Postitional value is overrated. Would it be nice if he could play SS? Sure. But a SS with an below average bat doesn't excite anyone either.

The bat does have to play regardless. If Abrams makes it to the show (and that's a big if) and doesn't hit, his defense gives you a Yolmer caliber player which is the definiton of meh.
