  1. People always say this, but for the guys that missed chunks of ST last season, I think only JD had his usual season. Most of the guys seemed like their game suffered at least a little, and in some cases a lot.
  2. If their peak payroll is only 120ish, the team is screwed for any long sustainable success anyways. That figure, last year would have been 17- ish in payroll, and would have fallen between the Twins and Royals. I don't think having two players that could be HOF type players on the roster at the same time would be a bad thing. Not that I think it will happen though.
  3. I'm confused by the Brewers. They are right on the cusp of being able to win a World Series, and desperately need a 2B, of which there were a ton of good and relatively inexpensive options, and a SP, and they really haven't done much.
  4. I'm sick of this. Guys, I just called Jerry and told him to get this done. He told me we would. We are bros from the neighborhood. Used to play some pick up hoops together. I hit a big game winner one time so he kinda owes me. So, this is as good as done. I called in the favor. I took care of all of you. You are welcome. Wednesday, maybe? Who knows.
  5. People have been saying this my whole life, I'm 37. Game still seems to be pretty healthy.
  6. Yeah, they have already had a great offseason. Adding Paxton, LeMaheiu, and Ottavino, and retaining Happ and Britton. Easy to see how they have improved, where Boston has gotten worse in losing Kimbrel (so far) and Kelly. And just like Philly, their fans may view Cashman as a failure if they don't get a whale.
  7. Very true. From a practical point of view ( at least in my opinion) I think Keuchel and Kimbrel would finish out their roster much better than Harper/Machado. Not that either of those guys wouldn't help, obviously they would help every single team. But I'd say their offense is a better match for their division rivals than their pitching right now. I'd say both the Mets and Nats have better rotations, as well as better bullpens. Adding Kimbrel and Keuchel for 30M or so may be a better investment than spending that money on Harper or Machado. Obviously that lacks the splash, but it may help more.
  8. What kind of stinks for the Phillies, is that in my opinion, they have had a pretty great offseason, but because of the "stupid money" comment, without one of the Whales, it will be viewed as a failure. Adding Realmuto, Segura, McCutchen and Roberson are all pretty darn good improvements for the Phillies.
  9. Oh, only for personal reasons. The 10 day was a pain in the butt for my fantasy leagues.
  10. I would guess some sort of not wanting to have a negative connotation with the word disabled. The name doesn't really matter. I hope they go back to the 15 day what-ever-it-is
  11. Yeah, I also am not familiar with this story, if you can share more, I would greatly appreciate it.
  12. Could you imagine trading the last 2 NL MVPs, the best catcher in baseball, and an All Star OFer, and getting their returns? Yikes. The Sox did better just with their secondary pieces. Kopech, Cease, Basabe, Lopez, Dunning... I'd rather have that crew than what the Marlins have gotten. And the Sox didn't even have an MVP to trade, let alone 2 of them. Maybe it is unfair to characterize Yelich as a traded MVP... but still, even without how he blew up last season, everyone knew that talent level.
  13. Is it even arguable? I would say he is clearly number 1, with number 2 being quite a distance behind.
  14. At this point, if the Sox announced him at a press conference, with Jerry, Kenny, Hahn and Manny, Alonso and Jay I would still be skeptical.
  15. Well, no matter what, it is hard to play 18 innings quickly. ?
  16. Yeah, I don't know why MLB keeps catering to the casual-really-doesn't-care fan at the expense of the fans that love the game.
  17. Wow, that is great. Do you mind sharing where you found that?
  18. If I had a dollar for ever tweet or rumor like this, I'd have enough to outbid everyone for Manny.
  19. No it isn't. People have lost sight of the point of offense. The point of offense is to score runs. This is an incredibly easy and simple concept that sometimes gets lost in the statistical revolution. Usually not making outs helps. But not always. Now you may return to your regularly scheduled program of half the people think Bryce is obviously better and half thinking Manny is obviously better. Sorry. I had to vent.
