QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 28, 2005 -> 08:58 PM) Shaq bangs the hooker to put Miami up 2 with a little over 30 to play. Vince Carter send it to double OT at the buzzer. -

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 27, 2005 -> 08:29 PM) .....and on back to back days, on basically the same throwing error! Inexcusable. If the one today hadn't hit Byrnes it would have been a close play at third. But I guess it would be better to concede third base every time rather than try to make a play. I didn't see the one on Tuesday so I can't comment on that but I had no problem with the one today.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 09:06 PM) Reggie Miller Did you see the play today where Reggie stuck out his right leg as Davis was running by and got the call? It boggles my mind that refs still fall for that after all these years. -

I didn't see one so I figured I would start it. And I just wanted to say that T-Mac is money -
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) If QBs Harrington, Ramsey, Boller, Grossman, Manning, Rivers, Roethilisberger, Losman, and Smith fail, then where does this put your argument? That the ratio of success for 1st round quarterback is still higher than that of QBs drafted after the 1st round.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) and hasselbeck? Hasselbeck has had very similar season the last three years with his QB rating being in the mid to upper 80s each year which is pretty solid.
-
QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) Over half.. 17 teams Shouldn't the Cowboys be on that list? I assume Bledsoe will probably start for them.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 05:41 PM) so you are saying inconsistency is a good way to judge if someone is a franchise QB? How does being injured=being inconsitent. When Pennington is on the field he is very good.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) So he can run and protect the ball very well. He is a great option QB. Ok though Whitesox I will give you that one, but only because he got them to the playoffs by himself. But what have the rest proven. Hasselbeck has made the pro bowl and led his team to the playoffs. In 2002 Pennington was one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL and had a passer rating of over 100 and this year took his team to the second round of the playoffs. When he is healthy he is pro bowl caliber but he has had trouble staying healthy the last couple of years.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) really Carr, Vick, Leftwich, Pennington, and Hasselbeck have progen this how? How has Palmer or Roethlisberger? I agree they can be, but to make the statement that they already are is kind of ludicrous. Take a look at the Falcons record with and without Vick to see why he is a franchice quarterback.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) So because there are more QBs taken in the first round it makes a better success rate? Tim Couch, Akili Smith, Cade McNown and Ryan Leaf are not even in the league anymore. I don't think there is a higher success rate because there are more QBs taken in the first round. There aren't more quarterbacks taken in the first round.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) First, we were not arguing about later than 2nd, but after the first. I would say there is just as much success rate in a QB taken after then 1st round. Tim Couch, Cade McNown, and Akili Smith were in the same draft that produced Donovan McNabb and Daunte Culpepper. Peyton Manning was in the same draft as Ryan Leaf. Drew Brees, who some consider last years MVP, was taken in the 2nd round of the same draft as Michael Vick, who may be overrated as a QB. The success rate is the same. You are taking a chance mo matter where you draft the QB. I don't think Rodgers was worth the pick for the Packers when they had other needs to fill. The success rate is no where near the same and you are kidding yourself if you truly think that. Sure there are a lot of busts in the first round but there are tons of quarterbacks that don't even make teams or are career third stringers from the later rounds.

QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) Can somebody please help me? My email is flooded with messages from Sox Talk, notifying me that somebody has posted. In my control panel, it says that I am not subscribed to any forums, but under Topic Subscriptions, it seems like all the threads I have recently posted are on. I have tried to unsubscribe to all of these, but I keep getting new emails constantly. How can I turn this off? Do you use fast reply? If so, make sure that the box that says Enable email notification of replies is not checked.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) So everyone else agrees that T-Mac is as good a defender as Kobe? I'd say Kobe is a little better, but T-Mac completely shut down Glen Robinson in the playoffs a few years back (when Robinson had averaged over 20 PPG) which is something Kobe never has done. Also, when they play against each other T-Mac does just as good of a job on Kobe as Kobe does on McGrady and that is from me watching the game not just numbers.
-
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) It was stated before that Kobe locked up AI in the Finals. Kobe has a couple of all-defensive teams under his belt. I guess I'm wrong along with everyone who voted him in for it in multiple years. Kobe is the better defender at the guard position. Artest and Prince are SF's. Iverson averaged over 35 PPG in that series, hardly what I would call, locked up. Kobe did a good job on Iverson in that series but Derek Fisher was largely responsible for Iverson struggling somewhat as well. Iverson shot close to 41% from the field which is not much below is career average and is actually higher than his career playoff average. Bruce Bowen has made multiple all defensive teams as well including one when he played for Miami so your argument that he became a good defender when going to SA holds no weight. Also, all defensive team selections are often not a great indicator of how good someone is defensively. Shaq has made all defensive teams and he is not a good defender. He doesn't play good man to man defense and watching him try to defend a pick and roll is comical. Guys considered to be elite players get votes for all defensive teams whether or not they deserve it. Doug Christie was first team all defense one year and he has never been what I would call a great defensive player. And there is very little difference between a SG and SF defensively in the NBA.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 04:01 PM) I dare you to come up with an opinion by watching a game instead of what you read on bbbbbb... Have you or have you not watched Kobe? Did you watch him when they were winning championships? I am seriously doubting you've paid attention to the NBA very long, especially with how young you are. I honestly think Kobe is a better defender than bowen. You don't. It's called having a difference in opinions. Grow up and realize that people are going to disagree with some of the s*** you come up with. Having to see you post "you don't know basketball if you think..." or "if you don't agree with me on..., you're not worth talking to" is getting old. And by the way, this is supposed to be a Bulls thread. I don't know how you manage to turn almost every basketball thread into an attack on whoever disagrees with you. Sad. :headshake Who has Kobe ever locked down? I remember him trying to guard Mike Bibby when they played the Kings and Bibby absolutely embarrasing him. I remember Hamilton having a good series against him last year. Bottom line is what wings did he have to lock down during their title run. Against the Kings Rick Fox would take Peja and Kobe would guard Christie who is not a good offensive player and Bibby who lit him up. The Blazers go to guy when they should have beaten the Lakers if it wasn't for the officiating was Rasheed Wallace. The team that the Lakers have had the most problems with, the Spurs didn't have a great perimeter scorer. Last year, Ginobili and Devin Brown both has quite a bit of success scoring. Not to mention Sprewell who had a big series against the Lakers in the Conference finals last year. Also, every time I have seen Kobe guard T-Mac, McGrady has lit him up. Is Kobe a bad defender, no. But I would not put him among the league elites. Bruce Bowen is a very good defender who always draws the opposing teams best wing and is a guy who annoys the hell out of everyone he guards. He is widely acknowledged as among the leagues best and causes guys a lot of problems because he is very sound with his technique on D and he plays real hard. Having Tim DUncan in the middle helps him some, but are you saying having Shaq in the middle didn't help Kobe then cause you can't have it both ways. I would also say that both Ron Artest and Tayshaun Prince are both much better defenders than Kobe Bryant as well. Prince made Bryant look bad over and over again in the playoffs last year and basically shut down everyone he guarded. You have to remember that it is impossible to shut down a great offensive player. Guys like Bowen, Prince, and Artest do a great job of severely limiting them however. I don't think Kobe has done that on a consistent basis. He has had his moments defensively and they just happen to be remembered more because he played for a winner.

QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) Im not trying to argue that he is a bad player... its a risky pick, thats all im saying.. ^^^What he said. And boy do I hope he becomes a good player because I have little to no confidence in Gage, Wade, and Berrian.
