Don't watch often. But it is the worst managed game I've seen this year.
-
Good to here. Ramos and Sean Burke should follow after the All star break if they keep playing well.
-
I think that is his floor. His ceiling is Robin Ventura with a few less bombs.
-
Almost shocking not to see Drew Thorpe on the list. It must be a tools driven list, rather than performance.
-
If his thumb were sprained, we'd all know how he did it.

June 2nd Chicago White Sox @ Milwaukee Brewers GDT

Time to bring up Mason Adams and Hoopii, "the throwin' samoan". Please don't start. I know he's from Hawaii. -
Why not just make 10 louder? Maybe the funniest thing Rob Reiner ever said.

Schriffen says he was aiming at “Sportscasters”
zisk replied to Chick Mercedes's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Schriffen is young and in over his head a bit. But his 1st big job is for the worst team in baseball having an historically bad season. I'll give him a pass. Would have loved to seen Harry and Jimmy Piersall call this season. Some legendary s@#t could have come out of that. -
6th round pick. Thats high enough where he might surprise. Keep a good thought.
-
The way he plays makes me wish he was.

I understand your doubts about the next few seasons. I honestly think you are mistaken. No player can change a teams fortunes like a great starting pitcher. The Sox actually have 3-4 guys who could end up being the best pitcher on almost any team. Crochet, Schultz, Grant Taylor and maybe Drew Thorpe. Every one of these guys is either MLB ready or could be in one year or less. Watch Grant Taylor closely the rest of this season. He would have been a top 3 pick in the draft except for TJS. It appears he is now healthy and didn't lose a thing due to the surgery. I know we are the worst organization in baseball, but I am cautiously optimistic about about the second half of 2025 and beyond. Keep in mind we have another 5-6 very good starting pitcher prospects behind these other 4.

June 1 game thread Sox @Milwaukee 3:10 first pitch
zisk replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2024 Season in Review
I know if Earl Weaver was the manager of this team we would have maybe 20 wins. We truly are this bad. But doesn't someone have to pay for this hell hole? I suppose it's too early to fire Getz even though they should. That leaves Pedro right in the crosshairs. It won't change a damn thing, but it's time. -

Hate is a strong word.......totally appropiate, but strong. -
I'm gonna play the contrarian today. The Sox will start playing competitive baseball sometime next season. I know it sounds like i've been day drinking again, but I haven't. My enthusiasm is based on our starting pitching prospects. Schultz, Thorpe, Eder, Grant Taylor, Iriarte and a few others added to Garrett Crochet. The Sox have at least 3-4 guys who could end up being a true #1 starter very soon. Maybe no other organization can say this. With Korey Lee catching the bulk of games, Robert in CF(fingers crossed) and Montgomery, Ramos and Gonzalez added to the infield it could happen by All star break 2025. 2026 could be a special year.
-
What I'd like to see is Crochet, then Thorpe followed by Noah Schultz in our rotation. I'd like to see it next year. Sure, we're not gonna score too much. The other teams won't either.
-
No it's not. Nick uses his glove to help.

Andrew's liner is a metaphor for his career.

He's on life support. A minor injury or 3 bad starts away from release. He's a big strong guy with bad ligaments. I'm usually not harsh about these things, but he's never done anything worth mentioning. I hope it works out for him.

Clevinger to IL, Woodford coming up, Peralta DFA Part II
zisk replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Seriously, maybe Drew Thorpe will be called up for Clevengers spot the next time thru the rotation. He might not have had enough rest time to go to night. It won't change a thing in this lost season. I might be more inclined to watch his starts though. Between Crochet, Fedde and Thorp, I might tune in 60% of the time. -
Clevinger to IL, Woodford coming up, Peralta DFA Part II

I believe Chris Flexen is worth what he is being paid. That means we've only wasted 21.8 million. In your face!! -
Colson is really struggling in a great hitters park. The defensive numbers look fairly pedestrian. If he doesn't flip the switch soon, he might not be up to the task. Sure his plate discipline hasn't abandoned him. It will take more than that to be a good major leaguer. What a damn mess. Quero is down to .211 as well. At least he's young for AA. The tough part for me is that i'm stuck with these clucks. The only thing worse to me is being a frontrunner.

ILoy will not be missed. This stint will take us to the all star break. Over halfway done with this bums last season.
