QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 11:57 AM) Most of his defensive problems are just a lack of fundamental preparation, especially to his left where he rounds way too many balls off instead of putting the bill of his cap over his bellybutton and the ball. That's very correctable with time and experience.typical KW draft pick.great athlete, looks fab in the uniform. Only problem is he's not a baseball player.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 12:44 PM) I might rank Evan Skoug higher than anyone drafted this season besides Sheets and Burger. It is so nice to have a little hope again regarding the future. The pitching was already starting to look good and now adding some serious bats. 2019 can't come soon enough.

Over the last 6 weeks or so Guerrero has pitched like a top prospect again. His secondary numbers are even better than almost all Sox prospects. Does anyone know if his wildness last year was injury related and if so, does he have a chance to make it to Chicago ?

What is this young left handed pitchers ceiling?

QUOTE (SoxFan2003 @ Jun 5, 2017 -> 12:27 PM) I have questions about this too. How many times did he get beaned after that considering this took place "back in the day" when players knew how to "play the right way" and "act like they've been there before"? I watched Harry and Jimmy as a teen . Little did i Know what I was watching. Probably the best duo ever to do baseball. honest and direct always, and funnier than hell. Cubs fans worshiped Harry but never saw him at his greatest. Jimmy brought that out almost every game. R I P Jimmy .

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 28, 2017 -> 11:01 PM) yea and he was usually young for his age, certainly a interesting player now that he's hitting in MLB. Yolmer could be a really good 2B for many years to come. What about a 2019 outfield of Robert,Moncada and Avi? -

When is "vote for yolmer" T-shirt night ? -
QUOTE (WBWSF @ May 21, 2017 -> 08:02 AM) All in all he seems to be doing a good job. You can't expect him to compete for the Playoffs this year considering the talent he has been given. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken s***. does anyone think that the huge improvement in avi and yolmer this season has something to do with renteria instilling confidence in their abilities? I don't know if it is, but some people have a knack for inspiring others. p.s. I'm enjoying this season more than any season in many years. good vibes.

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ May 18, 2017 -> 02:15 PM) I feel like wherever Moncada is best is where he winds up. There's no reason to force him into a position on a bad baseball team. Don,t know if sanchez will keep hitting, but he did hit for a high average in the minors. isn't 2nd base one of the positions where it is easy to be seriously injured? I would hate to get the new face of the franchise banged up turning a tough double play . And it does look like sanchez is a good defender there.

QUOTE (SoxChinMusic @ Mar 29, 2017 -> 12:24 PM) Absolutely agree. In order to get the proper balance of pitcher(s) and position player(s) w/o sacrificing the quality of prospects, Whitley has the ability to be a TOR starter also. If we were to back off asking for Martes, this may allow us to also get Stubbs. In order to get Stubbs, if we had to work in Jennings or DR, we can do it. Worst case, IF the Astros balk, we could accept Reed and not Whitley with additional tinkering. Reed is simply not quite on the fast track as Tucker may be but I feel he'll work out and is a LHB.. Tucker + Fisher + Whitley + or (Stubbs/Reed).. I agree the Astros could make it happen with several different pieces. It seems to me that the Dodgers want to compete every year and have so much money and talent that they would be more apt to go for it if they think Q might push them over the top.
-
The Dodgers seem to have the right pieces to trade for Q. He would make their rotation as tough as anyone in baseball. They also have several position prospects and that is where the Sox are thinnest.

Sign weiters and adam lind.bring up moncada on may 17th{carlos mays birthday}.Then you send saladino to right field and release avi. Rodon moncada tilson Quintana melky abeu Giolito frazier lind Lopez Anderson weiters Migo saladino

Life long SOX fan. IMHO Santo was a hall of famer barely. Tons of walks, good power, great defense. Konerko isn't as good. I do agree that the Cubs really pushed him over the top with a media campaign. If there is a White Sox equal to Santo who isn't in the hall, it's Minoso. Outstanding multi-talented player who missed at least 5-6 years Of his prime because of racial quotas used In the 40's and early 50's.
-
QUOTE (WBWSF @ Jan 19, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) Konerko had a much better career than Ron Santo. The problem is that Konerko will not have the PR that Santo did. The Cubs organization and Cubs tv+radio stations promoted Santo for the HOF for years. Konerko will never have that same type of thing going for him. The only thing that made me happy about Santo getting into the HOF is that he didn't live to see it.

Where is Pablo Ozuna ? Where is Jerry Hairston ? Where is Shingo ? Where is Pablo Torrealba ?
-
IF we get pomerantz in the deal ,he will be a 2 year stop gap starter. You may not like him but he is at least a league average starter. He will allow us not to rush eric Hansen and spencer adams while still giving the team a chance to compete. Zisk
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 9, 2016 -> 08:37 AM) Why in hell would you want Pomeranz? He's only under control for two more seasons and has been a dissapointment in the AL. Give me Rodriguez all day and his five years of control.
-
sonny gray is good, sale is an ace. benitendi, pomerantz, kopec and either devers or moncada for sale.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Oct 9, 2016 -> 08:23 AM) I don't think you will see panic in Boston. They are coming off 2 terrible seasons where they finished last in AL East. Down the stretch they owned their main rivals in O's and Jays. They made a boatload of money this year in both attendance and merchandise sale. They have 4 young players in starting lineup and more talent on the way. But making the playoffs for them is not a goal but more an expectation. So I think Dombowski will be busy. Many forget they lost their #3 starter and All-Star mid-year this year in Wright. Benintendi made a splash down the stretch. Moncada, however. was a flop. Both were rushed to the majors skipping AAA. Living in Red Sox country, my take. I hope to hell Sale does not end up in Boston. I think Dombrowski will make moves and trade one of Moncada or Benintendi. My guess, he will package the one w another prospect( Devers or Kopech), a SP ( Buchholtz or Pomerantz) and Shaw or Holt and add a 2-3 starter and a lefty reliever. keep an eye on Sonny Gray. He will not trade Betts or Bradley. Benintendi and Betts are a step down from Bradley defensively, the reason why both had to learn new positions. Hopefully they get swept tonight although the game may get rained out.

moncada,benni,kopec,pomerantz for sale
-
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 8, 2016 -> 11:03 AM) Agreed. You cannot fail this trade. Boston, in my opinion, is still the best match. I'd be perfectly fine with JBJ starting the deal. JBJ, Moncada, Kopech, Devers and Vazquez would work for me. In this type of deal, you need to get one MLB ready player to start the package. I'd love Betts back in the deal but I don't see them doing that but they may get desperate and feel they can plug in someone else. If they did include Betts, how many players would you get back? 3-4 as opposed to 4-5 if he's not in it? Betts, Moncada, Devers and Kopech would be a dream. Maybe I'm way off on the package I'm just throwing s*** out there so to speak. Question is if Sale got dealt and ya got back a combination of Betts or JBJ, and 3-5 of Moncada, Benintendi, Devers, Kopech, etc., would that be enough to keep Quintana?
-
Hostetler-my bad. he is now director of scouting and ran this years draft. I think we should all look back 3-4 years ago when Courtney Hawkins, carlos sanchez and tyler saladino were our top minor leaguers. the system now has some depth and another good draft could really go a long ways s toward sustained success without having to endure 2-4 more bad seasons.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) Nick Castellanos? He's on the Tigers. Do you mean Nick Hostelter or however it's spelled who's one of the minor league scouts?
-
reason to wait until june for overhaul. NICK CASTELLANO I think most agree that 2016 draft was best SOX draft in forever. if N.C. has a 2017 draft nearly as strong , the farm system may not need a major influent in talent . with spencer adams and erik hanson along with fulmer and burdi the sox could trade Q or Sale for hitting and contend very quickly.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 11:29 AM) I love the effort. I don't think they'd give up the 12th pick in the draft to sign Encarnacion though. I just don't see them giving up a pick and I hope they don't.
