White Sox have shown interest in Machado
yesterday333 replied to peppers312's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2017 -> 08:22 AM) This trade concept only makes sense if you think the organization can know which ones will work and which ones won't. Edit: Oh and I'm really down on Rodon if that counts. Are there any players in our system youd be willing to trade for Machado? Is there a starting point for you or are you against trading anybody for him? -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 04:28 PM) If they don't expect to be able to get an extension done, that's still 2 possible guys who could be contributors in 2019 for a guy who won't be. That's a move that makes us worse in 2019. Why make the team worse on paper in 2019 and 2020? If you know you have $1000 in the bank and a $900 rent check coming due, spending that $299 on a great TV is still a mistake. Its not a strong offer... no top prospects... and we get a year to pitch to him. whats the down side? -

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 04:23 PM) People losing their damn minds over rumors. Come on, what in the last 18 months makes you think NOW Hahn is impatient and wants to throw away all that hard work he did to go all in on a Machado trade? Have some faith, or a beer. Haha I agree. Not one of our top prospects will be traded. People need to calm down. Hahn knows we only have him for one year and our offer will reflect that. -

If you had to trade either Avi or Jose....
yesterday333 replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 06:54 AM) What about an Abreu and Avi package to the Rockies? I'd assume they could get 4-5 prospects (not named Rodgers since Arenado and DJLM are free agents after next year) along with their 18 competitive balance pick. How about: Pint, Dahl or Tapia, McMahon, Senzatella, and Almonte (bring him back)? I really like welker, and I hope we get him if we do a deal with the Rockies. Would be interesting to see how much we could get for both. -
Looks For A Match In A Jose Abreu Trade

QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Nov 24, 2017 -> 01:48 PM) Abreu to Rockies for McMahon, Tom Murphy, and Ryan Castellini I wouldn't do that. Like everybody has said I would only give up Abreu for a huge package and that is alright... But I would do Avi for Tapia, Welker, and a high end arm. I think I'd only give Abreu if Rogers was included. -
Is Barreto and a lotto ticket too much to ask for an all-star?

QUOTE (Dunt @ Nov 15, 2017 -> 07:24 AM) Avi for Luzardo and Neuse I would not trade avi for that. would rather sit on him and see if something better comes along or just keep him.

Will he be replaced or do we just have one less pitcher?

New rule idea: Vertical safe zone
yesterday333 replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I just think you are going to make things infinitely more complicated trying to make a rule like this, where as it is pretty cut and dry with the rules how they are now. on the base you are safe, off you are not... why make some convoluted rule for this case where its ok to come off the base. Don't make things more complicated than they need to be. -
New rule idea: Vertical safe zone
yesterday333 replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Is it really that hard to stay on the base? You know if you come off you can be out. It really doesn't take that much extra effort to not come off the bag... -
Zack Collins Working on Swing Mechanics @ Instructs
yesterday333 replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in FutureSox Board
Basically he needs to keep improving as a catcher. It is encouraging know that he has made strides and is improving, hopefully that will continue. He seems to be very committed to improving the different areas of his game so I am not hitting the panic button with him. -
QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 09:23 AM) my 2 cents: If you have a choice between Arenado, Harper, Machado and Stanton and you tell me the Sox WILL sign one? I put Stanton at the back of that list. I still like Arenado and Machado a whole lot more than the others. However at the same time if you tell me this is JUST a contract dump? I'd entertain Stanton. I do think he'll have a big trade market however if it just a contract dump. Giants, Phillies, Yankees, Cubs, RedSox, Dodgers can all absorb that price tag a lot easier than us.. People may think I'm crazy, but I can see the Yankees going after Stanton AND Harper... Imagine an OF of Judge, Stanton and Harper ...... infield of Torres, Sanchez, etc. But to go back to the original question - yes I'd acquire Stanton. He'll be 38 at the end of the deal ... Pujols is 37. It's not inconceivable for Stanton to play 6-7 really good years within that contract and a few more at replacement level. Harper has already pretty much said no to the yanks. says he hates new York. He also doesn't like their rules on facial hair and hair cuts.

Rating the Rebuild: Completed Year 1 Edition
yesterday333 replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I wonder if Rutherford had come over and hit .300 with some power if people wouldn't be so disappointed with the yankee deal. I really like Tito Polo so I don't hate this trade very much.At the time of the trade yanks fans were really upset they gave up Polo so that says a lot to me. And if Rutherford turns it around next year it will be a great trade. I gave the rebuild a 10. Right now we have so much potential that guys a year ago I really liked are after thoughts. There has yet to be a move I hate, and most the moves got more than I thought they would. Plus the signing of Robert... -
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 11:41 AM) I can believe this. A few if us around here have been saying to give TA more time because of his loss. Ill bet players weekend offered some healing for him as well. Being able to wear his friends name on his jersey probably helped.

QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Aug 29, 2017 -> 01:23 PM) Personally, I like it. I don't think the Sox' top tier guys need the AFL time as much as these bubble and/or injury guys do. I thought with Eloy missing the beginning of the year he would be on the roster. But I am excited about Zavala and Polo on the roster. I think Polo could be in the majors at some point next year.

Haha I am not interested in him either.and I doubt we'd give up prospects we just spent all that time getting.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 28, 2017 -> 03:10 PM) MLB Trade Rumors @mlbtraderumors 18m18 minutes ago Multiple teams interested in (offseason) Stanton trade, but #SFGiants have strongest interest, per @BNightengale: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/08/giancarlo-stanton-trade-rumors-giants-marlins.html …://https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017...-marlins.html …://https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017...-marlins.html … I think I read on espn that people are speculating we have interest in him too...

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2017 -> 09:22 PM) Do you really see the White Sox outbidding all of major league baseball to hand out a $250/300/+ million contract? I mean there is a chance I win the powerball. I think our odds are pretty similar. With the way things have changed with the Sox I could see us outbidding everyone... I dont see either of those guys going to a team that is a non-contender though. Why would Harper come here if Wash offers close to the same and is still one of the best teams in baseball.

I still believe in fulmer but in relief... he started out the season pretty good but I wonder if he got tired after a couple months. He wouldn't be throwing as many innings in the relief roll

QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 11:22 AM) Crazy how ATL has had a top 5 system for what seems like half a decade, CWS system is sure to regress with all those graduating within the next year (Moncada, Jimenez, Kopech, Giolito, Hansen, Fulmer, Gillaspie, Adams, Cordell, Stephens, Tilson, Guerrero, Bummer). CWS need to hit on the upcoming Draft and have to hope a few guys breakout while the others develop I predict CWS opens up 2018 with their top 10 as Jimenez (AA), Kopech (AAA), Robert (A), Rutherford (A), Cease (A+), Hansen (AAA), Collins (AA), Dunning (AA), Fulmer (AAA), and Burger (A+) with Moncada and Giolito graduating CWS likely opens up 2019 with their top 5 as Robert (AA/AAA), CWS 2018 first rounder, Rutherford (AA), Cease (AAA), and CWS 2018 second rounder/Burger (AA) Hopefully, CWS puts together a winning season in 2019 for the first time in ages and makes playoffs in 2020 when the perennial powerhouse begins I don't think our 2018 second rounder will be above our 2017 first rounder... I'm a big fan of Burger, and I don't think our next year second rounder will be listed above him.

8/21/2017 Twins @ White Sox
yesterday333 replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in 2017 Season in Review
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 09:50 AM) I found this link on the Sox Facebook page about the promotion. It is pretty limited . Only 1000 caps so it may be sold out already but go to the link and follow the instructions. You can only pick up the cap at the game with a voucher http://m.mlb.com/whitesox/tickets/special-events/beatles If it is sold out or you aren't able to attend then I would look on ebay as soon as possible , even tonight or early tomorrow, if you are interested in paying for one on the secondary market. Yeah I live in Montana so I wont be able to attend. Ill check ebay in the next couple of days. Thanks for the info! -
8/21/2017 Twins @ White Sox
yesterday333 replied to CaliSoxFanViaSWside's topic in 2017 Season in Review
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 21, 2017 -> 09:00 AM) On August 20th, 1965 The Beatles played 2 shows at old Comiskey Park and today the White Sox play 2 games . That makes this the 52nd + 1 day Anniversary of that day . I think there's a giveaway of a Beatles/White Sox cap tonight although I don't see it listed on the promotions page @whitesox.com but have seen it advertised during Sox games. Here is an article of that musically historical day w/ video http://www.avclub.com/article/fifty-years-...hows-chi-224181 The article states the Beatles opened with a cover of the Isley Brothers Twist and Shout . The Isley's made it a hit but it was originally recorded by the Top Notes . However, The Beatles version was almost exactly like the Isley's version . Twist and Shout (Beatles version) was also used in the classic downtown Chicago parade scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off Carlos Rodon pitches game 1 and Carson Fulmer the 2nd game . Rodon has a 2.12 ERA over his last 4 starts w/ 28 K's and 6 BB's in 28 2/3 innings. It will be Fulmer's season debut. I assume if the Sox lose game 1 that I am still responsible for the game 2 thread and will be making a separate thread for that game unless someone informs me otherwise. As an obsessed Beatles fan, and obviously a chisox fan, Id love to see one of these hats and would like to know if there was a way to get one... -
Clippard to Houston for PTBNL or cash
yesterday333 replied to Superstar Lamar's topic in Pale Hose Talk
So is the cash all we are getting back or is there still a ptbnl? its not very clear if that is the return or just part of the return. -
I wouldn't hate the idea of having him in our farm system, although our lower levels are pretty full of interesting OFs, but there is no situation where I would be ok calling him up to the majors this season. Let him earn it before he gets called up. And if he is serious about this (which it seems like he is) he probably wouldn't want it either.
