  1. Yeah, I don't think I'd be upset if it were Bishop or Bleday even. I prefer Abrams and Vaughn. Or Vaughn and Abrams, but it would be understandable for either of the others.
  2. Why are people treating a squeeze bunt and a sac bunt in the same way? They are pretty clearly different things. If executed, one results in an opportunity to score a run, the other results in a run. Runs are the point of the game, and yes, you always want to maximize your chances to score them. Sometimes, though, late in a tie game, 1 is all you need. Also, properly executed, like last night, Squeeze bunts often do not result in an out. You can look at the data and draw conclusions. But using the general data universally isn't necessarily the best thing. There will always be exceptions. Instances where the mass data does not apply, but the exact situation needs to be considered. Also, there is nothing more exciting than a squeeze bunt. So that was fun.
  3. Weird things can certainly happen in the MLB draft. I would be legitimately shocked if Rutschman fell. What I am starting to hate about this draft, is that it seems like it is a 1-2 draft for the most part, and after Rutschman and Witt there are a bunch of players on about the same level between 3-8 or 9, something like that. So hopefully something weird happens and the Sox end up with one of those 2.
  4. Yeah, there is no other way that a team could sign good mid level players that actually produce.
  5. I think the environments in which Rodgers has played should be taken into account as well. He has played in some pretty hitter friendly places. While Robert is currently in the least hitter friendly place this side of Oakland.
  6. Recently mentioned him in another thread, but Eduardo Escobar.
  7. While we are jumping in the old Hindsight Time Machine, Eduardo Escobar has turned into a pretty solid player. Hard to say if he would have developed that way for the Sox, but that in itself it damning.
  8. I'm starting to think that Trey M may be a .400 hitter in the big leagues after what he has lived through in Birmingham.
  9. Or that they hired him without interviewing anyone else. " Hmm.... Well, you're already here, so I guess you're the coach. I really don't want to move."
  10. It seems like RIcky wants to prove that lineup construction doesn't matter. So he is putting together the worst lineups possible and see if they can win.
  11. I don't think this is a ridiculous expectation. Throughout the minors, until his injury, he always hit higher than .280. He may not offer much in terms of pop, but he seems to have the bat to ball skills. I think .280 would be well within his probable outcome bell curve.
  12. Yeah, I wasn't second guessing, he was clearly the choice. Just worked out as a bad outcome for the Sox.
  13. I was completely dumbfounded when Rodon fell to the Sox. Couldn't believe how lucky they were. Ugh. If I remember correctly the guy they were most connected to in that draft was Nola, believing that Rodon would go 1, or 2. Looking back, there were some pretty good players taken later in that 1st round and comp round. Ah well.
  14. Hahaha. No joke. After Abreu this is just random. It is like, he looks around and just picks whoever he sees. Edit: yeah, not just after him.
  15. Wow, for real? People are crazy and SM makes it way worse.
  16. I like that McCann is now in the long term plans.
  17. Good call on my part. I knew I had the power to jinx Bauer.
  18. Anyone remember the "do we have too much pitching conversation"?
  19. He is a consensus what, top 5 player? There are likely lots of FO people and scouts in love with his talent. You taking Kenny liking him as the kiss of death is weird.
