Ok, fine and true, but are you going to hold up the rest of your offseason waiting for Joc Pederson? How long do you leave that offer out there? If you make your final offer, and then just hang around waiting, well that isn't good negotiating. Whatever your views on it, the Sox clearly abide by a pretty rigid budget. And they clearly wanted Hendriks. It could have been they they wanted their more minor moves out of the way so they knew exactly what they had to offer to Hendriks. And sometimes guys don't move off their numbers. That has happened a lot recently too. Heck, JBJ still got 2/24, and he waited.

It was reported they they offered Pederson. They offered him more than they offered Eaton. They offered him more than he ended up getting. Yeah, would have been nice to get him, but I think Joc had a say in it. He didn't sign the Sox offer. It isn't worth crying about. They legitimately made him a better offer than he got, what do you want them to do, hold a gun to his head and make him sign?

Yeah, there is risk for sure, but that's true with pretty much any coach. You have Beilein and Matta out there, with big time experience and midwest ties, but there are what, 4 (Marquette, DePaul, Indiana and Minnesota) off the top of my head big conference teams looking for coaches in the Midwest right now. Moser has to be the top of the mid-major pyramid.

I would expect he will have more options than this, and much better options than DePaul, likely another Big East school a bit to the north, and maybe a Big 10-20 team or 2 calling. Your point about DePaul v. Loyola is spot on though.
