  1. “I believe we got in the room with Manny Machado and Bryce Harper and if we were able to afford, they absolutely wanted to come here,’’ he said. “That was expressed to us. That’s all I can go by.’’ From the same front office that hyped up their fanbase by saying stuff like "money won't be an issue" and "we won't be outbid" Everything was done in bad faith. Essentially it was a sham, a charade. I am disgusted with them.
  2. “Our fans would have been much more disappointed in our inability to keep this next core together,’’ he said. “We would have overextended ourselves had we gone to an uncomfortable level.’’ 9 years from now, Eloy will be in his thirties. And which is it KW? Manny just had to stay healthy, oúr offer was worth more money or We want the financial flexibility for our core
  3. “People are lost on the fact that on a yearly basis our offer was more than San Diego’s. The average annual value was 31 [million] and change. So it was about years guaranteed. So there is an argument that could be made that our offer was the better of the two. It certainly had more upside for him. All he had to do was basically stay healthy.’’ " They are fucking delusional. They are not only incompetent, they have fucking delusions of grandeur. Cleveland Browns fans have the right to laugh at the Sox.
  4. “He and I clicked in the meeting " ? “Rest assured that no one is feeling what Rick and I are feeling because every single day since June of last year, this is what we had planned for, the pursuit of both Harper and Machado. Harper [was] well out of our range. With Machado we extended ourselves as far as we could without jeopardizing what we’re going to need to do in the future. " I also love the fact that JR wasnt willing to pay players 10 years from now when it is very likely that he won't be around anymore.
  5. It was always Brye Harper's lifelong dream to play for the Phillies? Not buying that for one second.
  6. Rick Hahn went whale hunting and all we got are Jon Jay and Yonder Alonso. ?
  7. I refuse to believe that 10/330 or even 11/330would not have gotten the job done, It's not like playing for the Phillies is something most players dream about either.
  8. That's what hurts the most. I don't necessarily think Harper would have been an amazin fit, but you obviously make room for a generational talent like him. They have talked up this offseason for months if not years, they let their mouthpieces spread BS like "we will not be outbid". They wanted it to be known as a new era of White Sox baseball. Sox fans have bought in into the teardown rebuild. And they trusted the front office and ownership to steer this rebuild and for the first time ever be a player for premium free agents. Now I can't help but think that all of this was done in bad faith just to string the fans along and get them to buy some season tickets.
  9. What makes this even worse is that 2013, 2015 and 2016 were years in which they were going for it.
  10. Just taking a hiatus from White Sox baseball, not changing teams, that is crazy talk.
  11. Herrera,Alonso and Colome make more money than Bryce Harper makes annually. Add Nova,Jay,McCann and you are halfway there to having both Harper and Machado on your payroll.
  12. Yeah I think I need a break from baseball for a while. This offseason kinda broke me.
  13. Nobody will see it coming when they sign Adam Jones.
  14. Finally, now we have the money to extend Jose Abreu for 4 years. ?
  15. There were two premium free agents with three teams who had serious interest. Sox walk away empty handed. There are traditions and there are White Sox traditions.
  16. No opt outs, 25M AAV Can‘t wait for the Sox to sign two bums for the same AAV.
  17. The same Jim Duquette that said Harper to Phillies is basically a done deal ? It is uncanny how similar this whole ordeal is to the Machado signing. Let’s hope the sox can swoop in this time.
  18. The only thing that gives me pause is: If the Dodgers offered 10 years yesterday, I think it would have been a done deal. Either that report is just BS or it’s a lowball offer in terms of AAV.
  19. Bucket also said that the Sox liked where they were with Harper. I trust bucket over Kaplan every day of the week. edit: that info is like 8 weeks old before anyone asks
  20. If Harper does indeed choose the Dodgers, I won’t even be mad. Players choosing them over the Sox is to be expected. That makes getting outbid by the fucking Padres even worse though.
  21. David Robertson was not a B tier signing. He was arguably the best reliever on the market. And he did a good job for the Sox.
  22. I still think the Sox chances are at best at 10% though.
