QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 24, 2017 -> 01:33 PM) He is a guy who you never have heard a bad thing about as long as he has been on this team. He is also the poster child for dealing with adversity as he is the world champion in ND's because of bad offense, and yet he has never said a word about it. If he can impart his view on how to be a professional on to the kids of this pitching staff, especially for guys like Kopech who might have some maturity issues, that is a huge win for the Sox. exactly! he is too valuable to take just a decent offer for. He will either get us a great haul or he will stay with us, there is no in between.

QUOTE (bmags @ May 24, 2017 -> 12:29 PM) I mean, I don't know. On the soxtalk end, I think we got drunk on thinking top prospects were always available because of Sale/Eaton. I think Q will get a haul of prospects. But I think it's more likely we see a Cole Hamels type return than a Sale/Eaton with two top 20 prospects. Hahn has said he isn't dropping his asking price. If nobody is willing to give up a few top prospects for a LH TOR with multiple years of cheap control then we will keep him.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ May 24, 2017 -> 11:54 AM) Forgot about the NLW. Hopefully AZ keeps the pressure on the Dodgers and maybe LA jumps into the Q bidding. Shame AZ has little to offer, they could use a starter. Haha the more teams to jump in the better. The rockies can jump in as well.

QUOTE (striker @ May 24, 2017 -> 06:13 AM) Q will return a top 20 prospect. It will be one of: Jimenez, Robles, Rodgers, Martes, Devers, Brinson If Price isn't producing by the trade deadline, my money would be on Q to Boston. Devers would be a very nice addition to 3B. I think Tucker has shown he is a top20 prospect. His ranking will reflect it soon. And I am down on Marte being the top piece in return.
-
I think a fair package from Houston would be Tucker, Fisher, one of (Paulino, Whitley, or Perez) and somebody in their 20-30 range. There are some really interesting pieces in there.
-
I have no problem with Law having a different opinion than others... its the fact that espn gives him and only him control of their prospect rankings that I have a problem with. Why would it be just one person? Its probably just to create click bait...
-
QUOTE (oldsox @ May 23, 2017 -> 03:27 PM) Don't think they will part with Tucker. Replace Daz with someone else? Then we don't need to part with Q. Its gonna have to hurt to get Q that's just the way it is. Somebody will give up more if they wont give up Tucker.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 23, 2017 -> 02:58 PM) Daz sucks....hell no to that deal I wouldn't take it either... A lot of teams could easily beat that deal...

Nationals acquire Doolittle/Madson from As
yesterday333 replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm not sure what to believe with these rumors of what has fallen through... Weren't there rumors that it fell apart because we insisted on Severino? And there have been rumors that we have talked with the Nats multiple times this season, then Nightingale keeps saying we haven't had contact with them since the offseason. -

QUOTE (scs787 @ May 21, 2017 -> 07:39 PM) What am I missing about Kieboom? He's a 26 year old that is hitting .170 in AA and last year he had an OPS under .700 as a 25 year old in AA. Is he some elite defensive catcher? Or do people just like his name? Looks like a non prospect to me. wrong Kieboom..... -

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ May 18, 2017 -> 01:20 PM) Let's say Robertson is performing well... when looking at what some teams have paid to get closers at the deadline for playoff runs, is Robles really too much to ask? yes -
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 18, 2017 -> 09:35 AM) Meaning they will cost significantly less. Yes but I would say teams looking to compete for a long time rather than just this year will be more likely to give up more for long term solution rather than paying a FA more in the offseason.
-
QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ May 18, 2017 -> 09:30 AM) Do you guys think we lost the window to trade Q in the near term? Performance down (albeit a small sample size), other possible contenders dropping out creating supply of other SP's to deal (Cueto, etc). No... Q is a long term solution. He has a few cheap years left on his contract. Most of the other pitchers available are rental players that are a short term solution.

QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ May 17, 2017 -> 10:26 AM) Here's Dave Cameron's response to your proposal: I was kinda thinking the same thing. I think you've got to get Tapia and/or Mcmahon in there as well.
-
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ May 16, 2017 -> 02:13 PM) For me, Soto has to be the headliner for Robertson, unless they want to start with Robles in which I would not complain. Stevenson could make for an interesting second or third piece. He he, I wonder if Hahn could squeeze Soto and Fedde for Robertson? Probably not but if the Nat's pen continues to struggle it could become more possible. I really like Kieboom... partly because of the name but also I think he could play anywhere in the infield and hit well.
-
QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 16, 2017 -> 01:33 PM) He's been awful in the big leagues though. Something like 2 for his last 28. I think he's okay, but looks lost in his at bats and isn't a defensive stud either. Happ on the other hand, looks very much the part. If your going to get all bat, no glove, I'll gladly take him. well wasn't Moncada pretty bad in the bigs as well? I think there is potential there especially as a 3rd piece of a deal. Obviously we cant bank on one prospect working out but that would be three nice bats...
-
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ May 16, 2017 -> 11:47 AM) I think the price is reasonable. Candelerio is raking so far in Iowa and boy could the Sox use a young talent like him at 3B. Yeah, if we made that trade and signed Robert, the bats in our farm no longer are a weakness...
-
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 16, 2017 -> 10:23 AM) Wow that is awful haha a deal with the Cubs starts with Happ and/or Jimenez. I think the cubs are a great partner for the sox. With their starting pitching situation and their prospects it makes too much sense. Is Happ, Jemenez, and Cadelario too much to ask?
-
QUOTE (Soha @ May 16, 2017 -> 09:40 AM) It's really hard to envision Quintana getting moved this year. There's about to be a lot of pitching available on the market...and those guys are having better years than Q is having. With Quintana having a bit of an off year...why would any team give up a lot for him? It wouldn't make sense. On the flip side, if you're the Sox, you don't move him for less because he's having an off year. The contract/control situation allows the Sox to wait this out until Quintana gets back on track and that's what they will do. Now, if Q does get his stuff together and goes on a nice run over the next month, then maybe things change. But you're still facing a market that will likely have plentiful options for teams needing pitching. Especially now that teams no longer get compensatory picks if they lose free agents. That will send teams in to seller mode a lot faster than previously. I feel like his contract makes him so much more desirable than anybody else on the market though... having a cheap TOR for many years is better than an expensive half year rental. If you look at him as a long term solution rather than a temporary fix he will still be in high demand.

QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ May 16, 2017 -> 12:13 AM) Not even for Swarzak, Robertson, and Frazier? Do you even need to include Frazier in that? If we gave them 2 good bullpen arms I think 2 A+ players isn't too much to ask.
-
I think there are a few interesting pieces from the Mets farm besides the top 2. I like Szapucki, or Lyndsey, or Becera, and Guerrero... None of them for Robertson, but maybe one of our starting pitchers and Frazier could get a few of those pieces.
-
rabbit, what do you think of pavin smith or jake burger? would you be happy with either of them as the sox pick?
-
I really like Burger. Obviously the Sox will go with their highest rated player... which I hope is a top college bat. I hope to see haseley, smith, kendall, or burger as the pick.

New Top 30 INTL Prospects List out from MLB

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 5, 2017 -> 08:23 AM) 27 of the top 30 are committed already. None of them are committed to White Sox and that's another sign that Luis Robert is a very real possibility. If they miss on him, they are pretty much out of the market in 2017-2018. It would be really disappointing. Unless ohtani(sp) comes over... Then we would be in perfect position to land him. -
QUOTE (flavum @ May 3, 2017 -> 10:57 AM) I hope Lopez can start, but it has been the opinion of many that watch games that he'll ultimately be a reliever. No shame in that. Same for Kopech. He may be a monster reliever someday. Don't a lot of people who say that, say its because of his size? That tends to be what I have heard when people say Lopez is a reliever.
