  1. Jordan Spieth is having quite the year.
  2. More great defense behind Quintana.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 02:12 PM) And drops a ball in RF. What a disaster of an outfielder. Absolutely brutal. That ball was hit pretty hard but that is an easy play by a competent outfielder. No idea how that wasn't scored an error.
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) The sox dont. I was surprised. Sale was cruising and had no high stress innings tonight. I really don't get pulling him with the way he was throwing.
  5. There was no reason to pull Sale tonight. Blow this team up including the coaching staff.
  6. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 07:25 AM) Searched the net and came up empty. Is Fulmer pitching for Vandy tonight? I cannot find the starting pitchers for tonight's Vandy/TCU game. Buehler is supposed to be the starter for Vandy tonight.
  7. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 11:02 PM) 2-2-2 His two losses with the Cavs shouldn't be held against him. Yeah and the Heat weren't good enough defensively last year to beat that Spurs team with the way they were playing. The Mavericks series is the big black mark on LeBron's finals resume. The other 3 losses his team clearly wasn't as good as the team that beat them and the 2 Cavs teams had no chance of winning it all (although this would have been an amazing series if Love and Irving were healthy).
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 04:49 PM) I have to imagine that STL forfeiting picks to HOU has to be on the table as some point since it was their information that was splashed everywhere. That is pretty unfair to the rest of the league though. But if it turns out that higher ups in the Cardinals organization knew about this the $2 million dollar fine doesn't come close to cutting it and there has to be severe penalties that impact the Cardinals organization from a competitive standpoint.
  9. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 12:28 PM) Sony presenting a game and trying to fund it via their conference seemed shady as f***. Was really turned off by that. Sony probably had the best conference overall though. I didn't see it and that is shady but I'm just really happy the game is finally being made.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 05:59 PM) So with all of the top 10 slot figures in except for Fulmer and Hinchley, the Sox sit at $33,300 over their draft allotment. Keep in mind that Hinchley will result in a very large savings. If he gets $10,000, the Sox pick up$152,200 in savings, meaning they would have about $120k underslot built up to use elsewhere before we know anything about Fulmer's deal. Would love to be able to make a run at Hickman but that probably only happens if Fulmer is underslot.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 10:30 AM) http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/17/sports/b...s-fbi.html?_r=0 oh snap I wonder what the punishment from MLB will be for this if proven. Loss of an entire draft? Obviously a different sport but the Patriots lost a first round pick as a result of spygate and this is a way worse offense than anything the Patriots have done (well at least that they have been found guilty of). You have to think the punishment here is going to be incredibly harsh.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 16, 2015 -> 10:32 AM) they smashed their goal, and have already eclipsed 2 million Saw that. Projected release date of December 2017 right now so still a long ways off but considering Shenmue 2 came out in like 2001 what is another 2 and a half years to wait.
  13. I'm probably the only person excited by this news but Shenmue 3 was announced at E3 and is being funded by Kickstarter. I might have to contribute to one of those for the first time ever.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 06:56 PM) Unfortunately, it's been a disappointing year so far on the farm. There's no one that I can say with confidence will be a starting infielder/outfielder/catcher/pitcher down the road at the big league level. Montas and Danish still have a lot of doubters in terms of their ability to start. I don't think it has been particularly disappointing on the pitching side. For a 20 year old in AA Danish has pitched pretty well and Montas has been very good lately. There are a ton of intriguing arms at the lower levels as well and Erik Johnson has rebounded this year to the point where he might be able to be a back of the rotation starter or at least a bullpen arm in the future. The position players in the farm system are a complete disaster though. Guys aren't developing particularly well and we don't have much talent on that side to begin with.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 11:59 AM) The last thing the Sox need is the future Adam Dunn. I would take prime Adam Dunn's bat in a heartbeat. If Gallo is capable of playing an average 3b and hits like Dunn did from ages 21-30 you have an incredibly valuable player.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 15, 2015 -> 10:12 AM) Didn't they go to 7 games in the finals against that same Celtics team? Or am I confusing a year? That was the following year. In 08-09 Garnett got hurt and the Magic eliminated the Celtics (after the Bulls and Celtics went 7 games). Orlando also knocked out Cleveland. The Lakers really didn't face a championship caliber team their entire postseason run that year.
  17. It is unbelievable how bad Quintana's luck is. If that doesn't hit the bag its an out.
  18. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 02:59 PM) Its possible, but that was the rumor floating around Sunday/Monday. He put a $5M price tag out there and the Astros were trying to go underslot at #2 to pay him in the comp round, which is why 29 other teams passed on a top 10 guy. He could certainly be lying but Mike Cameron said that the $5 mil rumor was false.
  19. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 02:08 PM) Well, Cameron is getting $5M of that and Tucker is likely to be near that as well, so really they have $7.5 to sign the #2 pick and everyone else they have drafted from the second round on. I would bet that Cameron signs for quite a bit less than $5M.
  20. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 02:00 PM) They have like 17.5 million draft pool plus another 5% on top of that. compare that to our paltry 5.5 million, and yeah. I think they'll sign most everyone. I'm sure they will sign everyone from days 1 and 2. I'm more referring to a guy like Cole Sands who they took in Round 22 who I imagine will be a really tough sign even for them.
  21. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 01:43 PM) Draft tracker frozen? It is frozen for me.
  22. The Astros have had some really interesting selections on day 3. I can't imagine they sign everyone they've taken so far but they've cleaned up in this draft (as you should with 2 top 5 picks plus a comp pick between the 1st and 2nd rounds).
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 11:23 AM) Zavala also was not in BP's 500. .952 OPS with 14 hrs this past season. Not too much to get excited about. There rarely is much to get excited about on day 3 of the draft unless you are taking a guy that has fallen because he will be a tough sign so that isn't surprising.
  24. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 10, 2015 -> 08:23 AM) The East was like 75 games under .500 vs the West this year. How were they over rated? The refs have been pretty incompetent all series to be honest. They missed the most obvious goal tending ever only to over turn after looking up at the jumbotron, which they aren't allowed to do. Then the replay of a call they aren't allowed to review to begin with. It's also amazed me that both teams have apparently played such good defense that it's never a foul when someone drives in the lane anymore despite being clobbered. This has just been an ugly series. And this is probably going to get criticized, but am I the only one thinking people going a little overboard on Lebron this series? He's been great, yes, but he's shooting like 38% for the series. How many points do you think JR Smith would have if he was taking 40+ shots per game too? He's playing very well, but some people are making it out like he's having the best NBA finals ever. That's just not true. He is playing exceptionally well when you factor in his current supporting cast. He isn't having the best finals ever but when you factor in the rebounding, defense, assists and that he isn't turning the ball over at all despite his ridiculously high usage rate you have a guy playing a phenomenal series. The Cavs being up 2-1 is almost all about their defense though. They are only scoring slightly over 1 pts per possession but have the Warriors scoring .1 pts per possession less than they did during the regular season which is pretty ridiculous.
