. Just showed it on ESPN, not even close to 5 seconds. We probably would have choked and missed the shot, but to lose on a 5 second call that wasn't even 5 seconds is just awful. Big 10 refs should all lose their jobs.They are an embarrasment to the game of basketball.
  2. Well we choked horribly down the stretch. Wasn't 5 seconds closely guarded though.
  3. Awful call on that blocking foul. Brock was there in plenty of time.
  4. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 02:04 PM) Someone explain the definition of a travel call to the refs. Half of them are nonexistant( like Carter's right there or Stemler's earlier) or they are blatent no calls(White's rolling on the ground). Big 10 refs suck. That is as good of an explanation as any.
  5. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 10, 2007 -> 01:35 PM) Non-existant travels, brutal no-call pushes from behind, no-calls on blatent rape. Just a bad day for the refs overall. Life in the Big 10. The Big 10 is the worst officiated basketball conference in the country by far. And not just today, it is every single game. Every single ref in the conference needs to go. It is embarrasing.
  6. Nice to see the refs came to play for Indiana today. Two just awful calls against Pruitt.
  7. QUOTE(farmteam @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 09:47 PM) Why. what's he saying? I haven't really followed it. He called out a couple of kids who decommitted from Notre Dame. Yet at the same time he had no problem recruiting kids who were committed to other schools.
  8. QUOTE(danman31 @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 03:00 PM) I believe he was referring to how people from Illinois accused Indiana of foul play. Nobody accused Indiana of cheating.
  9. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 08:37 AM) Randle can't stop fouling Usually it is because he decides to reach in 30 feet from the basket and he doesn't move his feet, but he really got screwed by the officials last night. He got called for a foul while on the ground going for a loose ball which you never see in college basketball. He got called for a foul for holding his position when a NW player ran into him. And he had a really weak call go against him when Doyle posted him up in the 1st half.
  10. QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Feb 7, 2007 -> 07:11 PM) randle puts himself in the stupidest positions ever to get these fouls called on him He does, but 3 of the calls against him have been awful
  11. QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 11:34 PM) "It's no big deal for me either way," Grossman said. "I'm kind of fascinated with everyone's fascination with the shotgun, like it's a play in itself. It's not. It's just a way to get the ball in my hands." Grossman has had plenty of experience with the shotgun -- just not with the Bears. But it's safe to say he's not intimidated with this particular way of getting the ball into his hands. As a redshirt freshman making his first start for Florida in 2002, in a third-and-goal situation during a home game against LSU, a shotgun snap sailed over his head. Instead of catching up to the ball and falling on it for a loss, Grossman scooped it up, turned and fired a nine-yard touchdown pass to Jabar Gaffney. After the game, a Florida win, Gators coach Steve Spurrier called the play "one of the all- time greatest" in the history of football at The Swamp. I found the same thing, I thought I remembered reading that as one of the excuses given for not using the shotgun. Guess not
  12. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 11:23 PM) Lack of the shotgun. IIRC, Grossman doesn't like it.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 11:12 PM) How many did they win because he played great? Not many
  14. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jan 23, 2007 -> 02:24 PM) I think he's earned at least 2 more years after this year before you even think about firing him. He's had one down year so far, everyone is going to have those now and then. Now if they still suck over the next couple of years and it turns out that the recruiting was the cause instead of some injuries and one less than stellar team, than that's another story, but for now he earned some leeway with those Big Ten titles and the Final Four run. His recruiting needs to improve, but his last 3 commits (McCamey, Watkins, and Richmond) have shown improvement. Both Watkins and McCamey add much needed athleticism on the perimeter and are potential impact guys. Like I said, the talent level wasn't there for this to be a great team, but there was certainly enough to compete for 3rd in the Big 10. But then you have McBride get suspended for his DUI, Randle having abdominal and now feet problems, Frazier being constantly banged up, Jamar severely spraining his ankle and then losing all of his confidence, Semrau having to redshirt because of an infection his chest. Just ridiculous what this team has gone through this year. That doesn't even take into account Carter missing a game because of injury and Pruitt having bone chips in his hand in addition to the knee injury now. Very few teams are going to have success with that many players in the rotation being injured.
  15. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Jan 22, 2007 -> 04:43 PM) What's the deal on Randle & Pruitt now? Pruitt hurt his knee against Wisconsin and Randle has been having problems with his feet. It is possible both play, but Weber said he doesn't think either will.
  16. Good chance Brian Randle and Shaun Pruitt won't be playing for Illinois tomorrow. The amount of injuries this team has had this year has been ridiculous. They were never going to be a great team even without all the injuries, but they had a chance to be very solid.
  17. QUOTE(scotty22hotty @ Dec 28, 2006 -> 03:35 PM) Buehrle is worth less than Garcia Explain?
  18. QUOTE(whitesox61382 @ Dec 15, 2006 -> 03:49 PM) whitesoxfan99, if you call someone a worthless human being I would like to know the justification. I can understand being mad at Sampson about the Gordon situation, or not liking the fact that he made a few too many calls recruiting, but that certainly doesn't make a person a worthless human being. He is one of the most respected coaches in the game, routinely does community service/programs to help kids(especially in poor communities), and has a reputation of being one of the good guys in the game. I think calling him a worthless human being is a little harsh, especially if you are not going to provide justification for your feelings. Hyperbole. It would be better to say I have no respect for the man at all. But a man who cheats while being the head of an ethics committee clearly has moral issues. His players never graduate and a lot of coaches question his ethics so I don't buy the rep as being one of the good guys.
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) Interesting article in today's Trib. I had no idea that the one kid Illinois got that was so big, had committed to ND twice. So are Illinois fans going to give this kid death threats and nasty emails? 1. Gordon never got death threats. I'm sure he did get nasty emails, you basically screw a team over and the fans are going to be pissed. 2. Benn never publicly committed, not the same at all. Kids give silent verbals all the time and then change their minds. 3. Basketball and football recruiting are very different. Every coach in college football goes after committed recruits all the time. Illinois has lost tons of verbal recruits in football over the last few years. And speaking for myself, I have stated that I don't think Sampson did anything wrong in this case. I think the man is basically a worthless human being, but thats not important. My anger was towards the Gordon family for lying to and leading on the coaching staff during the entire recruitment.
  20. QUOTE(ChiSox9 @ Dec 12, 2006 -> 12:29 PM) Either way Boras is a jagoff! From what I have been reading he is the reason there is stalling in the BoSox contract talks. He is looking to assist Matsuzaka in buying out his option with the Japan leauge and bring him to free agency (which the league has now shot down). If you want to point fingers on the rising price of FAs and players in general... he would be a good start! Boras may be a jagoff, but the owners don't have to give his clients money. The rising price of FAs is on the shoulders of the owners not some super agent.
  21. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 10, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) Woah, this can't be correct. Tony Romo and the best team in the NFC -- probably in the NFL, probably ever -- are losing to the Saints? To the Saints? That's funny... Bears lose by four to a top four AFC team and are pretty much guaranteed to lose to Dallas in the first round. I wonder what that says if Dallas loses gets destroyed by an NFC team that probably isn't even in the top three of their conference. The Saints are good and Reggie Bush is starting to look freakin awesome.
  22. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 10:25 PM) Someone explain how this makes any sense, because i'm not seeing it: It doesn't
  23. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) Meh, I dont see how this trade helps us this year unless we are flipping them for something else. I'm not sure this trade helps us in the future either. Unless they are flipped for a real valuable piece this trade is just terrible.

    QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) Some of the human reactions are not too realistic. I see a mushroom cloud and think there is a nuclear war going on and I dont think I am taking my kid out trick or treating. I may be wrong, but I think that episode was a few weeks after the bomb went off. It is impossible to know how you would react in that situation. At that point you might just want to give your kids a fun normal night.
  25. QUOTE(THEWOOD @ Dec 3, 2006 -> 06:49 PM) Florida is 2nd in the Harris poll, they even got 1 first place vote. http://www.harrisinteractive.com/news/news..._Dec_3_2006.pdf That person should have their voting rights revoked.
