  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 11:39 AM) Obviously this is for pure discussion, but interesting none the less. https://twitter.com/jon_greenberg/status/692386136505847808 Interesting in that the salaries match up? That would be a remarkably stupid trade for the Clippers and even if they decided they wanted to be done with Griffin they would do way better in a trade than that.
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 11:40 AM) The ooc schedule was embarrassing. Barry scheduled to try and save his job and he might have done just that. Still, this is the best team we've had since we were a good program and they seem to be improving as the season goes on too. 2 of the next 3 are Evansville and @Wichita so we'll see what happens. If I had to guess we'll lose both but I'm just wired to be pessimistic about SIU basketball at this point. And this is a team that's just getting worse and worse. Obviously it helped a ton when they caught UNC and ISU because of injuries and what not but still, it's pretty crazy what's happened to them. To be clear, I haven't seen Southern Illinois play so other than just looking at their raw efficiency numbers I have no idea how good they are. I'm just saying that they have actually played the sisters of the poor for their schedule and other than replacing a marginal at best Kent State team with another truly garbage team it would basically have been impossible for them to have put together a weaker schedule.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 26, 2016 -> 09:06 AM) Salukis are 18-3. It isnt like they have been world beaters(they got smoked by Wichita St), but their schedule hasnt been sisters of the poor either. It doesnt make sense but it has been fun so far Um, they have played one of the weakest schedules in the entire country (337 out of 351 per Kenpom, RPI isn't as good of an indicator but they are 291 there as well).
  4. So I think people are going to take too much away from this one game but the one thing that is clear is that the Warriors will have more room for error when these teams play in the playoffs. The Warriors are capable of beating the Spurs when they aren't playing their best but the reverse is definitely not true.
  5. Spurs getting run off the floor right now. Steph on fire tonight and the Spurs aren't sharp. Not a good combo.
  6. The Spurs uncharacteristically really sloppy against the Warriors so far. You cannot turn the ball over against them because they are just ridiculous in transition.
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 25, 2016 -> 05:51 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting...016/illinois-26 21 total commits. 7 3* and the rest are 2*. Not that star's mean anything but it shows you how poorly they really do recruit. What a total and complete shock. We are now going to be in a position that the 2017 defense (and most likely the whole team) is going to be a complete disaster regardless of coach. So rather than hiring a new coach with a solid roster with a ton of seniors they will inherit a complete s***show on defense and they will almost certainly have a worse record than Cubit will have next year which will be terrible from an optics standpoint. So f***ing dumb. Or even worse is Cubit goes like 6-6 or 7-5 next year and we retain him and this staff still recruits like crap and then 2017 and 2018 are both complete disasters and we hire a coach when there is zero talent left on the roster.
  8. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 25, 2016 -> 10:21 PM) The conundrum known as the bulls continues. They consistently play good D and they are consistently bad on offense. There is no real conundrum.
  9. Terrible performance by the Bulls. Gasol played well, Niko had a solid game and Brooks was also solid. Horrible from everyone else.
  10. So Rose injures hamstring and will not return tonight (I was a little confused by what Stacy King said but I think that is what he meant). Hamstrings can linger for a long time if it remotely serious. So now they are saying lower back and right hamstring.
  11. So Cubit's recruiting is going about as well as I expected it to so far. And by that I mean this class is freaking abysmal.
  12. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 24, 2016 -> 01:55 AM) It's an interesting strategy by simon. Seems to be playing conservative as all hell which you don't really see much by big underdogs. What's very strange is that he wasn't playing well at all until about the 10th or so game in the second set. Tons of unforced errors himself despite being conservative and still took the 2nd. Yeah, very interesting to watch. But while he is still very much in this match it just doesn't feel like he has quite enough weapons to actually beat Djokovic.
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 24, 2016 -> 12:57 AM) Djokovic looks really bad tonight. Yeah, quite possible he would be playing better tennis if he was facing a Federer or Murray but if he played this quality of tennis against one of the other top guys he would be getting destroyed.
  14. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 11:05 PM) Taj was a man tonight. He played well and Pau was a stud. Cleveland is such a weird team to watch. Made the finals last year and have a great record but they have been together for over a year now and while they have stretches where they look awesome there are also a lot of stretches where they look really confused on offense and defense and they just get by on pure talent. I don't think it is all on Blatt at all but I really have no clue what they want to do on offense and while they have some guys who will never be great defenders a good defensive coach can get plenty out of Love and Irving. Thibs would be a great fit there from just a coaching acumen standpoint but I don't think the personalities there would ever allow for it. It will be interesting to see if Lue can get anything more out of them because while they are very good right now they have zero chance against the Spurs or Warriors.
  15. Solid win. Of course this is the same way the Bulls have won just about every other game against a good team in the last 7 or 8 years. s***ty offense and good defense and then it helped that the Cavs could make an open 3 or a free throw tonight.
  16. I'm not sure I've ever seen an NBA team have this bad of a night at the line (ignoring situations where one guy like a Drummond or Jordan is just missing everything).
  17. I will never understand how refs give that call to the offensive player when they jump forward into the defender to create the contact like Mirotic did. If anything that should be an offensive foul.
  18. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 09:07 PM) Bulls look surprisingly good. Hope Dunleavy comes back soon. Snell has been awful. I wouldn't expect anything out of Dunleavy. A 35 year old who has missed this much time coming off back surgery isn't likely to contribute much.
  19. Lol at Mark Jackson calling that good straight up defense by Tony Snell. I'll take the no call but that is clearly a foul.
  20. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) I don't think we ever had a shot at Morrow, and I don't really blame Groce for that one as Black "should" be a better version of him (injuries may have changed that though). But not going for Watson is a giant headscratcher, I get Evans/Brunson were priority but he should have been in the mix more. The bizarre part with Watson isn't that he wasn't a priority because I completely get that, but my understanding is that even once they missed on Brunson and Evans they didn't make a push for Watson which really makes no sense.
  21. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 10:21 PM) Yeah, the NBA doesn't work that way. It's not like baseball, where you have an excess of pieces you can move across multiple levels. NBA teams have 12 guys. The Bulls have very little in terms of desirable pieces. In fact, I would argue the only tradeable piece the Bulls have is Gasol. The Bulls would arguably have to draft Hoiberg system players in concert with trading what they can. Right now they have nothing tradable. So what players does Hoiberg need to succeed?
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 09:55 PM) Another shooting exhibition by Avi Mirotic. He and McDermott have both been disappointments this year and Snell just sucks. I'm not really sure what the Bulls do going forward right now.
  23. So the Bulls have only outscored their opponents by 16 pts on the season. So basically through 42 games they have played like a .500 team. The offense is still bad and they are basically all high ball screens and iso play right now with no ball movement at all and no one besides Butler, Rose and Gasol is involved in the offense. Rose has made jumpers the last two games which is nice but he isn't creating any offense for anyone else on the floor at all and him and Butler don't work together well at all on offense.
  24. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 09:23 PM) His system is wasted on a team like this. What's his system?
  25. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 08:37 PM) Bulls continue to be bad. They just aren't good and have played like a .500 team all year. Horrid defense tonight.
