  1. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 6, 2017 -> 09:16 AM) Gotta be fun to be a Falcons fan today. Yikes. That's the type of loss you never get over as a fan until your team wins a title. The amount of things the Falcons needed to do wrong to allow that comeback is just stunning. You could write a book about how badly the Falcons handled that game from the time they recovered the onside kick up 28-9 late in the third quarter through the end of regulation.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 5, 2017 -> 10:16 PM) After that Julio catch, run the ball 3 times, kick a field goal, and they are popping bottles right now. And why did they keep hiking it with 20 seconds left on the play clock? Yep but Jake Matthews is going to be particularly hated in Atlanta too. Two horrendous holding pentalties taking Falcons out of scoring drives.
  3. So that is the biggest choke job in sport so history right?
  4. Great comeback but wow has Atlanta just completely s*** the bed.
  5. Unbelievably awful coaching by the Patriots staff. You need to be in the hurry up here.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 12:44 PM) Taj & Lopez are not what is wrong with the Bulls. The backups yes, but Taj / Lopez are not anywhere close to the Bulls biggest problems. That said, I'd be interested in Okafor. Our biggest area of need is point guard. After that, it would be great to upgrade elsewhere, getting another big, especially one you think can develop into something above average, would be huge too. How freaking bad is Okafor defensively? He's pretty smooth offensively so I'm curious just how bad he is at everything else that is causing him to get such little play. Philly is just killing his trade value. Obviously, Embiid, Noel, and Iliasyova are all taking up his minutes. He's really bad defensively and he is a bad rebounder on top of it. He isn't much of a rim protector and he can't defend at all in space or on the pick and roll.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 2, 2017 -> 01:07 PM) If I was the GM, the first things I'd do is tell Wade to GTFO, sign Gordon Hayward, and then have Butler recruit CP3. I'd also bring in some quality bench players and let Valentine/Zipser/McDermott have bigger roles on the team to see what they can do. CP3/Butler/Hayward wouldn't be the Warriors or Cavs, but those 3 plus a decent bench would make the Bulls a contender IMO. So you are going to tell Wade to GTFO and then tell Butler to recruit one of the guys Wade is really close to to come play for a team that has less talent than the one he is currently playing for? Brilliant.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 03:22 PM) True, but even outside of some of the elite recruits Zook got, Illinois just hasnt made the correct targets a priority IMO. There are players in Ohio that are going to Mac schools or even kentucky that I think teams like illinois could land and they would be stars in the big ten. Beckman totally didnt even try. Beckman was garbage. I have no idea what his recruiting strategy was. Zook actually landed a lot of really good under the radar guys from Ohio and elsewhere. Jon Asamoah, Tavon Wilson, Whitney Mercilus, etc. Talent evaluation and recruiting was not a problem for Zook from 2006-2009. After that it became one because the 2009 team was a disaster and then they replaced basically the whole coaching staff and they didn't really have good recruiters on staff. Illinois had at least 8 win talent from 2007-2012 and had one season where they won more than 6 games in the regular season because the coaching was terrible.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 10:02 AM) I dont see why they cant. Recruiting has been awful and its not because of the school, its because of the wrong targets. Well that and Beckman just being an unmitigated disaster in all facets. Zook recruited a ton of talent to Illinois until the disastrous 2009 season.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 12:34 PM) By the way, given how bad Del Negro & Hoiberg's hires have been...two guys who really had minimal NBA coaching experience, I presume the franchise will look to a more established name or at least a longer term assistant to hire. I would have to think "established" would be high on the list, I just don't know who that would be. We know JR & Doug Collins are tight, but they have both alluded to that never happening. Who would be out there? Avery Johnson never got a second shot and I presume he's been away far too long to be considered again (I always found it out that after that NBA finals choke he never was able to get another job). George Karl would be an interesting name. Very very good coach who has excelled everywhere but Sacramento (which is a wasteland for all things). That said, his run in Sacramento didn't end well. Not a lot of experienced guys sitting on the sidelines right now (who you could hire in-season). Who are the top assistant's out there? Avery Johnson got a job with the Nets after he was fired in Dallas and he had no success there. And Karl has probably torpedoed any chance he has of coaching in the NBA again with his book and picking fights with players.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 26, 2017 -> 11:12 AM) Wade ripping into the team, with Butler backing him up...based upon the quotes I saw, a lot of it was consistent with Stacey King who was putting the players on blast, but obviously deeper. I think a lot of it starts with the tone (or lack thereof) set by the head coach but clearly Butler & Wade are trying to drive change the only way they know how at this point. They know they have a coach who can't do it and a flawed roster, so I'm guessing this was the straw the broke the camels back where they try to make that point. I have no problem with Butler criticizing the team but Wade needs to be way more consistent with his own effort to do that. He is as guilty as anyone of lazy play on defense.
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 25, 2017 -> 11:15 AM) Exactly. Eisner winning a grand slam would be a nice story but don't see it happening. Sock has a better chance that Isner at this point although I don't see Sock ever winning one either. The current class of youngsters for the USA are incredibly talented (Tiafoe, Fritz, Donaldson, Opelka, etc.) but who knows if any of them will become good enough to win a grand slam. This is probably the most promising group of players the USA has had since the Roddick and Blake were coming up.
  13. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jan 23, 2017 -> 11:01 AM) And what kills me about the crowd size issue, if you had problems with the way your inauguration was covered in the media vs. Obama, fine. Reasonable people will disagree, but attack that issue and complain all you want. That fits your "us vs them" campaign theme. But why go the extra step and tell blatant lies that are easily proven false? You just set yourself up for MORE embarrassment and MORE scrutiny. It has been proven time and time again now that Trump lying and flat out making s*** up doesn't matter so why would he stop?
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 12:53 PM) If you believe 4 guys should get in every year for the next 15-20 years, then Konerko has a shot. If you believe only 2 or 3 should get in, then no. You put in Konerko, then Andres Gallarraga, Carlos Delgado, John Olerud, Al Oliver, Dave Parker? And don't forget about McGriff, who should be in, but won't through the writers. It's tough to get in. Even if four guys get in every year Konerko still wouldn't make it. He isn't anywhere close to a hall of famer.
  15. I really wish Hoffman had gotten the 5 additional votes and made it in this year to clear some of the backlog and just to get him off the ballot so those votes could go to more deserving players.
  16. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jan 15, 2017 -> 05:29 PM) Them not going back to Romo probably cost them a shot at the Super Bowl. Their defense getting completely torched is costing them a chance at the title.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 13, 2017 -> 11:39 AM) If he resigns, it doesn't count in the bet. Michigan ain't firing Beilein. I can't even watch them. Hand off, ball screen, dribble around arc. You are complaining about the wrong thing with respect to Beilein. He is a fantastic offensive coach and Michigan is damn good offensively this year despite not being loaded with talent. Defensively they are a complete disaster and they have pretty much never been good on that end during Beilein's tenure.
  18. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 01:01 PM) http://dawindycity.com/2017/01/12/chicago-...x-three-trades/ What do you guys think about these proposals? Sox Asking price for Quintana is currently "3 Elite Prospects" = Yankees: Frazier (OF), Torres (SS), and Judge (OF) Pirates: Glasnow (RHP), Meadows (OF), and Diaz © Astros: Reed (1B), Martes (RHP), and Tucker (OF) Rockies: Rodgers (SS/2B), Jeff Hoffman (RHP), and Tapia (OF) Todd Frazier Athletics: Holmes (RHP) and Chapman (3B) Braves: Sean Newcomb (LHP) and Kolby Allard (LHP) I don't see either of these deals as being realistic for one season of Frazier Abreu to the Rockies Rockies: Riley Pint (RHP) and Tom Murphy © I don't love that deal for the White Sox. Thoughts? Those proposed Frazier deals are insanity. You would be lucky to get 1 top 100 prospect for him. You sure as hell aren't getting 2.
  19. So on Clemson's first and goal play with 6 seconds left why not instruct all of your defensive players to just hold and tackle the wide receivers and then make them either go for the win or kick the FG on one final play?
  20. Lane Kiffin's play calling has been laughably bad in this game. Feed Scarborough dumbass. Reminds me of the game against OSU two years ago where he cost Bama the game by not giving it to Henry enough with the difference being that OSU team was way better offensively than this Washington team.
  21. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 12:29 PM) Am I wrong for strongly prefering the Pirates prospects? I don't like the Cardinals at all as a fit here. I prefer Meadows to anyone the Cubs have but the Cubs could actually put together a very good package for Q but I would need both Happ and Jimenez in that deal as a starting point.
  22. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 11:30 AM) I'd throw Lopez in that "ace ceiling" mix as well, which is all the more reason to go for a Meadows and Bell centric package from Pittsburgh. That said, Meadows and Glasnow would be nice as well, abs of the Sox end up with the "problem" of having too much good pitching, we see what Sale brought and what Q is likely to bring. You almost definitely aren't getting Meadows and Glasnow or Meadows and Bell. I think a realistic package that makes a ton of sense for both teams is Meadows, Newman, Keller and a lotto ticket coming back the White Sox way.
  23. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 06:04 AM) It's not that dark or gritty, I would take my kid to see it but you should check it out first. I agree. It definitely has a war feel to it and its more gritty than the other Star Wars films but there is nothing worse in this than seeing beloved characters get killed off or ROTS. I saw it with my cousin's kids who are 10 and 12 yesterday and they both loved it. I'm sure there might be some kids where a couple scenes might be too intense but I think that will be the exception to the rule.
  24. I really enjoyed Rogue One. It took a bit to get going but the third act is fantastic, particularly the last 5 minutes..
