  1. You could subtract Paulino and Reed from that deal and I'd still like it. That's 4 guys who all are top 100 tier guys, Tucker higher than that. The potential for Perez and Whitley to rise is really strong also, could be looking at two more blue chip arms a year from now.
  2. I think the Sox can match that rate with the arms. Play to your strengths.
  3. It's pretty horrible. Being on WLS is like being in jail.
  4. Giolito's ceiling is almost incomprehensible. Like in terms of raw potential he could replace Sale all by his lonesome. He's got the frame, the velocity and the hook. Kopech I suppose could come close to that ceiling just because he has that peak-Verlander veloxity, but Hansen has a ways to get there.
  5. My worry with Hansen is how well he responds to a taste of adversity. It sounds like he just fell apart mentally when things went wrong at Oklahoma which caused him to lose the zone. It sounds a little paradoxical, but I'll have a hard time believing in him until he has a bad month and bounces back. Guys who can make it are the guys who can put a bad outing, or even series of outings, behind them.
  6. I'm kinda with you in that I think the Sale return in general was light, but the whole panel basically agreed Moncada was the most talented prospect in baseball. That leaves the explanation for Benintendi's ranking as "the guy still on Boston".
  7. Benintendi doesn't bother me as much as Swanson, who is literally just one trot out on the field away from losing eligibility.
  8. Kopech at #16. 80 grade on the fastball.
  9. 81. Collins 71. Fulmer 46. Lopez They are 22 right now. You figure Kopech, Moncada and Giolito are all yet to come.
  10. Its on right now, you can stream it on MLB.com.
  11. I hope the type of reaction they are seeing to the new acquisitions at Soxfest assuages any fears that the fanbase wont tolerate a rebuild.
  12. The Sox won't be able to outbid LA, NY or the Cubs. Probably not Boston either. It's just the way it is, nothing even against the Sox it's just the nature of baseball. The Yankees in particular are going to be on an epic spending spree.
  13. Burdi just confirmed on WLS that he will be a reliever.
  14. Why is Frazier? Guys who follow the team closely seem to indicate Melky is the one most guys turn to in the clubhouse. Obviously the media doesn't talk to him as much, but that ultimately means very little about whether one is a leader or not.
  15. If there is a leader the Sox should consider extending it's Melky Cabrera, who to my knowledge has never had to change lockers because he had problems w a teammate.
  16. Popular theory will be the Yankees backed out but Pittsburgh's FO is extremely gun-shy, almost cowardly. Dealing with them has to be miserable.
  17. If Tilson's hamstring injury has ruined his ability to play CF I suppose Bourjos could be considered an adequate defensive replacement. He's lost all ability to contribute offensively though.
  18. wow everyone at Soxfest must be going totally crazy
  19. Extending 30 year old sluggers who are increasingly becoming one-dimensional is not a thing rebuilding teams do.
  20. STL is kind of like Atlanta or NYY, you're hoping to add five guys 45 FV or higher to the T30. That means no cant-miss guy at the top, but that also means spreading out the risk. This is the kind of deal I would rather have for Q to be honest.
  21. Yea none of that changes my mind about the Lopez snub, or really the idiotic rationale behind the Lopez snub. The Kopech and Moncada rankings are fine, just a little unconventional. Anyone want to keep calling Rafael Dever a "throw-in" to the Sale deal? Sure seems to me like Hahn should've fought harder for him.
  22. Yet another victim of the obession with value. Kept at a position or role not because its the right role for him, but because that's where his value is. Lucky him that he found the right place, many others dont.
