  1. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 21, 2014 -> 01:58 PM) Clausen actually looks really good. He's already thrown a couple passes that could have been picked and has completed one pass more than like 5 yards down the field.
  2. I really hope things go off the rails early to see how bad things get.
  3. Amazing shot by Rice to end it. Terrible performance by Illinois but at least they won. Biggest issues remain Cosby mysteriously forgetting how to shoot and really bad shot selection. When they don't settle for bad shots they efficient offensively but every guy except for basically Nunn just take so many bad shots. That is a coaching issue at this point, I like that Groce gives guys the green light and has them playing with confidence but there is a happy medium between Weber ball crushing players souls and this.
  4. Did they even scout Missouri or are the players just a bunch of f***ing morons? Williams can't dribble at all with his right hand and yet Illinois continues to let him go left every time he touches the ball.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 01:05 PM) He seems like big bust potential to me. Didn't he just have an 0-10 game? In high school for a good player that's unheard of. Meh. It is a game they won by like 80 and he has been great against better competition.
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 09:57 PM) Eighth time bears have gone into the half with seven or less points this year including four shutouts. Trestman is an offensive genius.
  7. The best thing that can happen to the Bears franchise is another embarrassing blowout. I hope the Saints crush the Bears tonight.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 09:01 PM) Lol, the Bears are hilariously bad Fixed
  9. Groce clearly isn't Bo Ryan. Decent coach but he needs to have great talent to win big. He is upgrading the talent but it isn't quite there yet and he isn't a guy that can win big without it. This team should still be good this year but if Cosby and Starks are going to play like this the team is doing nothing. There are 7 players on this team that should be getting pt and 2 of them are proven shooters who can't make shots right now. Not good but Groce needs to stop being so set on rotations and let guys stay out there if they are making plays. Cosby has been awful but he finally made a 3 tonight and came out right after that. Let him stay in for a bit and see if you can get him going. We aren't winning a anything if he doesn't start playing like he did at Seton Hall anyways.
  10. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 13, 2014 -> 09:08 PM) The Big Ten is not good at all. Do you guys really want to still fight me on that? Agreed. Nobody but Wisconsin and maybe OSU looks any good.
  11. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 10:22 AM) It's just not clicking for him, my one big worry is that his shot is that awful flat type, did he just get lucky for a year at Seton Hall or was that true talent to score? I'm not that worried about the Illini, I figured we'd lose both of these games, it's just disappointing that we aren't shooting as well as we should be and that's really holding us back. But Hill and Rice are going to keep us in a lot of games, hopefully Nunn plays more and gets into a good groove as well. He shot 38% from 3 as a freshman as well and he took a lot of 3s both his freshman and sophomore year so he didn't just get lucky when it comes to making shots.
  12. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 09:18 PM) Cosby has been the most disappointing player, he's brought nothing thus far. If he and Starks don't start hitting shots this team just won't be that good. They both have proven track records on high shot diets so it would be really surprising if they don't start making shots but it is certainly a cause for concern.
  13. QUOTE (gatnom @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 09:07 PM) Problem is that Starks isn't all that good either. He is at least an offensive threat. Tate is the worst offensive guard Illinois has ever had. Edit to clarify I mean this as a scholarship guard that gets minutes.
  14. Jaylon Tate should never see the floor. Awful basketball player.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2014 -> 11:49 AM) Bears plan to can Tucker after season. http://www.csnchicago.com/bears/report-bea...er-after-season Unless Trestman goes along with him this does nothing for me.
  16. Hopefully this year leads to an 8 team playoff. I realize you then have a debate over the 9th best team being led off but if you give automatic bids to the ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Pac 12, and SEC champions a bid and then have 3 at large spots it will be incredibly rare for a championship caliber team to be left out.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2014 -> 02:02 PM) Pretty sure that's as bad as losing to app state. I'd argue it was worse.
  18. This would be as bad as a loss as I've ever seen. Home against a low major team that is around 300 in Kenpom in a game where Lavert was on fire? Holy crap.
  19. Kentucky's defense is incredible. There are times their offense can be pretty ugly but they have so much size they are efficient even when they aren't shooting well.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 01:01 PM) Nebraska hire reminds me of Gene Chizik. So all they need to do now is buy a Heisman level QB to come play for them and then get an offensive coordinator who is the real brains behind the operation and they can compete for a national title, suck when they offensive coordinator leaves, fire Riley, and then hire the offensive coordinator back to win again?
  21. Even with how unpredictable March Madness can be its pretty tough to see anyone other than Kentucky or Duke winning the title this year.
  22. North Carolina is a really unimpressive team. Really good athletes but the skill level isn't high and no one except for Paige can shoot.
  23. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 3, 2014 -> 11:44 AM) Egwus core numbers haven't improved since his sophomore year and his advanced metrics have gotten even worse. Everyone thought he'd be a breakout star after the last time we played Miami and he's literally gotten worse. As you mentioned his hands are so, so bad. Some of the worst I've ever seen, and you can't teach good hands. He is also one of the dumbest players I've seen. I cannot understand it, he seems like a smart kid otherwise but he has 0 basketball instinct. Last night he was routinely outsmarted by a guy who has only played the game for a few years. 1. Cosby I think will be fine. He looks the part. Just a terrible luck stretch right now. 2. Yep. 3. I still like Colbert as a backup going forward. Black looks good playing down low. Still, yeah, the big weak point of the team. 4. Hill played mostly well but he made some really dumb plays yesterday. Nunn needs to become more of a focal point. 5. Starks will be better than he showed last night. How could he not be? But yeah PG is our other big problem. The same position imbalances that were Weber's downfall are currently destroying Groce in year 3 as well. I'd be stunned if Cosby and Starks don't start making shots. Those are guys who are both proven shooters at the high major level. I don't think you need a real PG to be successful but we do need to find more capable big men (although we are perfectly fine at PF going forward and Darius Paul should help a lot at center next year). The key is that if you don't have a good PG you need multiple multi-dimensional guards/wings that can create. Michigan was the best offensive team in the country last year because of their wings. Their PGs made wide open shots at a nice clip but neither Walton or Albrecht was a big part of the offense or creating for others. We will be really good offensively as long as Starks and Cosby both get back to being the 40% 3 pt shooters which they have always been.
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 11:30 PM) I know someone was on here 2 years ago saying similar things. Also that he can't shoot or create. Just had vision.? The shooting is what kills him. Unless you are an absolute freak athlete its impossible to create if you aren't at least a threat.
  25. QUOTE (Boogua @ Dec 2, 2014 -> 11:13 PM) 1-10 with 1 assist is pretty awful. Starks cost the team possessions with just terrible shot selection. I'm not saying Tate played well by any means, but I would have rather watched him more with Nunn, Hill, and Rice than Starks tonight. All in all, they were both terrible. The answer is not playing a PG at time. Tate isn't a Big 10 level guard and if he didn't play for Simeon in high school he wouldn't have been offered a scholarship.
