  1. Hopefully this game gets called after 5. Being in the stands must be miserable and the level of play is impacted by the weather.
  2. I love the energy Anderson has this year. A completely different guy from last season.
  3. Not gonna lie, hearing the Hawk makes me feel happy even though he became a caricature of himself the last few years.
  4. Nice win. Lopez was electric early and then his stuff flattened out. Nevertheless he should be a lockdown reliever at least. I love how hard our fringy prospects are playing. Engel looks like a cromulent 4th OF. One of Smith/Omar would be a good backup C. Delmonico has impressed me and should be at least a bench bat. I still think that Leury will be a regular or super utility guy for years to come. He can play and got a bad rap for his awful first stint with the Sox,but has produced in the minors and now in the big leagues. That Alex Rios trade is looking pretty good
  5. This may sound like a meathed hot take: But I've watched a decent amount of Astros gamws thanks to MLB.Tv and that team reminds me so much of the Twins from 2009 to 2011. They are build to win in the regular season, but will struggle come October. Their pifching is just not good enough.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 05:12 AM) Minus the suddenly sloppy D...but yeah. He went for a barehand play when he shouldn't have. Yesterday's error was a bad hop on the grass. how is that sloppy? Who questioned his bat speed btw? That's ludicrous. Nice play by Anderson. That wasn't easy at all.
  7. Great outing by MiGo. Hopefully the Sox bring him back ndxt year. Need that reliable veteran even on a rebuilding team.
  8. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 11:53 PM) The Tigers seem to have gotten three fringe prospects back for JD, they couldn't do any better than that? Really weird to trade him two weeks before the deadline if that was the best offer they had on the table. There is always a chance someone gets injured on a contender. Would rather have the comp pick if I were the Tigers.
  9. The Rangers had no qualms about trading Demeritte for Lucas freaking Harrell. He isn't good enough to be a substantial piece for Q. Maybe in as a throw in like Diaz in the Sale trade.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 05:50 PM) He definitely has a point. Offense has been the problem. If it is going to be so easy to acquire, why wasn't it acquired? I understand you need some pitchers, but the game is getting away from starting pitching, except for a #1 or #2 guy being important. It's about the bullpen, and pitching prospects bust at a higher rate than hitters. Moncada was a great start, but there needs to be a lot more. Unless they plan on trading Rodon, Q is pretty much their last asset to get top of the line offensive prospects. You can only trade pitching for hitting if you have a surplus of pitching. The Sox didn't have that, that's why we trotted Shields Danks and Ranaudo out there. I would prefer some high level position players but stockpiling arms isn't so bad either.
  11. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 07:09 PM) Idk if they really need Melky. If they moved Schwarber, I think Zobrist would just go to left with Baez in at second. Yeah, I forgot about Baez. But Melky would give them some insurance if Heyward still hasn't remembered how to hit. You're right though.
  12. If we're just throwing trade ideas at the wall: Quintana and Melky with Sox picking up half of Melky's contract for Schwarber, Jimenez and Candelario. But I don't think that's realistic at all. Let's see where the Pirates rumors go and hopefully some names get leaked by either FO.
  13. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 06:41 PM) I require Schwarber & Happ for Q. I'd prefer Schwarber. Jimenez and Candelario. Schwarber's value is limited in the NL. And they can't even move him to first either. He would be a logical trade piece.
  14. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 17, 2016 -> 12:04 AM) His upside (best case) would be that of an above average fielding SS or 2B leadoff type hitter that hits .300 and steals bases That is a valuable player, and he was young for the AAA level by two years, but his struggles in AAA would concern me a little bit He was awesome in AA, but a .650 ops in AAA is reason to think Would I love him in the Sox organization? Absolutely. But, he needs to prove he can handle AAA pitching this season I'm totally iwth you. I mean Alcides Escobar had some good years. Or I'll throw out Elvis Andrus as another ceiling comp. A very valuable player, but not what you're looking for in a Quintana trade.
  15. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 16, 2016 -> 11:53 PM) Seriously that's your ceiling for Albies? He has no power. Without power his now decent walk rate will go down a lot in the majors. Pretty good fielder and good runner. I just don't see much upside there.
  16. Albies as the headliner for Q would make me livid. IMO his absolute ceiling is Alcides Escobar.. There is not much upside in his bat and we all know the Sox need those kind of bats badly.
  17. Would be very Rockies-like to give Trumbo the 80M he was looking for. As a GM I would want to stay away as far as possible from that guy. I'd sign Edwin over him 10 times out of 10. age difference be damned.
  18. Can't see any downside to this. If he pitches well, the Sox might be able to trade him and if not, eh. We need some warm bodies to pitch.
  19. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 02:53 PM) Problem with that is, as DA pointed out yesterday, that there won't be many save opportunities in '17. I'd like to add that Robertson has struggled in non-save situations so running him out there to get his innings may not necessarily work. Not sure I want to rely on Robertson staying motivated long enough to trade him. He signed with the Sox to win, now they are selling and that has to be disheartening. I say take the best reasonable offer and move on. Addison Reed saved 40 games fo the 2013 Sox who lost 99 games. There will be enough save opportunities as bad teams tend to not win in blow outs when they win their 60ish games.
  20. QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 04:58 PM) You've lost your mind. Trout!? For Quintana?! That was just a hyperbolic statement to emphasize how ill advised if would be to trade for a single player in a rebuilding situation no matter how good you perceive him to be.
  21. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 04:40 PM) I know Houston wouldn't but I'd do a straight up Q for Bregman If the Astros wouldn't do this trade, they would be insane. But if I were Rick Hahn, I wouldn't trade Q for Trout(if you weren't allowed to turn around and trade him again for some reason) straight up in the situation the Sox are in. You need quantity in a rebuild. Look at the recent trades the Indians made for CC and Lee. The headliners did nothing (Laporta and Marson) and those trades were saved by secondary pieces performing better than expected.
  22. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 01:53 PM) Saw on mlbtraderumors that the Mariners are looking for pitching. Didn't really mention any thing specific and not sure if they are willing to give up what it takes to get Q though. They do have some very interesting OF prospects tho...Kyle Lewis who went #11 overall in this past draft and Tyler O'neill who hit a coll .293/.374/.508 with 24 HR's as a 20/21 year old in AA. Like I said, no idea if a deal is even possible/realistic but this thread could use some new hope of a deal lol. Seattle doesn't have the farm system to pull off a Q trade. Lewis had a major knee injury as well. I like a couple of their players, but they don't have the elite prospects it would take. Robertson or Miguel Gonzalez would be the guys that they can afford prospect wise.
  23. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 01:33 AM) Hypothetically, what would the Cubs deal look like? Happ, Jimenez ++? If the Cubs weren't so attached to Schwarber, he would be the logical headliner as his peak value due to his defensive shortcomings is limited. I don't see him topping a 3 win season as an outfielder.. And they obviously won't deal Contreras. Happ and Jimenez would have to be included along with Candelario. Candelario is obviously blocked but has shown a tremendous eye at the plate and is solid all around.
  24. As a new member of this site, I just wanted to say that I really appreciate what you guys at FutureSox are doing. Thanks for this interview!
  25. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 01:07 AM) Why is Minor League OPS the only way a lot of posters judge 18-20 year old MiLB talent around here? And I'm not trying to come at you, Chisoxfn, but I've been seeing a lot of this. We have to look at the scouting reports from guys who see this guy play all the time. We have to look at the swing (no, Ryan Sweeney 10+ years ago doesn't count IMO when MiLB talent back then couldn't hold the jock strap of young baseball talent these days). We have to look at the elite and almost unmatched in the Minors hit tool by this 19 year old. We have to dream on how the power could develop in the next year or two when this young kid fills out his 6'4"/190 lb. body. We have to look at the minimal K rate and very solid BB rate. How many 19 year olds explode on the baseball scene putting up a .900 OPS? Very, very few. The development of extremely young prospects isn't a linear thing. Sure, Kyle Tucker could bust, but as another poster said, I'd be willing to bet he's a top 15-25 prospect going into 2018. It makes you wonder why Luhnow has said this 19 year old prospect is "untouchable"... That's true, but as a centerpiece for one of the best pitchers in the game with 4 years of team control, I'd be more intrested in a guy who has shown that he can handle AA and is more projectable. That's why I'm not all that excited about a trade with Houston. IMO the perfect trade partner would be the Cubs. But I doubt that'll happen.
