  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 06:49 PM) Ok, Illinois fans, please explain something to me. I look at the illiniboard, and they're praising Chester Frazier for his game so far tonight. Am I watching a different game? He's out of control, and I think people are confusing hustle for overagressiveness. When has he been out of control tonight? He has played good D outside of the really dumb foul on Smith and he has been fine on offense tonight.
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 12:59 AM) What's the point of this 1st round of games? The U.S. and Canada both have 2 losses, and might end with 3 in 5 games, and are still moving on? Lameness. They eliminate 4 of the 12 teams and it seeds the medal round.
  3. Section 1. Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan vs. Baba O' Reilley - The Who Section 2. All Along The Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix vs. Street Fighting Man - The Rolling Stones vs. A Day In The Life - The Beatles
  4. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 06:28 PM) How nice would Dawkins look on the IU sideline. What has any Duke assistant coach done with a head coaching position to make you think Dawkins would do a good job? Amaker has done nothing at all. Quin Snyder has been a joke and Mike Brey has done very little of worth at Notre Dame.
  5. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 01:00 AM) People just cant afford to drop 900 bucks for a video game system. A lot of people who could afford it would probably decide it wasn't worth it as well. You would be better off just buying a PC if that was the case.
  6. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 12:32 AM) I feel the same way about executing people. If the chance is 1% that the wrong person could be killed, it's too much. ^^^^
  7. QUOTE(minors @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) How about to a confessed baby killer with DNA matches on murder weapon and on victim. Stick him in jail for life and let the inmates have their way with him
  8. QUOTE(minors @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 12:15 AM) In murder cases where the crime is so harsh then yes the DP is the only way. The chance is to great for him getting out. Even it means he has 1% chance that is 1% to much Then how do you handle the problem of potentially killing innocent people by implementing the death penalty? It can't work both ways. I still wouldn't be in favor of the death penalty but if there was 100% certainty that a party was guilty I could understand those that were in favor of it. With that not being the reality I find it nearly impossible to support the death penalty in any case.
  9. QUOTE(minors @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 12:05 AM) Well it isn't about costs it is about justice. Also we need to speed up appeals to make them only have one. So in your mind the only way to have justice is for the death penalty to be administered?
  10. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Feb 18, 2006 -> 11:38 PM) I have seen a million names tossed around as possibilities (even slight ones) for the IU job and some were interesting. Some names thrown around that I haven't seen on here are Memphis' John Calipari, Florida's Billy Donovan and Pitt's Jamie Dixon. I have no idea if any are real possibilities or even a good fit. But one name that might be, should they not go with a "name" is Dana Altman from Creighton. I'll be curious to see how the process goes, but at this point, there seems to be no end to the speculation. Now I just hope they don't go out and lay down @ Illinois tomorrow. Calipari=scum. Great recruiter but his players seem to have a habit of ending up with expensive coats and jewelry. Not sure why IU would want to associate with him. Donovan has been a career underachiever outside of the NC appearance and he had done a good job this year. Nothing special there.
  11. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 18, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) Bad, bad move if you missed this. Last years was better
  12. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 18, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) WTF is that what a lame ass ending That was a really good dunk contest until the dunk off. Too bad they killed it by screwing Iguodala. Should have just let them do another dunk.
  13. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 18, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) Is TNT frozen for anyone else? Mine is working
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 18, 2006 -> 09:14 PM) Nate has ups. Yeah he does. What the hell was Josh Smith doing though?
  15. Does any team in the country have players who whine and cry to the officials more after being called for a foul than Iowa?
  16. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 18, 2006 -> 01:28 PM) WH said Dee, Luther, and Williams all said the same thing when Self left, and they didn't leave. Not completely accurate. There were rumblings of potential transfers but none of them ever said they were leaving and I know Luther didn't. Dee was quoted as being 50/50 but that was quickly refuted by his mom who said he wasn't going anywhere.
  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 18, 2006 -> 10:53 AM) I just want to say I wish NBC would show figure skating on some other channel. I think I hate watching that more than anything. It is one of their highest ratings grabgers so that is never going to happen.
  18. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 02:12 PM) Are you trying to tell me that I'm wrong? I'll have to agree to disagree, Mr. Hot Chick. The two best defensive centers of all time could (hypothetically) play during the same era, so the "One And Only" concept doesn't register here. If I say Gale Sayers was one of the greatest RBs of all time, you can't come back at me and say "Well he was always injured!". That's fine, but that doesn't take away from the fact that he was brilliant when helathy. Right now, Camby would make my Top 20 Defenders List since the late 60s. That's why I went as far as to say that he'll be remembered long after he's gone by people who follow basketball on a day-to-day basis/students of the game kind of like ZoomSlowik or something (read: no casual fans). I know, who am I to put together a list like that, since I've only been following basketball since the mid-to-late 80s. Here it is, though. All off the top of my head, so don't bark at me if I forget someone. Walt Frazier Gary Payton Michael Jordan (best ever defensive SG) Dave DeBuschere Scottie Pippen (best ever defensive SF) Bobby Jones Sidney Moncrief Bruce Bowen Ron Artest Dennis Rodman (best ever defensive PF) Ben Wallace Kevin Garnett Nate Thurmond David Robinson Bill Russell Hakeem Olajuwan Dikembe Mutombo Marcus Camby Tim Duncan Alonzo Mourning Right now, active players who already are defensive legends or will be IMO: Ben Wallace Alonzo Mourning Bruce Bowen Ron Artest Kevin Garnett Tim Duncan Tayshaun Prince Marcus Camby Andrei Kirilenko and..... Yep, you guessed it. Actually we are not that far off on our opinions. I think Camby is one of the best defenders of this era who has received very little recognition for his abilities outside of the most avid followers of the NBA. And I agree that he may be remembered by those followers 50 years from now (the post I was replying to just said he will be remembered 50 years from now, I mininterpreted your meaning). The problems with "remembering" Camby is that he has had no accolades and has no championships. He has made all defensive team only once and has no all star appearances. And that is directly related to his injury problems. As for my post on being the best defender at your position in your era you are correct that you can have the best 2 or 3 at that position defensively around the same period of time. That was more in reference to the casual fan than anything else. I don't think Camby 50 years from now will be remembered as a defensive legend outside of a select group of fans as most people just don't remember defense unless the person is also an all time great player which Camby is not.
  19. U.S loses. Shootouts to decide this big of a game=stupid
