  1. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 12, 2015 -> 10:57 PM) Why was Spike taking ball out vs Egwu? Gotta switch that Yeah, I get that he is generally reliable but asking him to make a pass there over Egwu is really tough.
  2. Rice was shooting that. It would have taken huge balls by the refs but he should probably be shooting free throws.
  3. Hill definitely got fouled by Irvin there. If you aren't going to call the charge (and that was a clear flop by Albrecht) then you can't decide to just ignore the obvious foul by Irvin.
  4. If Illinois loses this one Groce deserves a lot of the blame tonight. Some s*** performances out of his control but the switching of all the ball screens on defense in the second half was brutal.
  5. Just an absolutely brutal effort by Illinois so far. Egwu and Tate have been particularly awful.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 9, 2015 -> 01:39 PM) Those are a little crazy, but the eye pokes are unintentional. If he at 7'1" could actually poke people in the eyes on purpose when they are playing, and be so good at it, none of the three were called a foul at the time they happened, I doubt he would be playing in his 3rd year at Iowa and averaging about 7 a game. He tries to stick a hand right in their face. He should probably stop that. But the criticism he has received is ridiculous. He is Adam Woodbury. He's a 7'1" guy who shoots layups instead of dunks. Maybe, but he sure as hell wasn't making a basketball play when he poked Kaminsky in the eye.
  7. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 9, 2015 -> 11:43 AM) how long could they have kept all four? I was under the impression that it was Hardens RFA year and they knew that if they signed him that someone else was gonna be squeezed. As long as they wanted (and as long as those guys signed the contracts offered to them by the Thunder). The squeeze was based on not wanting to pay the luxury tax and being too cheap to amnesty Perkins.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 9, 2015 -> 10:57 AM) OKC didnt really have much of a choice in the matter, they had to move him or watch him walk. Extremely bitter pill to swallow, but they couldnt pay Durant/Harden/Westbrook all the max. I suppose they could have, and attempted the Heat model, but even the Heat model had Lebron and Wade taking a little bit less. Harden wanted to get paid They could have paid him and he wouldn't have had to take less money since he was their own free agent. They coupe have kept Durant/Harden/Westbrook/Ibaka together but didn't want to pay the luxury tax. Horrible move
  9. So the rule is that you can apparently call a common foul there (but that wasn't called) because Tate crossed the free throw stripe and made contact with Tate (although Trice flopped like crazy and there wasn't a lot of contact) but I literally don't think I've ever seen a player get called for a common foul for boxing out a shooter. However, the ball was live when the contact was made so the refs completely blew the call which is inexcusable given that they went to the monitor to make the call. But per usual there won't be any consequences for the refs literally making up a call.
  10. Bwhahaha. So f***ing ridiculous. I think the explanation makes it even worse. The ball is live after a shooter shoots a free throw on the front end of a one and one f*** faces. And Tate barely made any contact with Trice and Trice flopped like a little b****.
  11. Also, Dakich likes to b**** about flopping constantly (as he should) but didn't point out Trice's ridiculous flop when Tate barely bumped him. Anyone who has played sports knows that Tate's contact there isn't even close to enough to knock someone down.
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 7, 2015 -> 02:43 PM) Dakich on Twitter being adamant it was a flagrant foul. I don't know if it's in the rule book, but if so, it's absurd. So every time a shooter gets boxed out on a live ball its a flagrant foul? Because that is what happened. That was a one and one situation so the ball is live when it leaves Trice's hand.
  13. Huge win playing 5 on 8 for Illinois today. Groce should rip into the refs in his presser despite the win. Jesus the refs were ridiculously bad.
  14. If Illinois loses this is 100% on the refs. Illinois won this game.
  15. Wow, f*** off refs. That is the most absurd call I have ever seen.
  16. Seriously, since when are you not allowed to box out a shooter?
  17. Costello throws Starks out of the way for a rebound and no call. Announcers are so biased for MSU it isn't even funny. Trice barely even got touched there.
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 7, 2015 -> 01:55 PM) I know most illinois fans don't like him, but I think they'll miss some of the things Egwu does next year. ? Thought it looks clearly off Costello. I like that announcers clearly ignore that Costello's hand was in there. Officiating has been ridiculous in MSU's favor in this game. Especially since Costello also got away with a clear foul going for that rebound.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 7, 2015 -> 01:55 PM) I know most illinois fans don't like him, but I think they'll miss some of the things Egwu does next year. They will miss him some on defense but he generally is a poor rebounder and he is brutal on offense. Today he has been fantastic. If he played like this all of the time everybody would love him.
  20. And Jaylon Tate just killed Illinois in that stretch. Airballs a wide open 3 which leads to a run out for MSU and then commits an offensive foul.
  21. And Nunn needs to finish that layup but he clearly got fouled there as well. Sigh.
  22. Lol at that not being a foul on Valentine on that shot Hill made. Just incredibly obvious.
