  1. This would be my plan exactly, except I would sign Rosario instead of Brantley to DH. I'd gladly take either.
  2. Is it just me or are people upset the Sox got closer to being a World Series caliber team? They have to be one of the best, what 2-3 teams in the AL now, by a wide margin right? They didn't scuttle their chances of still having a great rotation under control right? Kopech, Cease, Crochet, Thompson, Dahlquist, Lambert, Steiver, Lopez still all on board? Better crop of free agent pitchers available next offseason if Lynn walks? Check. The team is better today than it was last year. What AL teams have a better pitching staff than the Sox do now? Which NL teams for that matter? Not too many. Though I would still expect another FA starter...
  3. No kidding. The Sox just got a lot better, and made themselves legitimate contenders for the World Series this year, and people are freaking out about it. I don't get it. I like Dunning too, and I think he will be solid. But the team now has a top flight rotation this year, and bought time for Cease, Kopech, Crochet, Lambert, Steiver and Lopez to see what they have.
  4. Honestly didn't know he had an opt out. You can't do that if you don't remedy that situation.
  5. Giolito, Keuchel, Free Agent, Eovaldi, Lopez/Kopech/Free Agent/Steiver
  6. Madrigal, Cease, Dunning and Collins for Bogaerts, Eovaldi and some cash. You play Bogaerts at 2B.
  7. For the first 5 years of his career, Carlos Lee averaged 31 doubles and 24 HR. With a .334 OBP That's not good enough for Vaughn?
  8. I'm sorry, isn't this guy a killer to have in your order? You keep putting All Star levels on him and that's not enough. I don't get it.
  9. Wasn't Youkilis really good (well not with the Sox, but overall)? What am I missing? Wouldn't Vaughn being an .861 career OPS guy be a complete win?
  10. Even Viciedo was a reasonably talented player. He just couldn't ever quite put it all together. But the tools were definitely there.
  11. Yeah, definitely not sure how he would translate, but I think signing a guy to be your 8 hitter inherently carries less risk than signing someone to be your leadoff hitter. And after Springer, there sure seems to be a drop off. It seems like JBJ would be better because of his D, and Pedersen because of his power potential, but maybe after those guys? I really don't know, just throwing it out there.
  12. Any one else interested in Sung Bum Na? The Dinos were my adopted KBO team and I watched quite a bit. From what I saw, it sure looks like he can hit. His KBO numbers are great. He is LH, hits for avg, hits for power, walks at a decent clip. He is a RF, though DH'ed a bit this year as he was coming off a knee injury (think Ventura's ankle injury... yikes). But I think he is regarded as being a decent OFer. I know eminor is a connoisseur of all things Asian baseball, do you have any insights? I think after Springer, he is the guy I'd like to pursue.
  13. There are some questions it is best not to ask.
  14. Whew. Thanks for liking my previous post. I really needed that validation.
  15. I don't understand what kind of attention starved person would need to like their own posts. Or care that much. Has social media really crippled people mentally where "likes" are that important? Geesh. I'm gonna go back to yelling at clouds now.
  16. MLBTR is saying that the Mariners were asked for 2 of 3 between Kyle Lewis, Jarred Kelenic, and Julio Rodriguez. So if that's the ask from Seattle, than I can see them asking for Robert.
  17. Oh! Sweet! Then the Sox can trade them Grandal and resign McCann!
  18. Austin Jackson's contract didn't cripple the organization for a few years. That was definitely the better move.
  19. It is both. As I referenced, it is definitely Tampa to a degree, but he was also over 90 pitches in 5 innings in nearly half of his starts this year (5/11). That's more than a quick computer related hook. In 2019 he was over 90 in 5 innings 4 times, but he had several starts of fewer than 5 innings (9 starts). And in those 9 starts, he was over 20 pitches per inning ( rate of 100 pitches in 5 innings) in 7 of those starts. Nine is a lot of starts to not make it 5 innings, by the way, another red flag. While some of it is certainly the way Tampa operates, he just doesn't seem like a guy that will regularly go deep in games to me.
  20. So just for the record, Snell has thrown 7 or more innings one time since the beginning of the 2019 season. And that was in April 2019. Some of that is the Rays, but some is elevated pitch counts. He has made 30 starts exactly one time in his career. I know wins don't matter, but he has won 7 or more games 1 time in his career. That speaks of his inability to go deep into games to me. He has pitched more than 130 innings once in his career. He has struck out more than 150 once. He has had a WHIP beneath 1.2 once. The year he won the Cy Young, his ERA was more than a run lower than his FIP. He had one magnificent season, and has been a good pitcher otherwise. He isn't the guy Sale was when the Sox traded him, he isn't even close, and no one should make that mistake. Honestly, at what the price would likely be, I'm going to pass. And not only because trading with the Rays is horrifying.
  21. Cmon. Who hasn't put on some quarantine weight? And anyways, I think pitchers can be successful and fat.
  22. Totally. Just use one point of information. Even if there are others available. Why try to get a complete picture?
