Sounds like Illinois got eliminated. Rush may be down to Indiana and Kansas. -

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) Aight. I shouldn't take my news from the idiots of at Illiniboard.net. I could go to Phog, but they banned me.(Apparantly, a Bucknell-KU game analysis is trolling). I still think he will end up at KU though. Most of the signs are pointing that way. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if he ended up at KU but not to long ago most of the signs were pointing to Illinois. The Rush recruitment has been a circus from the get go and is getting more crazy as the decision draws near. Classes at Kansas start Thursday so a decision has to be coming soon. -

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) Per Kansas Radio, Rush to KU. They weren't actually confirming anything and both the Kansas boards put little stock in what that station was reporting. Rush's mom recently said she did not know what he was doing and a Kansas source who actually is very well connected to the Rush family has said no commitment has been made by Rush yet and Rush intends to talk the situation over with his family tonight. -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:57 PM) Seriously. I'm fine with that decision. I think you're severely underrating what Indiana's going to do this year. And you may be overrating them just as every Indiana team overrated them last year before the season started. I do however think you guys will make the tourney and a Sweet 16 is possible with the right matchups. -

QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:48 PM) What the hell are you smoking? He'd get more at IU than ILL. Thats very debatable because Illinois will be a better team than Indiana next year. But I can guarantee that Rush would be much more prepared for the NBA playing under Weber as opposed to Davis. The only reason to go to Indiana is if Davis guaranteed a starting spot to Rush because he wouldn't be a lock to start at UI. -

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 04:58 PM) Maybe to that school. I believe scout.com was one of the sources saying he didn't make it academically to Oklahoma and he wouldn't for Illinois(hence him going to IMG). Much of the fear over whether Rush will qualify or not comes from the fact that a couple of schools he attended in HS no longer exist making it more difficult to get their records. From everything I've read and heard he has a qualifying GPA and SAT score. -
August 18, 2003 against the Angels. Washburn had no hit the Sox for 6 innings before Roberto Alomar broke it up in the 7th. Thomas tied the game in the 7th with a two run homer. Then two innings later Thomas hit a two run walk off home run to win the game. Sox 4- Angels 2

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) Actually I'm a Padres fan too, and he sucked there as well. He is a very streaky hitter, he hasn't been on a good one since the beginning of the year. The Sox didn't trade for Blum to be a big bat. They got him because he is a big upgrade over Willie Harris and can actually play a good 3B as well as give Konerko some off days at 1B.

QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) Gordon looks to be heading to OSU and I'm hearing Collins is really interested in IU and Iowa. Gordon hasn't even listed OSU in his last few interviews and has stated that Illinois is his current favorite. Also, almost everyone who follows Collins recuitment thinks that Illinois and Iowa are his top two. And his comments at the Nike Camp backed that up.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 09:39 AM) Finally we catch a break, no pun intended. He had no business going into the draft, but he seemed VERY content with going in the very late 2nd round and getting any money out of it. Now we'll have to monitor the weber/dee relationship after the latest developments. I wanted Dee back, but not like this. I was hoping he would either go pro and end up in the first round or realize that he was unlikely to be drafted early and pull out. As for the Dee/Weber relationship, I think they will be fine. Dee seems to be very sensitive and Weber is extremely honest which leads to problems at times. Weber called Dee out when he first got here about Dee's lack of a mid range game and inconsistent shooting and Dee got all upset about that as well. In a lot of ways, Dee and Weber are very much alike with their personalities in that they are both honest and emotional with their comments. Weber completely supported Deron's decision to go pro so its not like he is against guys going pro early. And while he may not have been 100% behind Dee very few coaches would have been. I cannot recall many cases where coaches have been 100% behind their players leaving early if they were not a first round draft choice. Hell, Coach K was bashing William Avery for leaving early and Avery was a lock for the first round. -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 19, 2005 -> 05:00 AM) All I'm going to say is this definately lives up to the hype. By far the best of this trilogy and I believe it competes with the original 3. Fantfreakingtastic I agree with this. I disagree with Losmedias coworker who thought that the movie was to dialogue heavy. There was as much action in this movie as you are going to see and the action scenes were very well done. The acting in this movie while not great was much better. I'd say this is one of my two favorite Star Wars films along with Empire.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 17, 2005 -> 10:39 PM) I actually consider it good recruiting by Traitao for getting DePaul in the mix since we're not exactly the power we used to be...Quite an understatement, I know... We really can't compare ourselves to a 'zona or even ill... Anyways, I'm excited about the BE, just not about all of the future recruits who have quickly dropped us off their lists... Good luck to the illini... Good luck to DePaul as well, my parents are both alums. Sleepy, quick question is Chandler still a solid commit to DePaul or is he wavering.
-
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 17, 2005 -> 10:25 PM) Julian Wright did not always want to go to Kansas. It took a last-minute visit by Self. Traitao had a good relationship with Wright and his family. Unfortunately, his scheduled visit was going to come after Self made his visit, but there was no need for that anyways. And there really is no comparison between Traitao and weber since he had Dorrell Wright coming to DePaul before the NBA came calling and the incoming class is ranked top 20. That's going to be a very big chance. Talk to me after weber can bring those guys in...and that's a big if... That visit by Self was set up by Julian. Julian was not sold on Arizona, DePaul, or Illinois. So I guess you could say it was poor recruiting by all three coaches in this situation. He called up Self who he had always liked and wanted to play for and when Self came he closed the deal. Didn't say it wasn't good recruiting by Self, just not the miracle some people like to think.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 17, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) If my BROTHER is coaching a kid in my state and I can't get him to come to my school after going to a Final Four, the championship game, and being ranked the top team for the most of the year, should I be considered a good recruiter? Good recruiters for good schools are able to come in and convince kids to come to their schools even if they're leaning towards a certain school. Hey, what happened with Julian Wright? Julian Wright always wanted to go to Kansas and thats where he went. So I'm not sure that shows someone changing where they are leaning too. Last I checked, the great recruitier Dave Leitao couldn't even get Wright to visit DePaul before he made his decision. Scheyer always wanted to go to Duke, and Chris Collins relatioship with the Scheyer's was just as much of an advantage for Duke as Dave Weber was for Illinois. Read Scheyer's comments, he always wanted to play for Duke, this isn't a case of a guy just leaning towards a certain school, this was recruiting against Duke when the guy dreamed of playing there. The Scheyer's basically even said that the only reason Illinois was even seriously considered was their run this year. So Illinois went from having zero chance to "Scheyer being torn" so Bruce must have done something right. So you are saying if by chance, Weber brings in a class consisting of Collins, Carlwell, and Semrau he is a bad recruiter because he couldn't bring in a Scheyer?
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2005 -> 06:58 PM) Exactly what I was thinking. What kind of team is national runner up and can't even keep their own kids in-state? That isn't a good sign. If we don't get Sherron Collins or Brian Carlwell I'll agree with this. As for Scheyer, I suppose Weber should have been able to change the mind of a kid who always wanted to play for Duke, and is a North Shore kid where UI is seen as a backup school. Scheyer was a Dukie from the moment they offered him. I just wish he wouldn't have wasted everyone's time.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 17, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) I really think you're underestimating this kid. He may not be the most athletic, but he's certainly no stiff. He is a smart player with excellent fundamentals. He's rated one of the top recruits in the country by most services. He is a very good offensive player. I just don't think he is capable of being very good defensively. He has a very good floor game, is a good shooter, and like you said he is a very intelligent player. That doesn't mean he can play D. I have said I have wanted him and that he would fit in very well to Weber's motion offense. I don't think he will start for Duke because they are bringing in Henderson in the same class with Scheyer, already have Pocius, Paulus, Nelson, and McClure. He will be a solid contributor but I don't think he is a world beater at the college level.
-
This recruitment has been done for months and Illinois never had a chance for Scheyer to be completely honest. He is a good player who will probably be a solid contributor of the bench for Duke. But he is not athletic at all, and is going to struggle big time on the defensive side of the ball so he is going to the right school because he can learn to flop and hand check without getting caught. He can score but I like guys who can play good D and I don't think Scheyer can do that. I still wanted him mostly from the PR standpoint but would prefer Willie Kemp to Scheyer anyways.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2005 -> 09:29 AM) Isn't Oden pretty sold on IU? No, he and Conley are both have been favoring Wake and OSU. And unless an age limit gets passes Oden will not play college ball because he will be the #1 pick and you have to be stupid to pass that up.
-
QUOTE(danman31 @ May 16, 2005 -> 07:23 PM) Scheyer is a big deal because he is the best player in Illinois in the class of 06. It's a test of how Illinois will be able to recruit off that amazing season they had in their own state. I suppose the thinking is that if Illinois can't get the best player in their own state after going 35-2 or whatever then they aren't going to stay as one of the elite teams in the country. I'm not saying I believe that, but it is what it is. This is true, Scheyer is a very good player and I would love to see him as an Illini. But in reality wings are not that important for the '06 class and I think we have a chance at wings or taller PGs like Willie Kemp who could make just as much of an impact on the court. Scheyer is a big recruit for Weber based on perception more than what he actually may accomplish in college. As for the person who said Scheyer would be smart to choose Duke, the last couple Illinois players to attend Duke were Michael Thompson and Sean Dockery. Ask them how they feel about their decision to attend Duke now.

All nba defensive teams announced

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 12, 2005 -> 11:25 PM) Re-read my post. Here's a quick excerpt of the point that I made: I'm a Hinrich fan, and he's a good team defender, but just about any top-tier guard can take him one-on-one. To be fair to Hinrich who I wouldn't classify as an elite defender just yet, just about any top tier guard can take just about any other player in the NBA one on one. Only the very special defensive players like Jordan and Pippen in their primes can contain guys one on one.
