  1. These two trades including Brinson were just incredible for the Brewers. Lucroy forgot how to hit one year later and they used him to get Yelich, who is playing like Barry Bonds since putting on a Brewers uniform.
  2. Good call, especially Votto. I'd even argue he should becloser to a lock. A career .423 OBP is just incredible and his 151+ OPS is better than Cabreras.
  3. Yeah, I cant see how anyone can see this season as anything other than a resounding success for the rebuild. I don't know how people get hung up on the performance of guys who will be gone in a few months like Ivan Nova
  4. I am bored and was thinking about which players, who are playing today are headed to Cooperstown. To make this a bit less speculative I only counted players with at least 5 years of major league service time and came up with this list. Pujols Sabathia Trout Verlander Sale Cabrera Posey Kershaw are pretty much locks IMO Fringe cases include: Bumgarner Cano Lester Altuve Machado Arenado Can you come up with any more names?
  5. Or Marlins fans. They arguably had equally valuable or even more valuable trade chips in Ozuna, Stanton, Yelich and Realmuto (Gordon to a lesser extent) and the returns for these players look absolutely awful. Not to mention that their last draft picks don't look too hot either.
  6. He should be in WS soon, right?
  7. I think if he were called up today, Madrigal would easily be a 3 WAR player.
  8. Alonso is also 3 years older than Robert, and 5 years older than Tatis.
  9. It‘s not like Madrigal is putting up videogame numbers in Birmingham, right? Jack being down on him reminds me of that crusade trying to convince everyone that Kyle Hendricks actually sucks and has been getting lucky for years. Some players just don‘t fit the mold and Madrigal has done everything so far to prove the doubters wrong.
  10. Mark Kotsay is probably my least favorite Sox player in recent memory. Didn't help that Jim Thome continued being a great hitter and some people tried to handwave his contributions by saying that he was a 'baseclogger' and we were better off without him. ?
  11. True, over the last 3 years he has averaged around a .950 OPS. But still, signing him to be the primary DH would cost a premium that shoudl be invested elsewhere.
  12. It's pretty clear to me that Madrigal is the 2B come next May. If you sign Rendon to be the DH you zap him of most of his value. Signing someone like Edwin Encarnacion for a fraction of the price would net you the same results.
  13. Signing Puig or Dickerson to play RF and Castellanos to be the primary DH, the Sox would add 5 wins without having to break the bank.
  14. If you are incredibly optimistic and say that Robert is a 6 WAR player the moment he gets to Chicago and with Adam Engel being the embodiment of a replacement level player: We are talking about less than one win.
  15. While Adell has the more advanced approach, he doesn't come close to Robert's power. I wouldn't trade Robert for Adell.
  16. The Mariners also sent over a huge chunk of the money owed to him, only to get a lottery ticket type arm.
  17. What is the value of a slightly above league average bat who is a liability at 1B and makes a ton of money anyway? I doubt he would get more than a incentive based 1yr deal on the open market.
  18. Yeah, silver lining though: He will be non tendered this off season. No way the Sox pay him arbitration money.
  19. ??? If anything this season has been a pleasant surprise. Key pieces are having breakout years.
  20. I still prefer Covey, who looks like a major leauge pitcher sometimes if you squint hard enough, to straight up trash like Detwiler.
  21. Jay misplayed the first hit into a double. Cooper should have hit into a double play. Which led to Walker hitting a line drive that would have been caught. And Walker shouldn't have been able to score on that double.
  22. Covey getting hurt by some bad defense this inning.
  23. Oh my god, Jon Jay is so slow. Carlos Lee wouldn't have played that ball into a double.
  24. The fact that Starlin Castro is only 29 years old is still hard to grasp for me,
  25. I hate how Castillo catches the ball. He is terrible.
