QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 07:48 PM) I remember watching when Sable first came around and thought she was so sexy and now I look back and she isn't all that. Well, realizing that she boned Brock Lesnar and: Then I'd figure that she wasn't all that either . And Marella can't really work that well in the ring but goddamn, he rivals Heenan with the mic skills -

QUOTE(The Critic @ Dec 10, 2007 -> 07:26 PM) Yep, that and HHH saying "no surprise there" when he introduced Patterson as one of the guys Vince tried to "slip the sheleighlie to". This show's off to a decent start - I can't see Carlito winning a ladder match against a Hardy, though. They're really making Carlito look a lot stronger though despite the loss. Perhaps Hardy should just paint a door onto the wall and have Carlito run into it. -

This 3 hr. Raw has the potential to be damn good. But then again, this is Raw so I'm waiting for the Cena/Batista marks to watch as every heel is pinned by Batista Bombs in 4.7 seconds. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Dec 8, 2007 -> 11:30 AM) Can 2 Cold Scorpio still wrestle? Back in the day, he was awesome! I've heard that he still puts on solid shows. A friend of mine has seen him at IWA shows and said he can still go. It's just in Joliet and worth the few hour trip I think...if anything else, its to see some hardcore wrestling in person (I don't count the random hardcore matches at ROH that I've seen live though). Plus, I'm a big Kingston mark. Here's hoping they get Chuckie T booked as well. -

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 8, 2007 -> 10:06 AM) Why is the WWE waiting so long to invite people to their big show? I read Paul Bearer said he can't make it because he already has prior committments. Didn't they "kill off" Paul Bearer at a show a long time ago? I seem to remember him being part of a Buried Alive match and he got covered in concrete in the grave. /kayfabe And time for some cheap wrestling news roundup. 1) It is being reported that Carlito and WWE have come to terms to keep Carlito on the roster. 2) WWE just taped their Tribute to the Troops episode. I wonder if all the anti-wrestling people will avoid discussing this positive press for the E. 3) IWA:MS is going to run a show Mar. 1 in Joliet, IL. Already announced is: IWA:MS Heavyweight Title - Eddie Kingston © vs Too Cold Scorpio Brain Damage and Deranged vs Mickie Knuckles and LuFisto I may end up taking the trip home to see this show if the card keeps going well. I was going to go to the TPI but couldn't make the three nights. 4) Did anybody else like the PS Hayes/MVP promo from SD last night? I thought it was pretty good -- promoting the World Class Wrestling DVD, getting MVP some heel heat and really played off the old school/new school mentality to get MVP over without damaging PS Hayes as a legend. Plus, it got the Hardy feud over too so Matt isn't entirely forgotten about while off TV. -

QUOTE(longshot7 @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 11:43 AM) what about Samoa Joe's promo at the TNA PPV (didnt see it) - ripping on old guys, TNA management, etc and then following it up by bringing out ERIC YOUNG????? TNA, what is your problem? Why do you suck do much? http://www.dailymotion.com/search/turning+...oe-shoots_sport Samoa Joe's PPV promo. His promo was a total shoot and wasn't expected. -
http://stripes.com/article.asp?section=104&article=50649 “We respectfully urge Congress to repeal the ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy,” says the letter, a copy of which Stars and Stripes also received. The officers said in the letter that “scholarly data show” that 65,000 gay men and lesbians now serve in the American armed forces and that there are more than 1 million gay veterans. “They have served our nation honorably,” the letter states.

Fire Pro Wrestling Returns is officially awesome and definitely worth the $15 price tag. It rivals SDvR 2k8 in replay value, playability etc. SDvR just has better graphics and better weapons. And for anybody that follows puro, Kobashi Kenta is making his comeback after kicking cancer's ass tomorrow night at the Budokon. For anybody in the PA area, Chikara is running a free show at Penn State called "Stephen Colbert>Bill O'Reilly" with the following card: That looks awesome. I can't wait to see if they let Soldier Ant be Soulja Ant again, haha. As for ROH -- Trios Tournament 2007 is tonight. My friend is there txt'ing me results as it happens because there was no way I could make it up in this ice crap. I only did that the last time it was this bad to see Samoa Joe's last ROH show in the states. -

QUOTE(mr_genius @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 05:09 PM) of course, instead of commenting on the actual situation, you change the subject and give a Rosie O'donnell like rant. i don't like religious crazies of any religion either, but i also don't like authoritarian socialists. so should we start comparing these psychos to the far lefties in this country? because there sure are similarities. Pardon me for not (and no pun intended) preaching to the choir here about "OMG! THE MOOZLIMS ARE BACKWARDS!!111!! ELEVENTY!" I was making a much more valuable and cogent point about the dangers of fundamentalism. And as for your comment re: authoritarian socialists, yeah -- it is okay to be worried about them. However, the Christian "fascists" (as Chris Hedges succinctly put it) are much more dangerous and have much great access and use of power inside the United States. By that fact, they should deserve more of your fear than the "socialists". -

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 11:47 AM) because that was 1 group of 10 people? not hundreds of groups of thousands of people? The Army of God, the Christian Identity movement, the Aryans, the American Nazi Party, the KKK, the National Alliance and other racist organizations that attempt to attach their bulls*** racist ideologies to a "Christian" veneer. There's fundies who use religion as a means of gaining political power solely for the use of political power. Chris Hedges, a Christian war correspondent, recently wrote a fantastic book on the subject of American dominionists using religion as a means to gain political power using the Christian religion as its focal point inside America -- rather than the Muslim handwringing that gets so much political/news play. (I am not trying to tone down or dismiss the fact there are Muslim fundies -- their treatment of women with forced circumcisions, the morality police in countries that enforce sharia (i.e. the execution of an underage girl in Iran which was turned into a really interesting documentary that has aired repeatedly in American TV), et al.) I am however, trying to say that the greatest minds of the 14th Century in all religions do us no favors to promote our reason based society that we have because their position is not based on reason. -

Ah fundamentalism -- the crazies that will be willing to do just about anything to justify their crazy politcal/religious code that they would like to have in the states. From these crazy fundie Muslims to the fundie Christians who accessorize with dynamite at abortion clinics (and let's not forget the Christian Identity racists who kill people also some stuff like this -- On July 26, 2007, 17 Christians were convicted of religion-inspired terrorism under Indonesian law. A Christian mob attacked, murdered, and beheaded two Muslim fishermen in September 2006, reportedly as retaliation for a previous court ordered and legally sanctioned execution in 2006 of three Christians convicted of leading a militant group which killed hundreds of Muslims in Poso in 2000.[14] In addition to the seventeen Christian defendants found guilty of "acts of terrorism by the use of violence", two defendants received fourteen year sentences for their main roles in the killings, while ten were sentenced to twelve year terms. Five other defendants in separate hearings received eight year sentences for their part in the disposal of the bodies.) There was a time that three of the FBI's top ten most wanted criminals were antiabortion terrorists - Christians, one and all, committing acts of terrorism in an effort to promote their religious beliefs. Why have they dropped off the radar? Fundamentalists of all religious stripes will utilize their religion to justify violent acts that they want to perpetrate. It does us no favors to pick out only one sect's fundamentalists but rather to look at them as an entire whole -- that all fundamentalism with a perverted thirst for political power to institute their moral code is a danger to a free, open, rational, reason-based pluralistic society that we have in the United States. -
QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Nov 28, 2007 -> 06:07 PM) OK, here it is. Writers are striking! Picketing, making lame protest signs, etc. Fine. Why are talk show hosts refusing to go on because of their strike? Leno, Letterman, etc all have contracts to host their shows. How can they not work ('honoring the strike'), and still have a job? Or at least not be docked pay for non-performance? Is there some arcane law regarding unions that most people don't know about? I remember when the one hotel in Chicago that was being striked against for a loooong time, and some teamsters decided that they weren't going to deliver to the hotel to honor the strik. How can they do that and not get in trouble? Technically the "honoring the strike" is illegal but, in the opinion of the unionists (including myself), it is a moral one to be made. The biggies like Leno and Letterman can pull this because they have enough pull within their respective companies that forcing the issue and possibly losing those ratings is a lot worse idea for them rather than just running reruns until the strike is over. The victims are going to be the non-writers on the show (see the link @ the bottom) Also: ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live continues to run in repeats, as its host has backed the writers not only by stepping aside, but even driving a taco truck around to picket sites in Los Angeles. Leno has also been a constant presence at picketing around town. The idea of Jimmy Kimmel driving a taco truck is quite funny to me for some reason. http://www.broadcastingcable.com/CA6499587.html Update that the nonwriting staffs of the late night shows are going to be axed unless Leno etc. come back to work.

Hacksaw and Crazy as a tag team = GOLD. Plus the Rhodes/Holly/Hacksaw/Crazy team with the crowd's USA chant = ironic gold. Man, nobody is wondering where Hacksaw's been when he's off Raw...even when Raw's been in his hometown. And if Cade and Murdoch ever went to Japan, they'd be so over. -

QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Nov 25, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) For the ROH fans here, or people interested in picking up a DVD for a good price. ROH has extended their Black Friday sale until tomorrow at 8am, it's 35% off your entire order. I'm still deciding if theres something that I want....would anyone suggest any shows from this year? I've seen every show up until the shows in Japan. I'd suggest: The Best of Chikara -- It's $10.00 Get it and enjoy it. It is awesome. As for ROH: Supercard of Honor II (if nothing else for that cage match) Good Times, Great Memories FYF: Chicago Both ROH in Japan shows The Battle of St. Paul (which I've heard is an underrated show) Driven Race to the Top Night 1 and Night 2 Manhattan Mayhem II I recently picked up Supercard of Honor, Joe vs Kobashi and a few other shows (Driven). And oh yeah, I was watching the Mario and Sonic @ the Olympic Games commercial -- is it bad that I was like "Go Danielson!" when the Final Countdown was playing? -
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 23, 2007 -> 11:15 AM) Maybe the other is the Richard Belzer show? I forget which one of the crime shows he is on. CSI: ZIMBABWAE maybe? Perhaps they can just leave Caruso in Zimbabwe? /wishin'.hopin'.prayin'. And as for MASH, it was definitely a commentary about war in general -- one which the public was more open to and willing to listen to after the Vietnam war had begun. It was a fun show to watch re-runs of but at times it gets a bit too preachy. (After Hawkeye treated a wounded North Korean soldier prior to operating on an American one) "You took a yellow Red before a White American, and that's pretty pinko!"

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 23, 2007 -> 09:03 PM) I, uhh, kinda sat around all day. I pretty much pledged that I would not shop on this god forsaken day. I wouldn't have shopped either but today was the only day that I'd be in the area where I could upgrade the cell phone. So, that ended up being my only purchase -- and my parents took me out for dinner. I wanted, as best I could, to be part of BND to be more mindful of my consumption. That said, I am totally spending tomorrow cleaning out my closet of old clothes and unwanted clothes that no longer fit in order to get a few new professional sets of clothes for work.
