  1. "Hey fans! The shocking DEATH of a 25 year old pitcher has made us rethink our chances for 2017 so we've decided to trade another fan favorite! We know you'll believe in the plan, and dont forget to renew your season ticket plan"
  2. I try not to think of Tatis Jr. because when I do I lose all faith in this org's ability to do anything right Hardly makes sense to be a fan when you feel that way.
  3. Maybe Avisail Garcia or Derek Holland but I'm not expecting anything. Sox are bad.
  4. Fangraphs has a lot of very lazy analysis and aside from their prospect stuff I don't take any of it seriously. A lot of them just coming up w an idea and finding the stats to prove it rather than the other way around.
  5. Rodon was drafted and signed because of an agreement between the Sox and Boras to get Rodon to the majors ASAP.
  6. Yea the Sox would have to take that deal. That's too much talent to pass up and as we just saw with flawed/shoulder concern JDL fetching Forsythe one-for-one the mountain of young arms the Sox will have stockpiled will be able to fetch some decent position players.
  7. It is absolutely obvious at this point. Denying this requires more of a suspension of disbelief than the other way around.
  8. Takes two to tango. Ask any cop or lawyer how often they come upon a disagreement where one side was 100% in the wrong...it's pretty rare. And nearly all pro athletes have egos that would make them almost unemployable in "our" world.
  9. The Dodgers weren't willing to give up more than De Leon for Dozier it was ridiculous
  10. We have a very good idea what offers Hahn has on the table, especially from the Astros.
  11. De Leon has shoulder problems... risky move by Rays. Dodgers clearly don't believe much in JDL
  12. Listening to Collins and the White Sox org speak I really get the feeling his chances behind the plate are being underrated by a lot of national guys. I dont expect Law to spend 3 hours of his life listening to podcasts about Zack Collins, BUT I HAVE! and I think if he did too he'd change his tune a little on the defensive side of his evaluation. So you take that kind of bullish offensive report and combine with his a positive defensive trajectory....to me I'm encouraged. I dont care about #95 whatever, I feel better about Collins after reading Law's take on him despite the ranking.
  13. If Keller-Newman-Glasnow+1 is the best deal on the table I have no problem waiting until the eve of ST to take that deal. That's a decent, definitely not great, return. Its still probably better than what they get at the deadline or next offseason. This is why I'm not "sky is falling" over anything, its entirely possible that Hahn is just playing chicken.
  14. They really would have to fly their entire system into the sun to pull it off and inter-divisional trades of this magnitude are risky for all involved.
  15. Dont freak out about these rankings too much guys.
  16. Kershaw Synder Lester Arrieta Sale Bumgarner Scherzer Porcello Kluber Cueto Carrasco Urias Price Darvish C Martinez Cole Degrom Tanaka Verlander Fulmer Again, this is JUST 2017. Quintana's age and contract have no power in this world. You could go either way on a few of them, but theres your 20. There are more guys (Teheran, Paxton, Roark, Hendricks etc.) that are debatable as well. Q is fringe T20 starter in baseball. "Best understood" Ha. Explain WAR in fewer words than batting average. And where are you getting this 10th best player in baseball from? He's the 11th best starter by WAR. Ofc the BEST UNDERSTOOD statistic in baseball has two different kinds depending on the site you're on, this is not an issue other LESS UNDERSTOOD statistics have.
  17. No way you can say Q is a top 10 pitcher in MLB unless you are just an all out slave to WAR. Nothing against him, but he's not that guy. Top 20 is a bit of a different story, I think I could come up with 20 pitchers I'd rather have in 2017 tbh.
  18. Devers is clearly superior to Kopech as a prospect. Point is Hahn was willing to back off on his demands for Sale but not so with Quintana. And before anyone says "WELL WE DONT KNOW THE OFFER FROM LUHNOW"...yeah, we do know it. You can combine the reported Sox demand with the Rays offer and figure that the hangup is Joe Musgrove or (and I'm just assuming this because it makes sense) Bregman. If Hahn was willing to give up on Devers, a fringe top 10 overall prospect in the game, for Sale then why isn't he budging from Musgrove? Musgrove is good but he's not THAT good. The only explanation that makes sense is that there was extra motivation to deal Sale. Whether it was because of the jersey incident and LaRoche embarassment or them identifying a fatal flaw poised to torpedo Sale's career (this is actually plausible, Sale was frustrating to watch at times last year) I dont know, and I dont think anyone ever will exactly. NOT SAYING THE REBUILD IS A FARCE NOT SAYING THERE IS A CONSPIRACY Just saying have just been players valued more than others based on little, if any, apparent baseball merit.
  19. It has been reported that Hahn's demand was Moncada+Kopech+Devers and Dombrowski refused to give that up. Hahn settled for Basabe and Diaz, which is a pretty huge downgrade from Devers at this point in time.
  20. There are have been two reports about specific packages being talked about with Houston I am not pulling anything out of thin air.
  21. I can reasonably assume that the Sox have been offered a similar deal that the Rays were sent for Archer and that the Sox are leaving it on the table because they want Musgrove or Bregman. Not taking much of a leap on that, and I think that's a good deal that makes the Sox better long term. Also if they had been shopping Sale for a year I would hope they have also had talks on Quintana. This FO can do more than one thing at a time.
  22. I'm not asking anyone to sell me on the Boston players. What I am asking is if Hahn was so eager to trade Sale even if his price wasn't met why won't he do the same for Quintana? And why is everyone so willing to excuse this double standard? I mean I see a lot of people who say "well if they won't meet Hahn's price they should jus t keep him", but Boston didn't meet Hahn's price on Sale and everyone rushes to tell me how great that trade was. I want the Sox to do well, but I'm getting to the point where I have serious issues with how this rebuild is taking shape. There is no reason Melky, Fraz, Abreu, Jones, Robertson, Migo etc. should ALL be on the team to open the season. The "well the market for these guys hasn't developed" excuse doesn't work. A serious market has developed for Quintana but they're not trading him, multiple teams have been connected to Robertson but talks around him are dead (they should feel lucky to give him away to avoid paying him), Frazier and Melky both walk away for nothing in a year...I don't know. It's not even February yet so I'm not going to start assuming things, but I am going to ask questions about the motivations of the front office to move the players they did.
