  1. QUOTE (yesterday333 @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 09:44 AM) There are 9 OF in our top 30, in a top 5 farm system. How much more do you want? All 9 have the potential to be a quality starter. Is there a system that has more potential in the OF than ours? I think of those 9 we are likely to get at least 3 quality guys, and maybe a couple stars. I am going by FutureSox top 30
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 09:22 AM) I think the OF depth is a bit overstated. There is one star at the front, and another potential star who could fly through the system. After that? I am just not as sold. I am hopeful, but there are still guys with a lot of flaws in those groups. There are 9 OF in our top 30, in a top 5 farm system. How much more do you want? 3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 12:49 PM) Great points. I personally didn't sense too much angst about the loss of Tatis cause Sox have so many solid to great prospects coming up soon. I figure most people just figure there's bound to be a mistake or two made in the rebuild. But if I'm wrong, I can accept that fact. HAHA if you go over to the futuresox side of the board you would see how much angst there is. I am so tired of hearing about the mistake.
  4. It will be interesting to have this discussion in a month or 2 from now... when we haven't only played 2 games against one of the worst teams in baseball, with everything looking like sunshine and rainbows. Will everybody have a different feeling about trading Avi?
  5. Curbelo has a breakout season and puts himself in the top 10 in our system
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Mar 28, 2018 -> 08:30 AM) So apparently there was a conference call yesterday with Chris Getz and FutureSox tweeted out some of the news: AAA: Kopech will obviously be in this rotation. No other big prospects in this rotation to start the season (see AA comments). AA: Stephens, Adams, Guerrero, Puckett, & Clarkin will start the season in the rotation. Hansen will join the staff once he finishes his throwing program (timing TBD). Jimenez, Collins, & Zavala will be there on the positional side. A+: Dunning will start 2018 in this rotation. The OF to start the season will be Rutherford, Basabe, Call, & Booker. Robert will start start his season here when healthy and be the primary CF. Extended: Curbelo will start 2018 here to get regular at-bats. I am surprised they have Collins and Zavala both at AA. Also A+ will have quite the defensive OF. Isnt that 5 guys who could play CF if needed?
  7. WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!! my addiction is back.
  8. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 22, 2018 -> 04:39 PM) If you draft Madrigal, where do you slot him eventually? Normally I wouldn’t ask the question, but he should come relatively quick. I'd slot him at 3b and as the back up SS and 2b, and when slide burger over to 1b and the backup 3b. I would like to slot Moncada at 3b but it seems he wants to stay at 2b.
  9. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 14, 2018 -> 02:03 PM) All I know is I really want the Dodgers to sign Harper lol no thanks to Yankees and f*** no to Cubs. Yeah people keep saying Harper to the Yanks but he has said in the past he hates New York city and he doesn't like their clean shaven and no long hair rules. I think he either stays in Washington dc or LA or the cubs.
  10. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 14, 2018 -> 08:54 AM) Anyone else find it odd that someone voted for Cordell to start the season as the primary CF but doesn't even have him starting Opening Day against (as of right now) a lefty (Cordell being a righty)? Haha that was me... I misread the question. I thought it was asking who would be the primary CF though out the season. I don't think he will be starting opening day because I think they will give him time in AAA because of the injury but I think he will take the starting job during the season.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 6, 2018 -> 04:20 PM) Do you agree with me that because of this, careers are going to be shorter in the future and good luck compiling Hall of Fame numbers if you are a ballplayer? Do you at least agree with my premise that it's going to be VERY HARD or at least much harder for players to put up Hall of Fame numbers in the future with a changing mindset regarding age? No one is saying those players are useless. They are saying teams don't wanna pay what they used to for them. They can still play long careers they just wont get long contracts for outrageous money anymore.
  12. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Feb 3, 2018 -> 08:18 AM) That may be the most interesting thing of the MiLB season watching Collins and Zavala play. One of them is going to be the future Sox catcher and I have no idea who. I think they'll both be on the Sox MLB roster.
  13. I wonder how high Collins would be if he believed he can catch. If Collins can stay at catcher he has tremendous value.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 23, 2018 -> 08:58 AM) It would be really nice for system depth to see a breakout season by Curbelo. We lack depth at both SS and 3B, so having guys emerge there would be awesome. I got to see Curbelo play in a couple games at the beginning of last season before he got hurt. He was the best athlete on the field and its too bad he got hurt. I wonder if he will be assigned to Great Falls again this year.
  15. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 04:26 PM) these players aren't waiving no-trade clauses to sit on the White Sox bench...which is where they should be if the Sox trade for them. No one ranked Burger where the Sox drafted him, so it looked to me like a reach for position...and if that's what they're doing they need to stop. Burdi would never have been selected (just like Tatis would have never been traded) were the Sox realistic with their chances in June 2016. MLB.com had Burger as the number 16 player in the draft, so I wasn't that much of a reach. And he was the best bat available at that point, so I think he would've been the pick no matter what position he played.
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 18, 2018 -> 07:38 AM) I always have a hard time on these topics because I don't know who the 30 is, in this case, to be outside of. Some of the names being thrown around are pretty solidly in the 30 anyway. I will say, it was awfully tough leaving some guys off my list for the FS polling/arguing we just finished. There will be a number of legit prospects left off. When will FS release their list? I prefer the FS list over all the other ones. Can you give us any details? Like who was most argued over? or who made a big jump?
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 12, 2018 -> 03:49 PM) JD Martinez is a uniquely terrible fit unless Garcia is moved because Garcia and Martinez at the corner OF spots means we have no where to play the mutant at AA when it gets called up later this summer. I think moving Avi would be the idea here. and if not you still have the DH.
  18. QUOTE (coco1997 @ Dec 22, 2017 -> 01:41 PM) Where's Robert? Put Yelich in LF and Robert in CF...
  19. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 09:47 AM) Some people on here want them to be bad until their lives are over. No I think people don't wanna see all the work towards the rebuild be wasted on a trade for a guy who leaves next year anyway. I totally get how they feel. But if we are offering Avi and other guys who aren't projected in our contention window its totally worth it. We shouldn't risk significantly damaging our rebuild for a "chance" at signing a guy. But I think there is a price that is worth it to bring him in.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 09:34 AM) If they aren't prepared to offer him the most cash, you have to admit the prospect he would be with the White Sox long term is minuscule, whether he goes to lunch with Ricky Renteria every day in 2018 or not. To me this is saying we will be willing to at least match anything somebody else is willing to give.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 09:15 AM) I would be totally willing to move Garcia on such a deal. That offsets our payroll commitment without costing us anything from our 2020 roster. Well this might be what we are doing. If its an impressive offer with no top prospects then youd have to assume its players on the current roster. Abreu might be part of the package. And I thought I read somewhere that the O's still plan to compete this year.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 09:10 AM) If the package for him is Bernardo Flores (Who?) I'm ok with it. Anything beyond that is nonsensical. Is that fair? What if it was Avi and Flores? Avi isn't under contract when we are set to compete. Is there anybody in the bigs you would trade for him?
  23. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 08:56 AM) This rumor makes absolutely no sense. I'd love Manny, but only when the Sox are ready to compete. They have a plan and offering a package of some of our top prospects (which is exactly what the Orioles will want) for a single hitter makes no sense. The Sox literally have a bunch of unknowns heading for the rotation, some awesome young arms, but still unknowns. You get Manny when you are pretty confident that you're ready to compete. This deal simply makes NO SENSE, which leads me to believe would Hahn be talking to the Orioles as a proxie for another team (Yankees) who he'd flip Manny over to? Trade off good prospects to Os for Manny, get great ones from a team who should be able to pay for Manny (Yankees) and proceed with the current model? The Sox talent is down in the farm, SOME of those kids are gonna make it, SOME will not. If we deplete those numbers the chances of the Sox being a very poor team (even with Manny) goes up. Sox rotation is going to be what? Gio and Lopez right now headline it, but they are still developing especially concerning the number of innings forced to pitch. Then you have what...Shields as your next man up? Fulmer and Covey are in the mix. Who knows there. Eventually Rodon and Kopech may well form the top end of the rotation, but Rodon is out half the year and Kopech may not be quite ready. I think Alec Hansen, if the Sox can get his mechanics more consistent could be a dominant pitcher in time, Cease and Dunning also nice looking arms. But nothing set in stone, NOTHING. WAY too many questions. But we are not offering top prospects... and we have the best offer... we wont get in a bidding war for him.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 08:31 AM) I'm almost against the concept. I guess you could talk me out of Adams maybe? On the grounds of you could get more than that at the deadline even if he has a rough first half like he had last year, but even someone like that is an expensive risk. But seriously I really dislike this as an idea. You're spending $17 million and giving up players for the imaginary idea that he'll do something other than take the best offer made to him on the FA market next year when he's worked hard to get to the point where he can cash in on the best deal? The entire idea sounds like Malarkey to me. I guess I see it different. My guess is there will be a few teams who offer similar contracts and if we can set ourselves apart, while offering the same amount as another team. I mean if he likes it with us and we offer the same as another team he will choose us.
  25. Why does Cease keep getting brought up. They've said no top prospects and he is in the top 100, I have no reason to believe he would be included.
