Schriffen says he was aiming at “Sportscasters”
Nardiwashere replied to Chick Mercedes's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The guy is the executive producer of probably the flagship show on the #1 sportsradio station in the third largest market in the country but people act like he has no sources or connections because he got into a spat with weirdo, Dan Proft. Meanwhile, people share tweets from "@SuperDawgHotDog492384248" as if they are an authority. I find it odd that everyone here is very ready to assume the worst about the White Sox but this is a bridge too far? That the manager we all hate and do not respect lost the clubhouse in the middle of a historic losing streak during the worst season of anyone's life? Lol why is this being debated? I don't get Soxtalk sometimes. -

This guy pisses me off. He always does the "isn't everything so wonderful?!?" schtick but it feels phony. Like last night I turn on the game and he's saying how awesome Oakland fans are and how great the Oakland Colluseum is.. it feels fake and he seems like he is kind of a prick underneath that whole persona. He may be a great guy, but I get weird vibes from him... could just be him trying too hard. I gotta say, I really enjoy Beckham in the booth. I'd dump Stone for him. I'm tired of Stone's whole thing. -
Its amazing he hasn't been fired yet. He needs to go. Its embarrassing.

Crochet Trade Updates (Nightengale)
Nardiwashere replied to Chicago White Sox's topic in Trade Winds 2024
If Flaherty brought back some awesome package and Crochet and/or Robert were dealt for s%*#, people would have a point. This is pretty much status quo. BTW, is WestEddy trapped under some heavy object? Where has he been? -
Crochet Trade Updates (Nightengale)

Fedde's expected return by most on this board was one prospect in the back half of the top 100 and another decent prospect outside the top 100. They got a guy who was in the 30's last year before he graduated and instead of a second piece, they got two single A players they like. No one expected much from Pham or Kopech deals. No one was certain we'd even be able to trade Crochet or want to trade Robert. I don't like the Fedde deal and it was weird and we should have gotten another piece but people need to recalibrate here... the gap between what we expected for Fedde and what we got isn't THAT far off. And Crochet/Robert deals are just delayed a few months until we can get a better package. The trade deadline wasn't some earthshattering even like people are pretending. They traded some guys, probably should have gotten another player or two, and the two biggest trades got pushed back a few months to avoid taking a weaker package. In the big scheme of things, nothing has changed in the last 10 days. -
Zero BA T100 prospects traded at the 2024 TDL

Also, this idea that because no top 100 prospects were dealt this deadline (even though many were dealt last deadline and this past offseason), it means no top 100 prospects will ever be dealt henceforth for the rest of time is nonsense. -
Crochet Trade Updates (Nightengale)

According to you guys, delaying Crochet and Robert trades by 3-4 months will set the team back years? Come on. -
Probably C or C-. When all is said and done, the top four pitchers available were Skubal, Crochet, Flaherty, Fedde. Flaherty and Fedde got dealt for packages that were kind of underwhelming. The other two didn't get dealt. Baltimore stayed in their "budget" and got two SPs with eras in the 4's. Cubs obviously didn't get any good offers for Taillon. Seems like teams only paid for RPs. We were looking for offensive prospects. Who were the best offensive prospects dealt? Not many. Didn't seem like the market matched up with what we wanted to do. That being said, the Fedde deal is weird and doesn't make sense.

Now I REALLY want Orioles to get knocked out of playoffs early.

Marlins just made another deal... Brazoban to Mets -
Even if that is the case, you'd think acquiring Tommy Edman would be cheaper than what they did.
-
Exactly. I don't get what they were doing at all. To be honest, it makes less sense than the Sox.
-
I'm asking you because you were the one that implied Fedde was equal to what SD gave up (even though you said in another thread, you'd be happy with Norby and Stowers).
-
Lol ok. If that was the case, why wouldn't the Dodgers just trade for Fedde straight up (since they gave up all the prospects anyways) and flip him? They preferred Tommy Edman.
-
Dejong was fine. This return is fine. Anyone getting upset over it is being a drama queen.
-
I pretty much agree with this. I think the Dodgers are not getting enough criticism. To me, they look like idiots along with the Sox.
-
I'm not defending the Fedde trade, I was convinced the reporters were all wrong for like 2 hours after it was reported. But if Fedde was worth a backend top 100 guy and another prospect outside the top 100, they traded him for Vargas (a guy who was #40 a year ago) and probably is valued by the Sox/others as a backend top 100 guy right now and instead of a second guy, they got two 19 year olds they liked. The deal looks bad because they gave up Kopech and Pham and Cardinals weirdly only gave up Edman etc. If they sent over like Victor Scott or someone or if they didn't trade Kopech and got another lotto ticket, I think everyone would say it was in line with our expectations. I also KNOW that if Getz traded for Kyle Stowers, the same people in this thread would be flipping out that we took on a guy turning 27. But yes, that wasn't a good deal and one would think Fedde's package would be clearly better than the Rogers package but I admit its closer than it should be. Orioles probably paid a little more because they were running out of guys they could afford with the players they wanted to move.
-
Yeah, I'm not saying Rogers = Fedde.
-
Vargas probably better than Norby. Stowers does nothing for me on this team. I wont pretend to know about the 19 year olds we got. I'd bet Elias offered this deal to the Sox and they chose Vargas over Norby, which is reasonable. The problem with the Fedde trade was it was one player short, especially if we included Kopech... who isn't great but had some value.
-
If the Sox traded Fedde for Norby and Stowers yesterday, you'd be posting how great it was? I doubt it.
