  1. Holy crap. If you take away all of Hank's homers, he still had more hits than Wade Boggs. Wade is 30th in hits in MLB history.
  2. I think that most of us (at least speaking for myself here) are trying to deal in reality. The Sox have made no mention of looking at Eloy like he is a DH at this point, quite the opposite actually. So while it may be the role for which he is best suited, it isn't in his immediate future. Especially with Abreu under contract and Vaughn coming up. That combination will probably be the primary DH in the not too distant future. No one wants to see Eloy get hurt bumbling after a ball in LF, but that's where he is going to be.
  3. You keep saying this, but there has been no indication at all that this is part of the plan. As much as you wish it to be so...
  4. 25 time All Star. TWENTY-FIVE TIME ALL STAR. Haha in 23 seasons. Before my time, and I haven't heard about it, but were there seasons with double All Star games??? Even still, he didn't make the ASG in his first and last seasons. That's it.
  5. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/a/aaronha01.shtml His BBref page. Just astounding.
  6. Wow. Rest in Peace. They truly don't get better than Hank.
  7. Wasn't this started first??? This thread probably inspired the fake rumor.
  8. Yeah, that's a pretty good outcome, wouldn't you say? I guess, though, I did word it poorly. I should have said a top level outcome.
  9. Yeah, we sure are. And injuries can change everything. But Crochet seems to have a "skies the limit" type ceiling, without a complete bomb out floor. If he puts it together, he could be one of the most dominating pitchers in baseball, and he isn't years away. I don't know why any team would trade that.
  10. https://www.mlb.com/news/garrett-crochet-100-mph-pitches I'm sorry, why entertain trading this dude? It looks like a reasonable floor is an Andrew Miller type, a likely outcome is an Aroldis Chapman type, a good outcome is a Chris Sale type and if he puts it all together and hits his ceiling.... well, grab some bench, everyone.
  11. I'd be in on Archer too. I think I'd go Tanaka (ha), Paxton, then Archer/Leake on my wish list. I like Richards a lot to be honest, but he is just so risky. I'd be good with him for sure, but I think I'd personally prioritize other guys.
  12. Uh, what? They didn't give up on Narvaez. They traded him for a very useful piece. There is a difference. And you keep saying Urias is the same a Madrigal. Despite the fact that Urias has never hit more than .239 in a season. That's right, a full 101, the good Wild Turkey, below where Nick hit in his rookie season. In fewer ABs last season, Nick had more hits. Urias also struck out nearly 5 times as often. He also doesn't hit for power. He is like Madrigal, if you take away Madrigal's best skill. Please stop with this comparison. It is bogus. Only Nellie Fox comps, please.
  13. Even Cubs level Quintana would have been pretty darn good as a 4 starter.
  14. My best guess is that it doesn't make sense for the Brewers to trade one of their best young players for anything less than a couple of the Sox best prospects. And since the Sox don't want to part with those prospects, a deal doesn't get done. But, disclaimer, I'm an idiot.
  15. Obviously I'm not him, but he has stated several times that the Sox aren't trading Kopech, Vaughn or Crochet.
  16. Who knows. Hahah. The actors name is Corbin Bernsen though. He was in Major League, and Psych, among other things.
  17. And if they offered the most, that's where he'd go. But that doesn't seem likely. The Giants seem much more likely than the Tigers to me.
  18. A spoken desire to win is often falls by the wayside when presented with more money by a worse team.
  19. Kip Wells? Josh Fogg? They were useful guys, and decent pitchers, but not crippling.
  20. And had never been good before the Sox traded for him. Burnes was a top 10 Cy Young finisher last season. All Todd Ritchie did was throw innings. Not necessarily good innings. Its a horrible comparison.
