  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) I wonder if Jon Hoke would be a name to look for. I'm really interested to see Lovie's staff. Mike Phair being retained and sounds like he will remain defensive coordinator which I'm fine with because he did a good job last year. He also was defensive line coach for the Bears with Lovie and worked for Lovie in Tampa as well so there is familiarity there already.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 10:34 AM) Kaplan is angry at the firing of guys that make millions? Aw too bad. Bill Cubit got like an $800,000 raise to be interim coach and just got close to a million dollar buyout to not coach at Illinois next year when he never should have gotten the job in the first place. Anyone feeling sorry for him is nuts. He just made like $1.8 million by simply being in the right place at the right time.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 09:48 AM) Kaplan is such a f***ing joke.
  4. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Mar 5, 2016 -> 05:35 PM) He is actually a horrendous football coach. His OC last season is now a HC and the Bucs were still awful John Fox must be a horrendous football coach as well since his OC last season is now a HC and the Bears were still awful.
  5. Million dollar buyout for Bill Cubit and $360,000 for Ryan Cubit to not coach for Illinois this year after getting jobs they never should have had in the first place. I don't feel bad for those two at all. Sucks a bit for the players but they will get over it, players almost always do.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 5, 2016 -> 12:04 PM) Illinois fires it's coach at almost the worst possible time. With the timing of this I would assume Whitman has someone lined up but we are also Illinois so assuming competence may be foolish on my part.
  7. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 5, 2016 -> 01:11 AM) Gar is a fkn idiot. My gawd. I wish I could knock that smug son of a b out. Either which way, you guys haven't seen complaining to the refs until you watch the Clippers. Blake Griffin, Chris Paul and Doc Rivers are the biggest offenders of that. The Clippers complain the most as a team by far, but Green actually somehow complains more than those guys. I don't think I've seen him commit a foul this year where he didn't argue (including one which led me to make that comment where he just flat out shoved a guy setting a screen out of the way) and any time he misses a shot when someone is within 5 feet of him he whines to the refs.
  8. I think Draymond Green complains more to the refs than any player I've ever seen. Possibly even more than Dwyane Wade.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 12:07 PM) Eh, I wouldn't expect a comedy trailer to be funny so far out. I'm not sure they should be ever funny. Boiler template for comedy trailer STAR COMEDY NAME setup shot CO STAR physical comedy part bad one liner bad one liner title bad one liner I don't want a comedy trailer to waste the best bits in the movie but scenes and bits that they are using that are clearly intended to be funny shouldn't be cringe worthy.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 01:40 PM) While the conference may not have had an elite team with Valentine being hurt for a while, there are what, 5 ranked teams, any of which you could say has a shot to get hot and make a final 4 run? You don't get the "obvious loss" of Wisconsin last year unless you have to play at Assembly Hall, but that's still a grueling schedule. The Big 10 is bad as a whole this year. While there are 4 or 5 teams that could potentially make final 4 runs that is also probably true about 20-25 teams this year since there isn't a single team that is remotely close to being a great team around the country this year.
  11. First trailer for the Ghostbusters reboot is out and I think it looks painfully unfunny.
  12. Way to go Aaron Brooks. You really showed the refs who is boss when you are getting destroyed.
  13. This is pathetic. They aren't competing at all. It isn't like the teams they have been facing lately have just caught fire. When NBA teams get wide open looks on every single possession they are going to score a lot of points.
  14. So many freaking uncontested layups and jump shots.
  15. Horrendous defense by the Bulls so far tonight (I think this can just be an autofill post for Bulls games right now).
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 1, 2016 -> 10:26 PM) 129 points allowed? #facepalm Just miss the damn playoffs and get the lotto pick. Also, no reason to watch the Warriors tonight. Basically every single possession by the Heat the entire game resulted in a layup or an uncontested jump shot. Just an awful effort.
  17. Unbelievably pathetic defensive effort so far by the Bulls.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 27, 2016 -> 11:37 PM) Lord bring back the hand check That would probably be the only way to really slow down the Warriors on offense at all. Of course they area also fantastic on D and if you let Thompson, Iguodala, and Draymond Green handcheck they would be a monster defensively.
  19. Durant was brilliant tonight but he might have single handedly just given the game away.
  20. The Bulls are lucky to not be down 25 right now. Hawks are getting either a layup or a wide open 3 on every single possession but they are 1-16 on 3s despite nearly all of those being wide open.
  21. Also, as a general state of the program post, this will be the sixth missed tourney in the last 9 years and only 2 tourney wins in the 10 years post-Dee. So as I've said numerous times in this thread, a big f*** you to Guenther, Thomas, Groce and Weber for destroying Illinois basketball.
  22. QUOTE (gatnom @ Feb 26, 2016 -> 12:43 AM) I would be shocked if there weren't transfers. Maybe not before the season, but certainly after. Upperclassmen and redshirted players will likely stay. Everyone else is fair game, though. Once again, not saying this as a keep Groce statement. JCL is really the only guy I could see transferring out of the underclassmen (well Black if he is booted from the program). Finke isn't going anywhere and I think Jordan and Williams are both Illinois guys more than Groce guys. Black if he isn't booted probably doesn't go anywhere because he isn't going to want to sit out another entire year after redshirting this year so that basically just leaves JCL.
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 11:23 PM) Obviously I do to but I wouldn't even bring it up in the conversation when discussing whether Groce should stay. He can't be brought back under any circumstances and people tend to worry too much about transfers. Having to sit out a year is a pretty huge deterrent. The only player that transferred after either of the last two coaching changes was Kyle Wilson who winded up being a good player at Wichita St. but he was almost certainly transferring anyways and that includes Dee who threatened to transfer and never liked Weber.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 10:32 PM) Wtf happened in the second half to Illinois? Incredibly poorly coached and they flat out quit in the 2nd half tonight.
