  1. 26/41 I missed a couple I definitely should have gotten.
  2. He was one of the guys I had on my list of potential platoon partners if we get Joc or just in general. Pretty awesome to be able to get him on a minor league deal.
  3. Yes, but you can present every advanced statistic known to man but it won't help if the panel doesn't understand them. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/lets-fix-mlbs-salary-arbitration-system-the-arbitrators/
  4. What would suck more, not getting him (or Harper) or getting one of them on a deal with a short term opt out that its almost guaranteed they will take so that we basically have to wait in agony for them to leave us right when we will really need them?
  5. To stoke the fires of #HatGate again, here is the Sox 2019 spring training cap. Note the red on one part, but not the patch on the correct side. https://www.fanatics.com/mlb/chicago-white-sox/chicago-white-sox-new-era-2019-spring-training-59fifty-fitted-hat-black/o-2354+t-25009778+p-70577443189+z-9-3570332620
  6. I think the big difference is that something like OPS tells you what happened while wRC+ can tell you what will happen in different situations. A better hitting environment will result in a higher OPS and more runs, but if they moved to somewhere else they would have a lower OPS even if they stayed the exact same talent level. wRC+ is adjusted so it doesn't match the results of what happened exactly, but it can tell you the difference in quality of player in a neutral environment which is probably better for predicting future performance. Of course expected stats should be even more predictive of future performance which will likely mean they are also much worse at telling you what actually happened.
  7. So who's going to be our man on the ground in Arizona spying scouting for any signs of Machado/Harper gear?
  8. There is a report (unconfirmed to this point) that Paul Goldschmidt and the Cards just agreed to a 5 yr $139m extension. If true, I wonder if that finally causes some real movement in the negotiations.
  9. Or you put out there that you won't take a meeting without an offer and then take the meeting anyway so other teams think you have another offer even if you really don't
  10. Temperature is stupid. I only need to know which of the 5 temperatures it is: 1) Hot as balls 2) Perfection 3) Sweater weather 4) Cold 5) Just stay inside
  11. I guess it depends on how accurate the scale is, but according to the old scale the difference would have been even bigger.
  12. I got all the other names, but who is Aaron? Am I just not remembering the username or is that the real name for someone here?
  13. And I 100% get that, but I just feel like it was a misunderstanding that was only going to escalate into something worse. I think I was trying to just jump in and calm things down and I did a really bad job at that. I'm probably not in a great frame of mind for online convos considering I am in an argument on a different board. I probably carried some of that over into this one.
  14. Is it bad that people with inside sources make me feel better about this than actual Hahn quotes? Whenever he talks it sounds like we won't be the highest bidder, but I guess I wouldn't put out there publicly that we won't be outbid. Letting an agent know you are willing to go a ton higher than current amount will probably just make you pay a ton more than you had to.
  15. IDK, he was referring to some specific people, so if that is disparaging Soxtalk while posting on Soxtalk then really anyone saying anything bad about any other poster while on here is basically disparaging Soxtalk. It kind of seems like this quote I found fits that description then.
  16. I took it as anyone who questions dave's sources is dense, especially if the reason they question it is because they dislike barstool. Its one thing to dislike a group or company or anything like that, and another to dismiss anyone associated with that entity even when that person has been right in the past.
  17. I thought it was obvious from his post he didn't mean everyone here is dense but instead those who keep saying how WSD doesn't know anything and then has multiple people say otherwise. Being a part of this board doesn't make someone dense; arguing the same thing over and over again when the evidence proves it wrong makes someone dense.
  18. IMO: 30-33 = early 30s 34-36 = mid 30s 37-39 = late 30
  19. I'm less conspiratorial about it than others here. I remember hearing the cubs made a swing change with him and it allowed him to potentially have average power when he was projected to have much below average power. Combine that with his great performance in the AFL and suddenly he looks like a lot better prospect than initially thought.
  20. Dude aggregating reports that are currently out there that we already don't know the validity of. Nothing that hasn't been reported, rumored, or speculated before.
  21. I almost hope the Padres really are in it and do have a strong offer out there because then we can get some real negotiations going and hopefully wrap this up quickly when one team drops out and Lozano realizes he got the most he can get.
  22. Or just buy in the city and hire whatever property tax appeals law firm your alderman / other elected official is connected to.
  23. Illinois is higher in regressive taxes that matter less than the income tax when you are talking about the kind of money these contracts will be worth.
