  1. When the Giants acquired Tauchman, Robert was still healthy and Engel hadn‘t suffered yet another setback. I wouldn’t have minded him over Hamilton, but the assumption always was that Billy was a goner anyway when Engel comes back
  2. Charlotte needs players too. All this rage-posting must take a toll on your mental health.
  3. How many quality major leaguers are waiting for a call in May? At least he can hit a little
  4. I don’t recall saying Gallo is a Robert/Engel caliber CF. Actually I never said anything about Gallo, but odds are you‘ll survive with him in center for acouple of weeks ?‍♂️
  5. I called this hours ago, I should be a pretend insider with a food related twitter handle.
  6. Defensive metrics are borderline useless for a single season worth of data, let alone 20odd,games.
  7. "Why isn’t Leury playing more, at least he puts the ball in play. Ugh, another failed Rick Hahn trade.“
  8. If we’re a.lowed to dream here: Give me Jesse Winker, probably the most underrated player in all of baseball.
  9. He shouldn’t, but I would take Engel as an every day CF over Heyward at this point of his career. My 2022 OF would be Eloy/Vaughn-Robert-A better RF than Eaton or Heyward(acquiring Heyward would just mean he is the starting RF) with Engel being the 4th OF
  10. So what do you do with Heyward for 2+ years once Eloy, Engel and Robert are back? You‘re then stuck with him as your starting RF. Just like Eaton, the Sox can and should aim higher than a 2nd division starter
  11. Not really comparable. The plan for both of these guys was to be in the lineup every day, just not with a set position. None of them were signed as backups.
  12. I can’t think of any MLB team acquiring and paying a guy over $13M to be a 4th OF, it just doesn’t happen even for teams that operate with a mich higher budget.
  13. This resultis in the Sox being stuck with sub-par RF for two more years.
  14. Which realistic depth pieces did you have in my mind? The bench was pretty set in stone with Collins, Leury and Engel with Mendick being a candidate as well. Not a fan of the Eaton signing, but which depth pieces woukd have helped alleviate losing Luis and Eloy for a good chunk of the season? Probably none because I am pretty sure people would have gotten tired of flawed players like Kike Hernandez or Marwin Gonzalez as well.
  15. If Engel could put up a .810 OPS he wouldn’t t be just fine. He would get MVP votes lol. The thing with Engel is staying around the .700 OPS line.
  16. Engel is only in the big league because he can play CF with the best of them. Defensively there isn’t much off a dropoff going from Luis to Engel. The only question with Engel is whether he hits enough to not be a liability in the lineup
  17. Brian Goodwin got released by Pittsburgh, wouldn’t be shocked to see him report to Charlotte soon.
  18. I know posting random names gives caulfield a dopamine rush, but none of these guys are much better than Leury. Inciarte would be fine I guess, but we need to acquire either an impact player or just ride it out.
  19. Can’t wait for him to be traded because the Indians don’t want to pay his steroid money or something
  20. Why swing at a borderline pitch after he can’t throw a strike?
  21. Fun fact: Most teams can’t replace a 950 OPS bat and a 5-6 WAR CF
  22. Grandal‘s underlying bumbers are good, Abreu’s not so much
  23. Jack Parkman is so close to drop him from the rotation and you know it
  24. With all the angst in this thread you‘d never guess that a 6-3 homestand is the worst that can happen today
