  1. So, what if those corporations aren't bailed out, say Boeing. They're a bad guy. They've done stupid and unethical things. Now they're getting bailed out, and there is much fury. Ok. There are nearly 140,000 Americans who work at Boeing. By bailing out Boeing, those 140K people still have jobs. If Boeing were to fail, then not only does the US lose an important manufacturer, but 140k more people don't have jobs. And yeah, that's a drop in the bucket of what has happened, and will continue to happen, but for every employee at Boeing, there are more employees at other companies that need money to keep the doors open. Will some of it be spent selfishly or irresponsibly? Yeah. Almost certainly. Because there are always people that act irresponsibly. But as much as people hate to admit it, there are a lot of people that need these evil "corporations".
  2. Guy I disagree with says something completely rational and coherent. Let's take shots at him. Its the American way.
  3. https://www.latimes.com/science/story/2020-03-22/coronavirus-outbreak-nobel-laureate https://news.yahoo.com/study-says-high-temperature-high-213034915.html Some reasons for hope.
  4. While all of this may be true, it does not make what is happening in Italy (and elsewhere around the world) any less real. We have been in "social distancing" for what, a week for most of us? We all need to suck it up and realize that if we ignore what is happening you could likely kill people. Yeah, you may be fine, but you could easily transmit the disease to someone else.
  5. It makes a lot of sense though right? It is attacking the lungs, anyone with reduced lung capacity would likely be a higher risk or worse outcomes. Those dots seem to easily to connect.
  6. How about everyone pounding Greg, but just letting this go.
  7. Obviously a snap shot in time. As more people get tested, on the whole, the rate declines.
  8. No, I think blaming a pandemic on a person is stupid.
  9. That Putin guy? Is he with the athletic now?
  10. Is that the guy that said the Sox were going to sign Torii Hunter?
  11. Haha Ok. I said something silly I guess, but at least I didn't compare this to a pandemic which literally killed 3% of the people on the planet, destroying nearly as much life as all of WWII. In my opinion, if you think the US hasn't done anything right, you're a partisan hack that will believe anything the democrats tell you. If you don't think the US has done anything wrong, you're a partisan hack that will believe anything the republicans tell you. O'Hare was a mess. And obviously should have been better prepared. With the travel ban, there was sure to be a rush of people trying to get in. The lack of preparation is ridiculous.
  12. I also know, that even if you get onto a cruise ship in good shape, you leave with a dose of obesity, from personal experience. ? I would guess that cruiselines like Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Disney skew younger than the others.
  13. Obviously there have been mistakes, and everything he has said needs to be basically ignored, but the Trump administration hasn't failed on all fronts. He got a lot of crap, being called racist and xenophobic (about standard) when he blocked travel to China. Which was absolutely the right move in retrospect. Same thing with Europe. He was called all sorts of names, and criticized for not blocking the UK and Ireland, where there were far fewer cases. Their cases spiked the next day and they were added to the ban. Those have all been, while unpopular, I believe, the right moves for containing this and slowing the spread across the US. Also, not all the failures can be put on Trump, state level leadership has responsibility here as well. With that said, we should have been better prepared. We saw what happened in China. But many (myself included) didn't believe it was that big of a deal. Many, also rightly, didn't trust any of the information coming out of China. Then South Korea and Japan seemed to have much milder results than Japan did. That made it easy to say this was overhyped. Then came Italy. Italy is the warning the world can believe. I can almost forgive and forget any opinions expressed about Corona before Italy happened. The testing here hasn't been acceptable. Especially with the time available. Since the middle of last week, I think the US has been on top of stuff, being very aggressive in terms of trying to cut this thing off. It hasn't all been federal, but it shouldn't be either. The states have broad powers to combat this sort of thing. It is ignorant and simple minded to just say "blame Trump" for all of this.
  14. Will I? Dang. I'm not good at this game. ???.
  15. This is very true. There have been so many reports of people being upset that they can't get a test, and in many cases it makes no sense. There isn't a treatment, so unless you have the extreme symptoms or are in a vulnerable demographic, just act like you have the flu. it doesn't particularly matter if you have it or not. Control your temperature, drink fluids, get rest, and for goodness sakes, stay away from other people. I saw a story about a lady freaking out because her otherwise healthy teenage daughter had a cough and a fever of 100.5 and she couldn't get a COVID test. People need to keep their heads and think rationally.
  16. While this number seem a bit high, Donovan Mitchell, the Jazz player who tested positive, said today that he had been fine and is experiencing no symptoms at all. It makes you wonder how many others could be in this same boat, it also shows how dangerous it can be for the vulnerable, as people that have the virus may not be showing any symptoms at all.
  17. Well, the mystery sources at least lends a sense of normalcy to this whole thing.
  18. Its the manner in which he did it. It isn't constructive. Maybe "this is unacceptable, we need more customs agents to shorten this process and we need to be able to set up lines for the immuno-compromised, we also need a better process in place to screen those that may be infected". But instead he just yelled at the sky, exactly like Trump would have. The only purpose of that tweet was political pandering.
