  1. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) Its just hard to project High School players. I mean Courtney Brown was supposed to be a sure bet in the Pros, but never has reached his potential showing that even the jump from college to NFL is often hard to predict. Injuries have been his biggest problem in the pros.
  2. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 05:28 PM) Illini with a decent win on the road over Northwestern. The game wasn't nearly as close as the score would indicate. Next up: Minnesota, gotta beat them at home The effort for the last 10 minutes was pathetic. They should be embarrased. And Augustine needed a pacifier today.
  3. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 01:03 PM) it's difficult to tell how good he is, though, because there are a ton of discrepancies in his ratings on various sites. scout has him as a four-star recruit and the 10th best shooting guard prospect in the nation. rivals had him as a three-star and at 147 overall, but that list was last updated last august. The thing is that a lot of observers in Michigan think he is the best player in the 06 class which includes guys like Ramar Smith, Deshawn Sims, and Tom Herzog who are all highly rated recruits. Getting a guy who might win Mr. Basketball in the state of Michigan is almost always a good thing.
  4. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) above is the link to the rivals mention that started this. Sorry didn't even think to check the previous page to see if it had been posted.
  5. There are rumors that Leon Freeman from the 06 class has committed to Illinois. Nothing is confirmed yet. If its true thats a big commitment because a lot of observers in Michigan think he is the best player in the sate for that class. Freeman Profile
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 03:03 PM) If you want an outline of my opinions on Illinois, here it is: Zook has a top 25 class coming in to a school that has SUCKED ASS for 4 years, so I think he can recruit big names. Beyond that, I don't know. In fact, I think he probably is a bad game coach, but at least he is getting talent to Champaign, and that's a start. Bruce's in game coaching has been proven to be exceptional, although nobody is arguing that. Bruce didn't recruit very well in terms of stars his first 2 classes, but seems to have gotten some players in Pruitt, Jamar, and even Chester (and CJ is redshirting). The class of 2006 has a top 40 player in Carlwell, and Semrau was top 30 until he fell to a 3 star mainly because he was played at the 3 in AAU ball even though he's a true 4. The class of 2007 is looking damn good. Could Bruce turn out to fail eventually? Possibly, but I doubt it. So I think the football program is still in deep poop, and the basketball program is in the best shape it has been in in AGES. Not sure how that is being a blind homer, but go ahead and rip those thoughts anyways. And for the record, as of now, Wisconsin probably has the best basketball/football program combo in the league, although that may change with "The Thad 5" arriving in Columbus next year. Bruce's first class consisted of a consensus top 100 player in Pruitt and Brock who made a couple top 100 lists late in his senior year. He did fine as far as "stars" go that year. His recruiting sucked for the 05 class and there is no denying that. However, I do like the players he ended up with. Jamar is clearly going to be a player, Frazier looks like he will be a solid role player at the PG position and if he ever becomes a good shooter he will be very good IMO. CJ if nothing else will rebound the basketball but who knows how he will end up. '06 started out good with Carlwell and Semrau. Carlwell has arguably the most potential of any center in that class not named Greg Oden. Semrau will be a very good player for Illinois because he likely will be a more athletic Jack Ingram at worst. Plus, we got a transfer from Dayton Trent Meacham who is walking on and will likely be a solid player for us. Meacham can definitely shoot the basketball and I wish he was eligible this year. The '07 class is looking very good. Eric Gordon is about as good of a recruit as there is. He is a legit top 5 player who shoots the ball well, has great athleticism, and can play the PG a little bit. Bill Cole is a highly skilled big man who some say offensively has the ability to even play the SF position. Needs to bulk up a little bit but most high school big men do. Mike Tisdale has a world of potential. A legit 7 footer with a lot of skill. Those guys aren't exactly easy to find. Out of the '07 recruits the most "bust" potential as he is extremely skinny, but he is probably more likely to be playing for pay someday (not necessarily in the NBA). Has Weber's recruiting been great? No Is Weber starting to bring in the type of recruits we need to maintain a very high level of success? Yes He needs to get a good PG in the 07 class whether it be Rose or one of the other PGs in that class who really like Illinois. Add either a combo guard or wing for either the '06 or '07 classes (Leon Freeman, Dar Tucker, etc.) and we are in very good shape.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 01:47 PM) In the Bachellorette episode what is the 80's song that Brian serenades Brooke with? Not sure if this is what you want, but I know he sings part of this song in the episode. At This Moment - Billy Vera & the Beaters What did you think I would do at this moment When you're standing before me With tears in your eyes Trying to tell me that you have found you another and you just don't love me no more What did you think I would say at this moment When I'm faced with the knowledge That you just don't love me Did you think I would curse you Or say things to hurt you 'cause you just don't love me no more Did you think I could hate you Or raise my hands to you Now come on you know me too well How could I hurt you when darling I love you and you know I'd never hurt you-oo-wo-oo-o-o-o... What do you think I would give at this moment If you'd stay I'd subtract twenty years from my life I'd fall down on my knees and kiss the ground that you walk on If I could just hold you again I'd fall down on my knees and kiss the ground that you walk on baby If I could just hold you { pause } If I, could just hold you { pause } If I......... If I could just hold you Again
  8. QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 08:30 PM) With regard to Rich McBride, no he did not shoot the ball well tonight, but neither did anyone from the outside. Rich still plays much better defense than Jamar, and I really do not think Jamar Smith has a very good grasp of the offense right now. Most of his open looks have come off in transition. Give him some time and that will come around. No, Rich has not shot the ball very well, especially on the road, but until Jamar Smith becomes more than just a shooter, the Illini are better off with McBride, and maybe even Frazier, on the floor. The thing was Rich's ballhandling and passing was also terrible tonight and he had 0 assists. He brought nothing to the table tonight.
  9. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) Since it might get lost with the tough loss. Chester Frazier can play some defense. The good: -Dee's Pg play, his shooting was off but he did a great job setting people up -Pruitt was a stud -Randle played very well tonight -Chester's heart and D The bad -Dee's shooting -FT shooting THe ugly -Rich McBride
  10. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) congrats indiana on a good home win. killingsworth is a beast, no doubt, and to win when vaden has such an off night is a plus. also props to wilmont. he showed some sack tonight and was better than i'd heard. as for illinois, there are tons of things that piss you off about how they played, but i think they learned some things about the kind of team they are going to need to be in the second half. pruitt, randle and frazier showed me a lot tonight, and frankly they outplayed dee and augie. if those guys can ever get on the same page, i think this team could get on a roll. Killingworth is a good player but what a thug. He should have gotten a couple of technicals for his bulls*** tonight. After calming down that would be my only complaint about the officials. You have the elbow to Pruitt's face, throwing the ball at Pruitt, and then taunting Dee after a block that was nothing special. He needs to learn some class.
  11. Congrats Indiana played well. Our FT shooting if pathetic, figured that would cost us a game at some point.
  12. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 07:38 PM) They're starting to come though. It is actually Self's Junior class that is letting us down right now. Randle has played well but Warren is worthless and Rich has disappeared completely in big 10 play.
  13. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) That's life in the Big Ten. Home teams get most of the calls. Its been that way forever. I know, just frustrated right now.
  14. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 07:15 PM) STOP SHOOTING MCBRIDE, GOD DAMN That last shot was a major momentum killer.
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) By the way, while we're all here, what was the last update on D.J.? Is there any chance he'll be back this season? Last stuff I read seemed like people had no idea how long he'd be out. They said during the telecast that they would evaluate him and make a decision when the injury heals. So it is possible. IU taking it to us in the second half.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) The foul count in the first half was 10-7, Il/IU. Not totally even but it is @ Indiana...and that's not anywhere close to the refs "not letting you play". I was at an OSU/IU game where there was like twice that number. That's not letting them play. Did you see the foul calls that went against Augie and Pruitt? Those were as weak as they come. I'm clearly frustrated right now, over exaggerated, but IU is definitely getting all the calls.
  17. QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) Is there much of a doubt who has the better team? If the refs let us play I'll let you know.
  18. Marco should have been T'd up a couple times already by the way. What a dick
  19. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 06:42 PM) How the f*** is that a foul? Playing on the road in the big 10
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) Ugh, Illini stacking up the team fouls. Refs helping out Indiana early
  21. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) That dude straight up CHOKED. He better hope Mizz doesn't keep riding this momentum. That game was freaking hilarious
  22. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 04:33 PM) Moose drops: 3 Gage drops: 1 Jones drops: 1 GOOD JOB GUYS Moose only has 2 but still pathetic.
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 11:40 PM) Michigan also had players on the field (both teams did). I think this game did show that they need to change the replay system and allow coaches to be able to challenge. It was crap that Michigan had to lose two timeouts just to get two calls over-turned (however, that was a very good job by Lloyd Carr in calling those TO's). Aside from that I wasn't watching the game too closley, so I can't comment on the officiating (other than the way they handled replays). Michigan did have guys on the field, but they were on the field after the entire Nebraska team stormed the field. And if anything those are offsetting penalties. That was easily the worst officiated game I have ever seen in any sport. Those officials consistently f***ed up the entire night and Michigan got screwed horribly.
  24. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 28, 2005 -> 11:19 PM) Wow, great Alamo Bowl. Michigan loses at the end and it almost looked like Michigan was going to come up with a miracle of a play to win the game. 3/4ths of Nebraska stopped thinking the game was over and Michigan kept lattering and moving the ball and finally broke things open and both teams had most of there benches on the field as they were doing it. Lucky for Nebraska two guys at the back of the play continued to play it out and made the tackle. Had they not done that, it would have been something talked about for years and years to come. First off that TE for Michigan was a moron because he should have given the ball to Breaston. The officiating in that game was absolutely terrible. Quite possibly the worst officiating in any sporting event ever in which there was not outright cheating. Twice Michigan has to burn timeouts because the replay officials are inept. A terrible missed pass interference call on the goal line. And then apparently Nebraska is allowed to have 85 guys play defense. How there wasn't a flag on that last play is beyond me. Everyone of those officials deserves to lose their jobs over that game.
  25. Interesting Big 10 score. Indiana 51 Butler 46 6:42 left Butler has already played Michigan and Ohio St. tough this season.
