I don't buy the Padres as the "mystery team. They have Myers, Hosmer and Machado already on the books for $70M/year. Signing Harper would mean they would have to run payrolls close to $200M/year to field a competitive team. I don't see that happening.

Eloy extension would be the only positive thing I can think of.

Trying to save money which prevented us from signing Machado and then to extend Abreu is the most White Sox thing ever.

I just read about the stuff being said at the Padres press conference. If that doesn't motivate JR to go after Bryce, nothing will.

Let's be honest here, I don't think Abreu has a lot of value. CJ Cron, who was more productive last year, was non tendered. Abreu has a better track record than Cron, but he is also bein paid 16M.

Can't wait for Rick Hahn's #soxmath when he demonstrates that the Sox have spent the money they promised to spend. Maybe Denard Span will be part of that equation. White Sox are the team that goes broke in a dollar store.

This whole fiasco is worse than Lebron 2010. They offered him the max deal and he didn't want to sign with the Bulls. This whole situation is like if the Bulls didn't think it was necessary to offer the max because they signed two of Lebrons friends.
