  1. Cool, most people haven't. Do you think that could be an issue for a highly contagious disease?
  2. Yeah, this is well literally, huge. And we don't know the impact it could have.
  3. I don't know, Italy tried half measures, and now I think nurses there would tell a different story. Edit: You're clearly right though, and our half measures are earlier in our outbreak, so maybe that could make a significant difference.
  4. Ok, what did he accomplish by doing that? No we know he's mad? Cmon. Its stupid.
  5. He realizes he's the governor? Is this what counts as leadership from him? Faux anger? Maybe he should do something at the state level aside from talking to sports owners.
  6. Have you seen anything about what is happening in Italy? It isn't the black death and it isn't smallpox. But that doesn't mean it isn't something to be taken seriously. A couple of weeks ago I felt the same way, but in seeing what is happening, it is clear that this isn't something to take lightly. And if shutting some stuff down for a couple weeks prevents the spread, and we have MLB baseball in April as you suggest, that's great, and this down time would likely have made a huge contribution to that. If shutting some stuff down does nothing more than buys time for the health care system to prepare to handle this, then it is worth it. If shutting stuff down spreads out the infections, so the health care system is better able to handle it, then it is worth it. South Korea seems to have a pretty darn good handle on this thing. I hope the powers that be are paying attention to what they are doing.
  7. Closing schools is a double edged sword here. This disease is much gentler on children (thank goodness), and something like 40% of nurses in this country have school aged children. If they have to stay home to take care of the kids, it could put even more stress on the health care system.
  8. I've heard that while this is possible, it is unlikely because other forms of corona virus (SARS, MERS) were not impacted by warmer weather. In fact MERS originates in the the Saudi peninsula where it is well, quite warm. The way this is spreading throughout places like Italy and Iran makes it seem like warmer weather won't help out very much, sadly.
  9. Yeah why the urgency to kill the whole thing now? Set it aside for 4 weeks or something.
  10. I could be wrong here, and things are constantly changing, but isn't the NCAA tourney still on? Games played in empty arenas, but games still on correct? I saw a bunch of conferences cancelled their tourneys, but in general still on correct?
  11. His age is a legitimate reason to be concerned. But in the 2nd half last year, EE had a slash line of .321/.392/.643. Now, granted, and not helping the age concern is that his 2nd half consisted of 125 PA. But he mashed at least. And his first half, even though he hit 25 homers, featured a .199 BABIP. The dude can still hit when he is healthy. He has also been pretty darn durable. Last season was the first in which he didn't play at least 130 games since 2010. Maybe last season was foretelling his demise with missing some games. But his spring ABs are meaningless. He isn't a AA player trying to impress management to make the team. To even consider his spring is ignorant, silly or trolling.
  12. Cmon, he saw the bat speed himself. In exhibition games. How much more evidence could you possibly need?
  13. You've noticed that his bat is slower in 15 ABs? Of which, you've seen, what 2? Or 3?
  14. Yeah. He's gotta lose the weight. There is no way a chubby guy could ever succeed at baseball.
  15. You can't see what's wrong with that picture?????? How about all the freaking Packer stuff. Gross.
  16. They should sign Matt Harvey just to have him in camp to show Giolito the risk.
  17. High reward is often associated with high risk. If you are completely risk averse, you limit your potential gains. Plenty of "safe" picks never make it either.
  18. Hopefully they have better things to do than consider the conspiracy theories of message board people.
  19. Yeah, let's just accept the BS because "its the internet".
