  1. Demarcus Cousins continues to look absolutely horrendous during the Olympics. Can't defend at all and his offense has been awful.
  2. Never ceases to amaze me how terrible FIBA refs are. They make college refs look amazing which is saying something.
  3. What a f***ing choke job by Press. You can't miss the net on a penalty kick there. Just can't happen.
  4. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 06:24 PM) That would be awful. He's way too good for SLU Zero doubt that recruitment is dirty. I don't think he even should have really chosen Illinois with Groce as our coach but a kid who claims academics matter that had offers from NW, Illinois, and Texas (and then from a basketball perspective an MSU offer amongst others) chooses to go to SLU to play for Travis Ford?
  5. I'm hyped. That was a great trailer.
  6. Phelps is just absolutely unreal. There just aren't any more superlatives that can be said about that guy
  7. It is crazy how far Missy Franklin has fallen. She should have taken the endorsement money when she had the chance in 2012.
  8. Lol at Chad Le Clos. Maybe don't talk s*** to the GOAT
  9. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 07:46 PM) Not great D but s*** eventually happens when you're not striking anyone out And you are allowing a bunch of hard hit balls.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 12:17 PM) Or they trade for him while his value is low, he has a bounce back and they trade him for a huge profit. Yeah, if you aren't giving up a lot of young talent to get him Puig actually makes a ton of sense for the Sox to bet on if they are rebuilding. Worst case is you pay him $20 million the next couple of year to play out the string on some bad teams. In the best case he regains his 2013 and 2014 form and you can trade him for a bunch more young talent (or try to resign him).
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2016 -> 07:22 PM) Hope Q doesn't have a bad start tonight to hurt any possible value Eh, teams have 5 years of data on Quintana. One start isn't going to move the needle one way or the other unless he were to god forbid get injured.
  12. It's remarkable how many strikes Navarro costs this pitching staff. Zero attempt at ever framing anything.
  13. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 19, 2016 -> 05:20 PM) That would be more than fair, but the Astros aren't letting Springer go. And I wouldn't either. Altuve-Springer-Correa is the best young trio of hitters in the AL. I don't know if the Astros have enough after Bregman. McCullers doesn't really profile top of the rotation. Reed is hyped. I haven't checked their farm, but at least last year they probably had 10-15 B+ prospects in their org. That's not what you want as a center for Sale, but they would buy other players. How does McCullers not project as a top of the rotation starter?
  14. That is a huge get. I wonder if they are shooting for a 6 man class comprised of the current 3 commits plus a PG (Frazier or Scruggs), a big man (no idea) and then Goodwin.
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 8, 2016 -> 10:32 AM) Roger going down...to a Canadian? He choked horribly in the last game of the 4th set when he should have easily sent it to a tiebreak. He was up 40-0, lost a point and then double faulted on back to back points.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 12:16 PM) Technically, isn't Steph a free agent. If you sign Giannis you would have room for a max to Giannis and a max to someone in the older age max group (given how the max deals range). Plus, Lebron & Durant will presumably opt-out again and be free agents. Giannis isn't even worth discussing as he is a restricted free agent next year and Milwaukee will almost assuredly just match any offer.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 12:06 PM) They have $50.9M on the books for next year (Wade / Butler / Lopez / Doug / Snell / Jerian Grant / Bobby Portis / Valentine). Cap at 107 would give you 56.1M in available cap space. Two max guys FA's with 7-9 years of experience are projected to cost approximately 28.8M each). So under the previous regime, if we essentially moved Snell, we would have had the room (including draft holds / roster holds). Felicio is someone we could get minimal cap stuff for as is Dinwiddie. Basically under the old scenario it was totally doable, without any major sacrifices. Under the new cap, where we are down 5M, the reality is, the way to do it would be either by moving Lopez or by getting existing players or the FA's to take slightly less than max money (or essentially dump everyone but Wade / Lopez / Butler (which is possible). Wade could opt out and sign for slightly less (but Bulls could add another year to make it worth Wade's while). Bottom line, if guys wanted to come here, they could make it work. Or we get one max guy and one guy damn near max money while keeping Wade. Your math on what is on the books is way off. Wade, Butler and Lopez's contracts alone are higher than that.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 7, 2016 -> 10:12 AM) Apparently back in 2010 Wade told Pax he was coming and shook his hand and said he had to go back to the owner of the Heat and tell him face to face. Pax asked him to sign something cementing his commitment. He wouldn't do it. Pax knew he wouldn't be back. I really don't understand this move. How is Wade going to get a max guy to sign? He's 100 in NBA years. Out of the top guys the one guy next summer Wade may give them a legit shot at is Chris Paul because they are really close. I don't see Wade being a draw for Westbrook and the Bulls aren't getting Curry. If they have even thought that far ahead my guess is they are hoping Wade can recruit CP3 who will then bring Blake Griffin along with him. From a purely basketball standpoint the signing does nothing to help the Bulls get closer to a championship.
  19. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 10:16 AM) That would be just brilliant. Dump a $20 million injury prone guard that needs the ball just to add an older, more expensive injury prone guard that needs the ball. After adding a point guard who dominates the ball that can't shoot or score.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 06:12 PM) One thing about the Durant thing I've missed. Could Oklahoma City have paid him as much the next two years as GSW? My obvious guess is 'yes' with the new cap space, etc., but I was wondering. I'm still very shocked about this. I'm trying to figure out what Durant was thinking in spurning OKC for GSW if money was the same basically. Durant and Westbrook should have won this year. So much for the "can't win in OKC argument." They simply blew that series. If they stayed healthy next year, it probably would have been OKC's turn. Reading Durant's article he said he needed this personally to leave his comfort zone and go play somewhere else. Assuming he didn't just make that up and means it, I don't know what that means. True he's the mayor of OKC so to speak, but living in his skin isn't exactly "comfortable." His team choked in the playoffs and figured to be one of the favorites in the West next year. All I can figure is he truly believes OKC didn't have the team to beat GSW and the Cavs anytime soon. It sure seems like this was a simple decision of picking Curry/Klay over Westbrook/Oladipo. That's not cool. I think OKC woulda won it next year. This decision means Durant didn't feel the same way. There isn't much to think about. He decided to take the easy way out and join the team that would basically guarantee him a championship.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) It's not the cap in general it's the player salary cap. Basically every team could have offered Durant the same amount of money except for OKC. The owners thought the extra year and money would be a big advantage, but players are seeing an exploding cap and realizing that cashing in is way better. IF you take money out of the consideration, you have left best fit and winning. He chose the obvious choice for winning. I don't see why to lower the cap in general, I don't really feel like it's that important to further enrich a small amount of billionaire owners. Yep, if you keep the salary cap and keep it a soft cap these super teams are stopped the moment you get rid of the max salary. If OKC can offer Durant $50 mil per he isn't leaving OKC. Suddenly if it costs $50 mil per season for LeBron, Curry, Westbrook, etc. only home grown great teams are really possible because while these guys will turn down some money for a better shot at winning they aren't leaving $20 million on the table.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 11:54 AM) Wade is just using leverage, he's very good at it. Dirk signing for 20 mill just set his rate, maybe a bit higher. Beside...wade isn't that good anymore so I don't know why that would be game over for the league if cavs get him. I agree that I don't think it happens but he would make the Cavs quite a bit better and it is already game over for the Eastern Conference even if the Cavs don't add Wade. He isn't elite anymore but he is still a good player and for a team without a lot of depth adding a guy like Wade would be a huge help.
  23. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jul 5, 2016 -> 11:54 AM) Has to be a ploy to get Miami to up their 2 for 40 offer. I think this has to be it as well and the only way it isn't is if Wade has decided he wants to take another run at another title and realizes that Golden State and Cleveland are really the only teams that have a chance and he is willing to give up the final big contract for a final shot at a ring. I'd be surprised if he doesn't end up in Miami but every good piece that Golden State or Cleveland adds at this point just makes the gap between them and the rest of the league even larger.
