Why cant the system just tell the ump what to call. Then you keep the ump to call the ball or strike on the field. I mean if you can make the right call you should.
-
Also, do we have any news on Trenkle or Krogman?
-
Can we get the original list to include these guys as signed?
-
Collins is listed as our # 11 prospect, not included in the top 100 or in the top 10 catchers.
-
Actually, seeing how a prospect responds to adversity is an important part of assessing a player. I would let him figure this out than move him to AAA. Nobody is saying he isn't a top prospect or that he wont succeed but part of his assessment has to be adjusting to how he is being attacked at the plate.
-
From the sounds of it, he has been chasing a lot of garbage low and away. it seems he cant lay off the breaking ball down there. I think time in AAA would actually benefit him.
-
Personally I want Robert batting 1 getting more at bats. I would put Madrigal batting 8 or 9. With that stacked line up its not an insult to his bat.
-
That's true, but also it is really nice that we will have most of the talent from our highly ranked farm a couple years ago all up at the same time. I wish we had better player development. we have a big group of guys that I feel like if they were in the Rays or Cardinals system would take off and become highly ranked guys. Also, if our AA outfield played for the Yankees a couple of them would be in the top 100. (I don't think theyre deserving but being a yank would get them there)

Having 5 guys in the top 30 isn't that bad. At the beginning of the year I wouldn't have said we lacked in prospect depth, but after all the struggles in AA it is starting to feel that way. It also hurts having the guys who did so great in great falls last year stumbling in Kanny. Also we have recently graduated quite a few top prospects which also hurts depth. I really think if we have a guy or 2 break out who is struggling in AA or A the depth wont be that big of an issue.

I cant give you stats for those things, but Keith Law said he calls a good game and handles the pitchers well. He also said he does well controlling the base paths.

Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him

That's why most of us are saying "only trade him for something significant." If its not a great package then we should keep him. -

Greg and Vile... do you guys not understand sacrificing something that is OK in the present for something really good in the future? Fighting for 500 is ok but trying to get good players for when we are good is worth the sacrifice for most fans. -
I really like Collins and I have said this before, but I think if baseball goes to an electronic strike zone, it will make him so much better. As a hitter he will be able to control the strike zone better, and it would make him a good catcher defensively. According to Keith Law, he calls a good game and controls the baserunning well with his arm. His main problem it sounds like is receiving and framing.

All 3 of those guys started off horrendous but have started to turn it around recently. While those numbers aren't good they are dramatically better than how they started.

I would consider trading him in the offseason *IF* we happen to sign Grandal. -
How about "The Madrigal Mystery Tour is coming to take you away..."
-
What about his afl performance? Or his spring training? There are some who thought he should be in AA to start the season...
-
If TA is really blocking somebody who is an MLB ready short stop in a few years, you can trade either one for a kings ransom. Or who knows, maybe somebody gets hurt. Drafting for need in baseball is silly. if you get the best player available they can be worth something either through a trade or on your own club.

Fegan interviews Hostetler on upcoming draft

I would think Bleday instead of Abrams. No reason in particular, just a great college bat over HS upside. -
I completely agree. it would be great if the best player available wasn't a right handed 1b but that might not be the case. Everybody understands why certain profiles are more valuable than others. Which makes Vaughn that much more impressive. Most evaluators have him as the #2 prospect, even while being a right handed 1b.

But I keep getting told he has and will have no power and he is a non-prospect...so this can’t be right

Tim Anderson to be suspended 1 game for... language?

What % of African American do you have to be to use the n word? If we have different rules for different races isn't that saying they are different, which is the opposite of what we want. There should be no difference and no different set of rules. -
I prefer the scoreboard but I don't ever start the gameday threads... so I guess whoever is putting in the effort can put in whatever they want.
-
The sox should not care one bit about W-S draw. If its whats best for the prospect they HAVE TO do that.

Ive been wondering this as well. Does not being a hitters park mean its big and hard to hit HRs? or does it suppress BA as well?
